what are ghetto/pimp reserved for only black people? i think you are being racist there.
i anticipated this comment…
but i still see what you did then, and now here...its cute
Pimps have been around for hundreds of years people. White people were pimps way before the 60's or whatever the time the typical black pimp with crazy pimp outfits came along.
and ghetto's were originally a place where jews would live, then through time it was other races like irish, polish, italians, ect for imagrants to the u.s. then sometime later blacks started calling their places ghetto's
The word "ghetto" actually comes from the word "getto" or "gheto", which means slag in Venetian, and was used in this sense in a reference to a foundry where slag was stored located on the same island as the area of Jewish confinement
so quit being racists. you guys can't be serious if you think that many of words these days are not from other stuff. its like the swastica, the word fag, word gay, and many other things. If someone says a word people always jump to the definition they want in order to bitch at that person. Like saying somethings gay. most times i ever say it is meaning like thats stupid. i'm not thinking of homosexuals, or that something is carefree or happy. if i call someone a fag, it usually means what you think it does, but thats not the words original meaning.
so think what you want, cause that's what people do. but when saying the word ghetto i'm not thinking of black people. i'm thinking of a poor ass district and stupid ass people thinking its COOL to live there. When i think of a pimp, its just that, a pimp. A person who is in charge of prostituion, or the just termonology of thats awesome.
heres some awesome WHITE pimps for you
LOL

When I saw the commercial and trailers I thought "horrendous CGI" and "generic."
Why the hell do people love Greek mythology so much? Zeus is basically Hera's bitch and Hera is Queen Bitch in virtually every story. Give me Odin. Odin didn't take no shit from nobody. Or THOR. Norse mythology is cooler in almost every damn way. Give me valkyries and Loki; Greek mythos is played out.
Must be the unhappy ending where everyone dies except a couple of humans who then repopulate the earth.
I like Norse mythology a lot more too. The Gods valued honour, didn't treat everyone like shit and the concept of eternal food, booze and women in the afterlife appealed to me.

Yes, but was anyone born from someone's genitals falling into the ocean in Norse mythology? Does the earth in Norse mythology get around with her grandchildren? Is the god of agriculture in Norse mythology as badass as the one in Greek mythology?

I have always wanted to see bad-ass movie about the Ragnarok but knowing Hollywood, it would be a generic piece of crap.
agreed, a movie like that would be cool, and knowing Hollywood.. once they realize there's a sizable demographic for Norse themed nerdery, they'll start filming as soon as they've whored out greek mythology for ALL it's worth.
you guys forgetting about that horrible garbage called beowolf. that is norse mythology
you guys forgetting about that horrible garbage called beowolf. that is norse mythology
Not really. It's from a place where Norse mythology also came from, but it isn't a Norse myth. And Beowulf is great.

Christopher Lee for Odin. And Mike Patton to do Fenrir.

No, then they move on to doing a GOOD adaption of the Iliad, then Egyptian mythology, Shinto mythology, Hindu mythology (Seeing the whole story about Garuda would be amazing), THEN Norse.
@Hinscher:

No, that's a poem.

you just won't stop with the putting of the foot in your mouth will you…
Just saw it. Pretty damn good imo (7/10). I enjoyed it. I kinda wish they left the ending with a bit more of umpf, but hey whatever.
I wanna see how the planned trilogy will turn out.
Trilogy?
! Is there a continuation AFTER the Kraken was turned to stone?
Trilogy?

Aside from Lawrence Oliver's awesome monologue about the gods and shit? No.
Doing something with Atlas like in the original myth would be interesting…
Still haven't gotten to see this. I want to, and when I do, it seems it should be in 2D, which is better since I get to save money.
There are several variations of the Perseus myth. Since it seems that this is not a direct remake of the '80s movie and only share the same name, that is interesting.
Trilogy? This is the first I have heard of this. Where is the source for that? It could be good, there is plenty of material that could be used and stretched. I would list them, but I'll wait until I have seen the movie to see what things Perseus didn't do in the film that he did in various myths.
First time I've heard of this "trilogy" thing myself…
Duly noted.
So far I've heard it's decent. Might have to watch it to see if it's worth a trilogy.
Just watched it. T'was rubbish.
The script was atrocious and many of the characters unremarkable.
Oh, and don't pay for a 3D screening. As has been said, since it was added in afterwards, it's not very good.
Yeah, I saw it in 2D. I didn't think it was that bad, but there was definitely far too much packed into such a short time frame. The climax/finale was underwhelming, the characters too many with too little to do, the direction of the plot seemed scattered, and the dialog was fairly weak. Having said that, my dad and I still enjoyed the movie. I probably wouldn't recommend seeing it in theaters, but it would be worth watching when it comes to DVD, I think.
You should watch it. All the harryhausen adventure films (clash, argonauts, and the three sinbad films) are worth seeing, if just for the stop motion stuff.
This one…most every scene I found lacking. The design for the Kraken was terrible. Poseiden was basically relegated to near non-existence. Perseus was a muppet....it wasn't soloman kane bad, but I did wish I'd gone to see train your dragon or kick ass this week instead of this.
The movie was ridiculous.
They fucked up mythology.
The avatar dude cant act.
No real 3d reason.
Direction lacked during the action scenes…they moved too damn fast !
The only good things were the gags and the effects.

I totally agree! I mean the ending was so anti climactic that I was in a state of 0_________o
! Also loved the convenient fight scene with madusa killing off everyone but the main protagonist leaving him to grieve over umm… nobody!
I saw it this past Saturday and thought it was horrible.
Wooden actors, medicore special effects and very banal dialogue.
Honestly, when I saw some of the scenes with Liam Neeson, I thought I was watching the 80's flick, Krull.
Even with 3 major movies under his belt, I still don't know what to make of Sam Worthington as an actor. Right now, the guy just seems to posses the superficial qualities, but very limited as an actor.
Eh, it was alright.
Though no Lawrence Oliver makes it loose many points.
A good thing…..Gemma Artenton is hot.
Just watched it. T'was rubbish.
The script was atrocious and many of the characters unremarkable.
Agreed. The movie was bad. Just, awful. Worst line of the movie"Don't look that bitch in the eyes":getlost:. Perseus was the most unremarkable part of the movie, I was never in awe of his character but rather hoped that he died so Sheikh Suleiman could take the lead. The acting, the plot, the effects, all sub-par. I pray to Hades that they stop with this here and never do a sequel of any sorts.
i thought it was great cant wait for the dvd
Was Persues supposed to be gay in this? I mean he leaves the girl, doesn't care about the other mystical girl's death, gets no ass… in general.. I just don't know what to make of it. I understand that Hollywood wants to make everything ancient Greek gay (and Sherlock Holmes) but.. why?
So when I decided to sit down and watch this film, I watched the 80's classic first as I was building my new library. Right after watching the classic, which was good, I can't praise it, but it was definitely good, and the actresses back then were very swanky hot., I saw the new one
This was a terrible film.. when I saw that golden owl in the castle.. I literally slapped myself trying to injure my short term memory... In general the whole "I want to do this as a human, uuuuugh, fuck gods, grunt" felt like an overly roided up american football player wrote the whole thing. It also felt like a damn join the Marines commercial.. I can't put my finger as to why.
Anyway, long story short Claire Bloom and Judi Bowker... mmmm laaaaaaaaaaady!
The Greeks were actually that close with each other. Not Roman close, but close.
And Sherlock is asexual.
There's guy/bro-love and then there is what hollywood has to push.
300 is the perfect example of this: "We're not like the Athenians"
The event you're referring to occurred mostly in aristocracy Athenian philosophy courses, and Greek theater. Not the rest of Greece.
Very displeased with the way that they treated greek mithology.
Zeus creating humans?
Athena a bitch? (well only to medusa, but she seduced poseidon in her temple!)
Evil Hades?
And where are the Titans?
I knew that this was going to be a regular "butched mythology film" since the "Greek Kraken" but at least I espected a decent action film!
Good films do not make Kraken human.
Good films don't make the kraken greek.
But… A masive crazy crossover of mitologies.. Super Smash Bros. Meets the ancient religions of the world!
Do they really think this movie's good enough to get a sequel….I was really dissapointed, and while there may have been alot of hype, i'm not going to go see a sequel considering how much I hated this one. If it's a completely different story, I may look at reviews at least before I check the sequel out.
Athena a bitch? (well only to medusa, but she seduced poseidon in her temple!)
What?
Wasn't Medusa brutally raped by Posideon while in Athena's temple and was then blamed by Athena for it?
Also, Greek gods were arseholes.
KRATOS IS MY HERO.
What?
Wasn't Medusa brutally raped by Posideon while in Athena's temple and was then blamed by Athena for it?
Yup, that's about it.
Also, Greek gods were arseholes.
KRATOS IS MY HERO.
…but he's even more of one.
…but he's even more of one.
Thank you.
But seriously, the Greek God's are screwed up in the head anyway.
Take note that Hera, Zeus's wife, is actually his sister.

KRATOS IS MY HERO.
There are different versions.
I'd rather think that the woman who keept luring people to turn them into statues was the villian, and the Godess of wisdom and courage, patron of one of the greatest citties of old wasn't a bitch

Hahahaha no.

That's like the least screwed-up thing about Greek mythology.
@The:
Some good news for the sequal:

You liar, there is nothing in there about how it won't be made at all.
That's like the least screwed-up thing about Greek mythology.
This.
Also, the only time Hades was a bad guy was when he refused to give up Persephone, and I'm sorry but a guy can get lonely in hell if he's not a necrophiliac, screw Hercules.
Ever since Disney's Hercules however… gg Hades, you're the bad guy because you are the mythological representation of the devil.
Oh, but wait, you were also the God of the Elysian Fields (heaven)... whoops, guess we forgot about that!!!
Hahahaha no.
:getlost:

In most versions, she was BORN a monster.
What?
Wasn't Medusa brutally raped by Posideon while in Athena's temple and was then blamed by Athena for it?

KRATOS IS MY HERO.
Yes, Medusa was raped by Poseidon. An Kratos is the semi god of power and one of the heralds of ZEUS!!!.
…but he's even more of one.
Less of one.
I SHALL BECOME EVIL TO DESTROY AN EVIL GREATER THAN MYSELF.
Take note that Hera, Zeus's wife, is actually his sister.
And his cousin if you think about it.
