Wait, so Comedy Central seriously refuses to show a picture of Muhammad? I thought that was just part of the whole joke.
South Park

-
I thought so too with the Cartoon Wars ep. but that really was CC's censorship.
-
Wait, Muhammed's in the opening?! Can anyone get a screencap? I've never seen him. Never even heard he was in the opening until now.
Oh, don't even get me started on American Dad. There are two basic formulas for making an episode of that show.
1. Stan is wrong about something because he's a conservative douchebag.
2. Whore Roger out because he's a cash cow.
And they alternate the two formulas. Occasionally they may come up with something relatively cool and creative (like the James Bond episode) but for the most part they just follow the two formulas.
Fun fact: American Dad was created solely as Seth MacFarlane's petty revenge because he was pissed Bush got re-elected. That's it. And he doesn't deny it, either. He was so angry at Bush and Republicans he made an entire show to yell at them for as long as it could stay on the air.
What a guy.
Ironically, it's become less political than Family Guy. Figure that one out next time you're high.

The opening he's just in the crowd, but… he's there.
Oh. and a shot from the footage that got cut.

Thanks for that robby.
BTW, I gotta ask, what's with the Wapol getup?
EDIT: Nevermind, I checked your post history.

Funny thing is it's basically become Republican Family Guy, yet not completely. If anything, That's My Bush was a better parody against Bush.

That's a 'shop. If it was uncensored, it would be a lot clearer, the Comedy Central logo wouldn't be there (since it NEVER aired uncensored), and Muhammed's design would be more like that of Family Guy rather than his Super Best Friends one.
Someone simply took a screenshot of him from the Super Best Friends episode and edited it.
See?

Episode 1406 Announcement
This Week on South Park:
Angry celebrities, violent ginger kids and Mecha Streisand are about to destroy South Park and all anyone wants to know is, "Who is Eric Cartman's father?"
From SouthParkStudios.com. Looks like the next episode will be the conclusion to 200. That or Matt and Trey are really screwing with us and the episode will have nothing to do with this stuff.
-
"Black Stewie" to ME is fucking hilarious.
Isnt even about the character itself, it's just the voice. I mean it sounds like an incredibly white man trying his damndest to do his worst impression of how some stereotypical black guy talks. And the fucker probably makes top dollar from it.
But yeah you're absolutley right in that Tim the bear is hilarious.
-
Well, good to know that they are going to go ahead with part 2, rather than just leave us hanging like some speculated.

Oh, just because they put out a press release or a commercial doesn't mean anything.
Remember the second Lemmiwinks episode?

I can honestly say I don't. (but that's probably because it was before I was regularly watching South Park)
You are right though, Matt and Trey are the biggest cockteases since…...well, anyone.

There WASN'T one. They advertised all week "Its the return of lemmiwinks!" Commercials, new animation, and everything.
And then, when the episode actualyl began, there was a 10 second disclaimer at the start that "due to the recent tragedy, we will not be airing the Lemmiwinks episode. Here's this thing instead." I forget what actual episode followed though.
I think that might have also been an April Fools episode though.
-
Not likely.
AWESOM-O aired instead and was reported to have been made in a total of 3 days, the shortest time for any SP episode. This means the disclaimer may hold some truth to it and something within that episode might have had something that might not have held up well with viewers, since they had to make the episode in 3 days.
Not to mention, AWESOM-O aired on April 14. The Not Without My Anus episode aired, it was exactly on April 1st.
-
Wait, people think Family Guy is actually better than American Dad?
…k.
I use to be under this delusion. People grow up, I did.

It's sad that it took South Park to turn me off of Family Guy. After Cartoon Wars, Family Guy only seemed to fit the bill of everything South Park called them out on, and they never tried to improve. It only got worse and worse, and there were even more cut aways and even crappier writing. I remember I used to love the cut aways in Family Guy, then again I was 11 at the time.

From the looks of things it seems Family Guy is taking what South Park said and is making it worse, as shown from recent seasons.
-
Cutaway gags aren't inherently evil, though. Old Family Guy did pretty well with them, and Titus used them brilliantly. The problem came about when Family Guy's new set of writers got it in their head that the cutaways were the show's main thing, and went to ridiculous lengths with them.
Steve's right, though; South Park called them on their bullshit brilliantly, and the show has done nothing but prove them right again and again. You can practically see the manatees' idea balls in most of the jokes in FG's newer episodes.

Uh…the difference is that Titus' cutaways were relevant to the discussions taking place, as well as actual reflections on Titus' past, rather than being randomly placed gags. o_o
Many kudos to you for actually knowing about the series, though.
-
The Critic did random cutaways perfectly.
Thank Fox the show ended after two seasons, it got to remain "yet another quality show that was cancelled before its time" instead of slowly turning into a turd.
Nothing but fond memories as a result.

Titus did have some random ones, though.
"IS THERE NO GOD!!!?"

"IS THERE NO GOD!!!?"
Actually not random, as it was a set up to explain what type of person Tommy was. It was all part of Titus' narrative on the differences between how normal people react to small things compared to dysfunctional people.

TIMMEH!!!
Sorry, random thought
Tommy just seemed to trigger something in my brain… -

Ugh.
You get the point. Cutaway gags can be done well, those were still cutaway gags regardless of context.
-
I feel that for a cutaway to be good it has to add something to the current story. The problem with Family Guy's cutaways is that they're made as stand-alone gags in a fine example of really lazy writing. They put it whatever comes to mind and don't bother spending the time to incorporate them into the story.
South Park has done some similar things, but at least they didn't let a joke stand alone. For example, look at the Rob Schneider movie ads. They were definitely unrelated to the plot at hand and random to anyone but the writers, but they didn't just have one fake ad and leave it by itself. They had a few more to drive the point home and a final one that intersected the plot and made for a funnier whole.
-

Yeah, I know there wasn't a second Lemmiwinks episode. I just never saw the false advertisement gag leading up to the episode, because this was before I started regularly watching South Park. Tsukento said it was the Awesom-O episode? Yeah, I think that was the season before I started regularly watching it.
As for cutaway gags? Yeah, they're fine if done right. And Critic is the shit.
-
Ugh.

Yeah, I know. But what I was getting at was basically just this:
The problem with Family Guy's cutaways is that they're made as stand-alone gags in a fine example of really lazy writing. They put it whatever comes to mind and don't bother spending the time to incorporate them into the story.
Family Guy's cutaways were always random and more often than not had zero to do with the plot, unlike Titus. Family Guy started pushing for less of a story after the second season, though I believe this was all due in part to Seth MacFarlene believing he could just about do anything he wanted for the third season since he knew the series was being canceled.
And Critic is the shit.
You better believe it! I instantly bought the DVD set a few years ago when I saw it was on sale. Though I was disappointed by the DVD's lack of Pac-Man music during the scene where thought bubble Jay smells "fried bananas" in Cuba. :(
-
I dunno, a random flashback gag here and there can be fine. As long as it isn't excessive…
Though I was disappointed by the DVD's lack of Pac-Man music during the scene where thought bubble Jay smells "fried bananas" in Cuba. :(
Yeah, I was pretty bummed about that, myself. Kinda killed a little bit of that joke.

They mentioned on the Season 8 (I believe in the episode "Stupid Spoiled Whore Playset") commentary that they intended to actually make a Lemmywinks episode and had about half an episode down (with the whole mythology and more) but couldn't come up with any more. They stated they still have it on their computers and might come back to it some time.
Well…it's probably just better if you listen to the commentary yourself because I can't remember it all XD

South Park creators warned over depiction of Mohammad in a bear suit
An Islamic website is targeting the creators of the television series South Park, after an episode that aired last week depicted the Prophet Mohammed disguised in a bear suit, CNN reported on Sunday.
The website, Revolutionmuslim.com, was the subject of a CNN investigation last year over its support for "jihad" against the West and for praising al-Qaida leader Osama bin Laden.
According to CNN, the website posted an entry on Sunday that warned South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone that they will "probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show," making a reference to Dutch filmmaker murdered by an Islamic extremist in 2004 after making film on Islam and violence against women.
The posting on Revolutionmuslim.com says: "We have to warn Matt and Trey that what they are doing is stupid and they will probably wind up like Theo Van Gogh for airing this show. This is not a threat, but a warning of the reality of what will likely happen to them."
The website also urges its readers to contact Parker and Stone as well as Comedy Central, which airs the show.
"You can contact them [the makers of South Park], or pay Comedy Central or their own company a visit at these addresses…." the site wrote, and included Comedy Central?s New York address, and the Los Angeles address of Parker and Stone's production company.
The author of the post, Abu Talhah al Amrikee, told CNN that providing the addresses was not intended as a threat but as an opportunity to allow people to protest.

Well, I can't find anything on CNN to support that claim.Do you have a CNN link?

That the video, some pictures of Theo Van Gogh post mortem.

"Oh is that okayyy?"
-
Is it just me, or is Islam the most insecure religion on the planet?
-
It's humorous in way that what South Park uses as material is not even an exaggeration. It's the friggin' truth.
-
Oh man, if Matt and/or Trey die, then America will REALLY be baying for blood.
Is it just me, or is Islam the most insecure religion on the planet?
Only among the extremists. I have yet to meet a regular Muslim who was seriously offended by anything like that.
-
So…
Wow...
I was ready to call bullshit on that video.
But joined October 2009 with 216+ uploads of crazy crazy crazy stuff?

Some dude posted it on his personal Youtube page. So what? Still not a CNN link. That video only has 10,000 views anyways.

Unless…. of course....
This is the biggest thing they've ever pulled.
In which case, they've totally got me.

Is that real?
Thanks for the link.
-
It feels like they're just trolling at this point. Do they seriously care about what South Park has to say, especially when there's still no drawn depiction of the dude?

Someone is unfamiliar with just how fucked up Jihadists are…
-
I'll bet that Matt and Trey will probably make fun of that website at some point/
Oh and I'm really hoping they show Muhammed and stick it to all those fundamentalists.
-
@Thousand:

Hah! If they're gonna be ballsy they wont rest at just "showing" him. By the time they're through, Richard Dawkins will have gotten off easy compared to what they'll do with Muhammed.
-

Well remember, they were going to in Cartoon Wars Part 2, but Comedy Central kept saying no. The previous episode's logic beyond showing everyone but Muhammed is a jab at CC.

Even worse than unknowingly having sex with a man? Oh my:D
@Tsukento, well maybe they worked it out with Comedy Central this time?
