And btw. I find it really funny. Perona and Boa supporters are looking for some super upper cool theories, facts and forshadowing but in the end boring Jinbei without this crazy stuff has still most of the chances.

I haven't seen a super upper monster post with crazy forshadowing and theories about Jinbei so far.

And Usopp joined after Franky in my mind. So Nami is the 3rd… Damn Oda is doing his own manga wrong and the whole numbers are fucked up now

Why don't you counter this "theory" of mine as a false speculation… I assure you, unlike this numerology crap, I don't use stupid things like that...

To me, I just make it simple: "find crew, and then ask to join..."

Everything else is meaningless, and if we were to take notes, Zoro and Perona are bound to head together and end up finding the crew... :ninja:

If she doesn't join who cares i will still read and enjoy One Piece from when she was introduced this whole thing has only been an academic and theoretical discussion for me anyway.

I feel still she has the most to offer in terms of story still of any of the usual suspects. Unlike Jinbei, she has an interesting background and also has ties to Fishman Island (through Fisher Tiger) and the Tenryubito.

I'm am sure whichever happens i will still enjoy the story and for me that IS what it is all about

That's all she could ever offer to the plot, otherwise, it is meaningless.

Now, Jinbei, who is supposed to have a special "past" doesn't have a damn thing shown… What can we judge about him? Nothing... We cannot even call him a slave, cause we don't know... We cannot call him anything but a WB lackey.

So, we're left with a bunch of unknowns... Then, Perona who holds even more mystery than either of them... She's bound to have a "past" and anything can happen...

Picking a poison is what sucks; Hancock's is too detailed, and cannot be altered much. Jinbei sucks... And Perona needs a lot of information, which can be made at whim.:getlost:

Shanks had his arm ripped off, Zeff ate his own leg, Robin's entire homeland was burned to the ground (with everyone there murdered), Nami's mother was shot in the head in front of her, Nami herself was extorted from and effectively enslaved for eight years, Luffy stabbed himself in the face, Sanji took up smoking, Franky was ran over by a train…

The point is, the contents of a fictional story do not necessarily have that kind of effect on most of its readers. Besides, the World Nobles, who are clearly evil, seem to be the only ones that use slave labour, and the World Government, which is also evil, endorses it.

I've been following this battle on a number of forums and I feel that I should throw my hat into the ring. I'll come right out from the start and say, that I'm a proud member of "Team Hancock." but before you all start with the nerd rage, hear me out.

Looking at the Straw Hats, each one of them seem to fulfill some sort of gender and personality stereotype that I've seen in a lot of manga. For example, let's look at the males.

Luffy: The "Goku", who eats a ton, is dumb, but has a very heroic personality and will always help out anyone he cares for similar to your Naruto, or Ichigo, he's really the male shounen stereotype.

Zoro: The "serious" character, while comical, is often the more hardened member of the crew, as shown when he told Luffy about Usopp coming back.

Sanji: The "Good Looking Pervert and Narcissist." Though that last point can be up for debate.

Usopp: The "Coward and weakling who will eventually grow to be a good warrior"

Tony Chopper: The "Naive child with a heart of gold."

Franky: The "Guy who's all man." You know..sort of like Might Guy, or Elfman from Fairy Tail.

Brooke: The "Perverted Old man and Gentlemen" He's the Roshi…

Looking at that list, I believe that all the personalities one would find in a shounen series have been fulfilled. Now let's look at the females.

Nami: The "Sexy Tomgirl, who's still got girlish traits" She's pretty much the stereotype for females in a manga like this, tough, loud, always yelling and hitting, and sexy.

Robin: "The wise one." She the always serious character and never looses her cool unlike Zoro, who can be comical sometimes.

I look at this, and find that the only real character type that is missing, is a spoiled brat like character. Now I'm sure there are more, but I think that Hancock fits this persona perfectly, but let's dig in deeper. ((Yes..Perona could fit the bill as well, but that would mean two "Thriller Bark" characters, and that just doesn't seem right.))

Hancock so far, has had the most development out of any of the potential "Nakamas." We already know her tragic past, and she has a unique and interesting personality that clashes and mixes well with the straw hats. I would love to see her interact with Sanji and Brooke, and having to fight with Nami and Robin over living together and seeing Nami freak out about her high standards and attitude.

Her "relationship" with Luffy is also another reason for her to go. We know that the love sickness makes it, that if she is far away from Luffy, or apart from him, she will die. Her debt to Fisher Tiger also gives her a reason to go with the Straw Hats so she can help pay him back. ((I know he's dead, but I'm sure this could be done some way.)) The fact that she's a girl is also a huge bonus, because I think it's time that Oda added another female to the cast, and like I stated before, we are still missing a "key female personality" while all the male ones have been covered.

Also, now that she has declared her loyalty to Luffy, her title could be at risk, and I'm sure Elder Nyon ((Who I suspect is actually Portgas D Rogue)) can handle things on their own.

Now..I'm not going to leave the Jinbei supporters in the dust either. I'll admit it, Jinbei's a cool character, and I think that if Oda gives us a "fishman arc." and Hancock does not go on the Submarine or follow Luffy.Then yes, he could join the crew, and yes I admit, it would be pretty badass to have him there.

However, aside from being a fishman, what else does Jinbei bring to the crew? His serious and honorable personality is already spilt between Robin, Zoro and even Brook in some cases. And so far, he just seems like a really boring and uninteresting character, unlike Hancock, who we have already seen a well developed and layered personality.

That said, this could all change if we get a fishman island arc, and if Jinbei ends up joining, I'll be pissed, but it won't be the end of the world and I'm sure I'll love him. Hell, maybe neither of them will join and all this internet rage will be for nothing.

Just my 2 cents, do with it what you will........

Personally thinking both Boa and Jnbei will function as Luffy's tutors.
Boa could simply learn Luffy how to utilize his king's haki, because she has it herself.
Jinbei could simply help improve Luffy's hand to hand combat. Maybe even teach him Fishman karate.

I still predict a fishwoman/mermaid as last nakama just before entering the new world.

Again, most of us have said this is something that would be addressed at FI if he were to join, so I don't really see much of a point, at all. It's not as if Luffy outshined the all the other crew members before the boss fight.

Your argument is basically "the thing you guys think will happen later hasn't happened yet! How do you explain that one? Huh?"

Neither did the crew members outshine him before then. That's what I'm trying to say.Whether or not Luffy grows stronger than Jinbei sometime in the future, the fact still remains that it was Jinbei protecting him and all the while Jinbei helping Luffy before then. The point is, Luffy's crew is a rookie crew (Brook hasn't seen the world in 50 years, so he's still rather inexperienced), and they're supposed to grow on their own as their journey allows it. Jinbei coming along, already at the peak of his growth since 5 years back, would ruin that purpose. He's old and experienced and he knows what the world was like in the days of Roger. Hence, his precense on the ship would be a kick in the groin for the whole "New Era" thing that's been hyped up so much.
Pardon the late response, but I've been lurking in silence this week to avoid getting spoiled again.

The only thing that I can see which would stop an attack is the marines have suffered heavy losses in this war and unless sending all Admirals out to AL would still have trouble clearing out AL which is a natural fortress where everyone seems to be familiar w/ haki as well as every person there being a warrior, the WG needs to have many troops always in position from any attack by the Revolutionaries or another not shown Yonkou, IMO that is why Sengoku stopped the war instead of facing Shanks, not that they would auto lose to the RH pirates but even if they won they would be vulnerable, and no I don't think that AL would pose the threat a Yonkou would, having that many troops out after a battle like the one that just ended would leave them too vulnerable, so its not 100% guaranteed that the Marines would still attack IMO

Also she 'saw' Luffy mouth "I love you" to her, so she'll be fine just knowing that her love isn't unrequited and that Luffy will come visit her later on.

I doubt they go back to AL, I think her case could be solved if the WG disbands the Shichibukai, which w/ Croc getting put away, Jimbei openly going against the WG, then BB incident, the Elder Stars may feel that having Shichibukai is now more trouble that what it gains, and w/ that she would become just another pirate, which yes puts AL at risk but only at the same risk all other pirates have of the marines, or if another Empress emerges in Boa's absence at AL, could solve her issue, or the possibility of her tattoo is found by the public and the Tenryubito use the WG to take her back, then I doubt her ties to AL even matter.

I don't think her "sickness" means anything to her joining or not, I do think her caring for Luffy drives her to stay in the story

The Marines have NEVER had a good relationship with the Shichibukai, seeing how they almost never showed up to meetings and Sengoku even called them "scum of the sea."
Even so, they still keep them because they are still freakishly strong and they upset the balance of power in their favor. It's not like the Shichibukai have had perfect discipline until Croc was found out to be corrupt. Why would they get rid of them now and not in the past? Even if they only have Moria, Kuma, Doflamingo, Hawkeye and Hancock that's still a pretty good deal.

I belived I already explained a theory for her joining in the previous thread.
She will join Luffy where ever and the marines currently accompaning her will report back that Straw Hat has kidnapped her and is forcing her to serve underneath him.

Hence the marines will leave AL alone and just pursue the SH Pirates. Perhpaps this is where Smokers Idea of forming a crew will come into play and one of his mission objectives will be to bring back Hancock, who he knows isn't really there under protest.

I still don't understand why apologize, there's nothing to apologize here, unless you offended someone or was lying or talking shit on purpose.

About the chapter, I still support Hancock, and I'm happy to see her doing something, as small as it is, but the chapter changes nothing. We now know that Hancock is still trying to reach Luffy. That's no proof that Hancock has greater chance of joining. We knew all along that she would not give up on Luffy.

Jinbei still has an advantage in both being closer to Luffy right now and having more screen time lately. Compare Franky and Paulie during W7/Ennies Lobby: Paulie slowly was being dragged to the background, while Franky got more and more screen time. While the situation of Jinbei and Hancock have not become as clear as Franky/Paulie, it's hard to deny that Jinbei has got more screen time and is closer to Luffy.

So, the answer may lie in the next arc. Where will Luffy go? Will Hancock even be featured in the next arc, or will she only appear again in a few hundred chapters? We don't know how Oda will resolve the situation. THe situation could be reversed, with Jinbei & Luffy fading in the background for a while, while the story focus on the crew & Hancock trying to find Luffy. We don't know. It can happen, but judging only from what already happened, Jinbei's ahead.

That said, I still have faith that Hancock will join, or at least interact with Luffy and the crew a little before going away from the storyline if she doesn't join. I disagree that the Amazon Lily situation must be resolved before she joins; it could be decided later in the story, but whatever. That's not the point of this post.

And, just to end the post, I also think that, from all the possible nakama, Hancock has the most developed personality, with her own quirks and with a lot of comedic and dramatic potential. That's why I support her in the first place.

Ha! The way Oda handled the whole Hancock situation, for now, is quite good and makes me hope we see her with her crew (and of course the cute Amazon-trio Marge, Sweetpea and Aphelandra) in the New World, "hunting" Luffy.
Funnily enough, unlike the general opinion, for me this chapter declined her chances of joining. I see her as the uber hilarious side character that pops up from time to time in the future. A bit like Buggy, but with more guts (and less holy powers ). But this could all change in the next chapters, let's wait and see.

And can't wait to see how the whole Jimbei story will evolve…he has a good heart, worthy of a strawhat. But lacks some of the spice in his characterization...I'm not sold on that one...yet.

Concidering how Buggy's scam has been and still is going strong even after the war, I don't think a misunderstanding from the marines regrding Hancock joining Luffy would be all that much trouble. Keeping it up till the end of the series is another matter. Someone needs to claim Amazon Lilly!

Perona has nothing holding her back, but nothing keeping her there, her only decent interaction was w/ Zoro and no one even knows how that went, the anime gives a slight hint, but it wasn't in the manga, and her claims of wanting back w/ Moria hasn't been disbanded yet, she never said "O now that Zoro is here i'll join the SHs" or "These guys are fun, I'll stick w/ them"

She almost seems pleased that he is beat up, but we have no explanation as to why she helped him, possibly boredom, how he got his swords back, and then how Zoro left it, most likely w/ out saying anything, then she follows him in hollow form which gives me nothing to think that Zoro even knows she is there, following him, to me he doesn't even care to think where is Perona cuz he is just trying to find Luffy and co.

And I was giving possibilities to how Oda could have Boa join, IMO I don't think the Shichibukai will be disbanded but I used it since it has been mentioned, I think Buggy will be the next Shichibukai even though him being in the SHs would be awesome, he isn't overpowered and his comical effects are golden, his goal is to find treasure and what better treasure is there than One Piece, which is a reason for him to stick, even though he won't =\
