Nope, that was an improper romanization on K-F's behalf. Lot's of people I've talked about it like Stephen or oceanizer said that both Gun Fall or Gan Forr would be valid possibilities of which Gun Fall looks somehow more appealing.^^

Well, a lot of people know him by that name thanks to K-F subs. There are reasons for the name "Gun Fall" I believe, but I don't remember them atm. (It seems that Ivotas beat me to the punch on that, anyway).
I hope Pearl gets zero votes. Worst character Oda has ever created.

Because they're NOT functionally the same character. Personally, I like Cricket better because he has to live with the legacy of Norland and he seems to do a fairly good job of it. Plus, he was handing it to Sanji pretty well until he got the bends.

Gan Fall MUST remain top 4 in this poll. He is the living embodiment of the Toriyama-Oda alliance, the union of the old-school shonen titan and the new-school shonen scion. (I say this because he looks a HELL of a lot like a Toriyama character in terms of facial structure, and Toriyama's big on armor.) He has armor and a lance and a bird that doubles as a horse. He fought God Motherfuckin' Eneru and lived to tell the tale. That old man is badass as hell and absolutely deserves to qualify.

31st actually right between ShuShu and Tom.
For the sake of comparison, Burgess was 124th, Mohmoo was 110th, and Urouge was 52nd, but that's largely because of
an amazing First Round performance against KizaruBattle Franky.Voting Urogue-san and Gun Fall. Dunno about anyone else yet.

I'm roughly paraphrasing what I was told back then but the arguments were that while it is a valid translation it is one that is the most misleading in terms of pronounciation if both names have an "a" in them. Sorry if I keep it that brief but the explenation the others provided were quite long and I don't remember everything and also topics like this should go to the character names faq.

They're two kids from water 7 who look up to Franky and Paulie.
Patty and Carne I'm sure they helped Sanji learn how to cook, so I voted for them. Also, the un-named VA and Gun Fall.

All I remember is they apparently tried to rob (and got their rears handed to them) Zoro off panel and led him back to galley-la when Garp arrived.

There is no way someone with the creative genius of Oda would freely put a character as stupid and lame as Pearl into his manga. I strongly suspect BLACKMAIL.
Think about it. Even aside from Sanji himself, the Baratie arc introduced a wide cast of interesting characters: the crusty geezer and awesome ex-pirate Zeff, the hilarious Patty, the legendary and invincible swordsman Mihawk, the lovably-insufferable Fullbody, the badass demon with a heart of gold Gin, the downright evil and backstabbing villian Don Kreig…and then there was Pearl.
I mean seriously, Pearl is a enormously grotesque, pompous plate-thing (presumably with a human inside) that shows up out of nowhere, serves no purpose and then disappears back into obscurity forever. And his dialogue is obnoxious. And he attacks with fire for no reason. And he beats up on Sanji in the lamest fight ever. And you can't attack him back 'cause Zeff is being held hostage. Frankly the only cool thing he ever does is be blown apart by Gin.
It's safe to say I hate Pearl.

I'm no authority on the japanese language, but a simple example like Gundam from any of those series have the beginning written (ガン ) and it's Gun at the beginning. So perhaps it's a phonetic decision that tells translation which romanization to use.
With that said, who to vote for….hmmmm...

Yep, it's a phonetic decision. Gan Fall would be just like Gandam. A valid romanization but rather doubtful if you consider the pronounciation results it would generate among the uninformed readership.

Patty is great.. but Burgess gives me the impression BB's 1st mate / right hand. He was with him from the beginning and he had more lines than every single BB pirate except the captain…so I cant see him losing.
