So in order to become the King of the Pirates, Luffy has to not only find One Piece, but also eat Zoro? Wow, One Piece sure will take a rather gruesome turn later on then, won't it?

Mihawk once stated in the managa that for Luffy to truly become the pirate King he must become STRONGER than the STRONGEST swordsman alive.
So since this is a shounen manga in which everyon's dreams are completed by default once Luffy reaches the legendary place Raftel just like Roger he will basically be the Pirate King but to show your true strength and prove you pirate King in the eyes of other pirates you must eat the strongest swordsman alive which is zoro's goal or you might have to defeat your first mate. If this is so it might mean that rayleigh was originally the strongest swordsman alive and as luffy states the strongest swords man should be a mate of the pirate king.
IN WHICH CASE Luffy will have to fight zoro at both of their full power at the end of the series in order to become the pirate king. Captain vs First MAte (Gol D. Roger vs Silvers Rayleigh) (Monkey D. Luffy vs Roronoa Zoro) this would kinda also explain why the first mate and captain's full names are always revealed.
This also means that everyone on luffy's ship might learn physical haki such as Shanks' gun's man (forgot name he has silver hair not the mutton eater)
This might also mean that rayleigh has no Devil fruit but roger did and obviously (why?) roger had the most clever, the smartest, or the strongest Devil Fruit power until he died. This can also exhibit that most of Roger's crew had similar traits or powers to Luffy's and they might learn(luffy's crew) might learn from their respective predecessor F.E Chopper might learn from the one doctor at the Red Line or w/e Laboon is and Franky a shipwright and Roger is a D holder so he has a personality like luffy and enjoys music {WTF???, you totally lost me here man}KK IM DONE :D
This theory totally doesn't deserve it's own thread, it is all speculation, not even speculation, it's rather fantasy and some things just plainly don't make any sense at all. Now when you say eat the strongest swordsmen I seriously hope you mean beat but WHY would the captain need to defeat his first mate? He needs to defeat the one that is considered the strongest in the world at that time and that will never be his first mate. So having to defeat Zoro to become the pirate king is all kinds of ridiculous. . .
all the "might" and "could have" and "perhapses" only makes it worse… -

You're right, Mihawk told Luffy he had to eat Zoro, not beat him. Though they were just outside a restaurant at the time, so that might've had something to do with it.
And if Luffy ate Zoro, he could have two Devil Fruit abilities! I think a Hat-Hat Fruit is in order.

In the chapter that showed the Supernovas still on Sabaody, a couple of them more than Law said they were leaving, if I remember correctly.
There are 9 supernovas without Zoro and Luffy.
There are 9 strawhats.
I think each supernova went to pick up a Straw Hat Crew Member. Trafalgar Law went to get Luffy. What about the others? What do you guys think. -

Robin is already on the move somewhere with the Revolutioneries. I think they just decided to go to the New World instead of waiting for the Marines to come back.

If I remember correctly, Urouge-san is from a Sky Island. Also, who knows? Maybe some of the crew was sent to the New World? We also can't forget that Killer, like Zoro, is a member of another Supernova's crew.

It's not confirmed, but One of the WB allies that appeared in Marineford looks like Lola, but older. I'll try to find the picture.

I have been thinking about it.
Hannyabal will leave Impel Down to revenge Magellan, since BB has probably beat him, and will join forces with Luffy in the next battle between SHs x BB Pirates. Then Akainu will interrupt the battle since his new mission was to hunt down Luffy. Hannyabal will almost die, then Sogeking will show up. The Sogeking's mask will be "fisted" by Akainu, revealing that Usopp is Sogeking. Luffy and Chopper, whose didn't know it until then, will nominate Usopp as the new captain, and everyone there will go for the Island of Snipers, where really is One Piece.Everything before Sogeking is serious theory, the rest nothing.

Someone tell me if this theory has been raised before.
The Devil Fruits are remnants of whatever bizarre technology was responsible for the devastation caused in the void century. What the ancients refer to as the ancient weapons "Pluton" and "Poseidon" are represented by the Yami Yami no Mi and Gura Gura no Mi respectively.
EVIDENCE:
1. Poseidon was god of the Sea and also of Earthquakes. The Whitebeard/Poseidon comparison has already been made and is a no brainer. The Gura Gura no Mi is DFMD (Devil Fruit of Mass Destruction), and a weaponized version could indeed be terrifying.
2. Pluto is the god of the underworld, which might fit with Blackbeard's darkness power. Gravity is every bit as a terrifying DFMD as earthquakes (though admittedly Blackbeard has never threatened the world with a giant Black Hole or anything)
3. Vegapunk has shown some skill in "recreating" devil fruit abilities, and supposedly knows their true nature. This might point to a technological origin for the devil fruits in the ancient world.
BONUS SECOND LESS PLAUSIBLE THEORY: There's a third terrible ancient weapon named Jupiton or some variation. It summons hurricanes.

My theory is- Vegapunk is midget or even a gnome. The reason is quite simple now, when San Juan Wolf is introduced. We have seen that Oars and his ancestor are not very bright. Zombie might have lost some brains and with childness of Luffy could have become such as we saw him, while when he was alive he was angry and smart. But his legacy is not genius and is, in fact, dull and infantile. And San Juan Wolf is just a retard and slow brained. My theory starts here. If humanoids get slower as their size expands beyond average giants (who most likely overcame the brain issue with evolution) because, I don't know, maybe it takes longer for electricity and neurons to work in such enermous sized brains, the smaller from average you get, the faster your brain reacts in contradict with getting bigger. In One Piece it may work, even though it sounds stretched for reality. So Vegapunk may be a human sized giant or a finger-size human or, to make his brain legendary indeed, he may be a human-midget-sized-while giant by blood. And as a bonus he may have some crow genes because while crows have small brains they are very clever. The head just works differently. And that may also help Vegapunk's small head work groundbreaking ahead of it's time. 500 years forward indeed.

Also I think that Mugivaras will meet someone, who knew the previous owner of familiar to them Devil Fruit. And that person will tell them how to beat new owner. I thought so because I don't know how Luffy will find a way to beat Akainu and most likely he will need that. Nice plot twist that is.

Franky always worked with Tom, Yokuzuna, Iceburg, and Kokoro right?
but like most tv shows franky was just an apprentice not stated whether or not he was Tom's son or Iceburg's brother which is why he is not a fishman.
BUT franky's father must be really important if Zanbai mentioned to strawhats that "His own father is a pirate" (this is when zanbai convinces SHs to take franky with them) Now we know one of the yonkou was not revealed one is dead one is well- known and there is no information on kaidou
My theory is that if franky's father (most likely abandoned franky) is important enough to mention then it must be one of the yonkou or someone in the neww world. We can eliminnate a mermman as a father because franky can't breathe under water or has fins. Tom was never said to be a pirate or he would not live peacefully in Water 7
So it must be kaidou (crew) or the 4th yonkou (crew) that is franky's father or again someone in new world. And franky must have been abandoned at young to have forgotten or his father did some unbelievable acts such as kill franky's mother/ family etc to have Franky never mention his father

if that is true it would most likely be Dragon's considering how dangerous dragon is and if iva is second in command with such a terrifying DF to implify its power (ya it not he/she or shemale IT!) (i wish he showed more powers than the f****ing wink btw) then dragon must be amazing to have highest bounty iin the world and be in charge of Iva and maybe 1000s of other revolutionaries. WB may not have mentioned it but Dragon may know something about the Void century and Roger's era as luffy has strange relatives brother/son of pirate king father= revolutionary Garp= could have been fleet admirale but denied and jupiton's DF might not be hurricanes but weather hence why it started to rain when dragon appeared and saced luffy
