Maybe if it was Bonney, Kidd, or Law, I'd be less irritated.
shit if it freezed up on that mafia dude (the hell was his name again?) I'd be happy but I keep getting it freezed on scratchman Apoo….I swear if he was real i'd kizaru him in the nuts.
bah i'll watch this later.
Just watched the whole episode(not telling how) But it was great Buggy and Luffy in action great as usual

I watched it too on another site. Ironically, it was a ripped Funimation subbed episode. So where to start?
Okay, Buggy is becoming one of my favorite characters because he's so goddamn funny. The way he (attempted to) defeat the Blugori was awesome. And we finally saw Mr.3. Being one of my favorite Baroque Works agents, I except more action out of him next week.
Crocodile, Mr.1, Bon Clay, Jinbei, Ivankov, and Ivazuma aren't too far down the road.
This episode wouldn't been better without the pointless flashbacks. And I think Envy is right about the 4 episode uploading a month thing.
When the new episode was uploaded yesterday, 4 others accompanied it; 36, 37, 38, 39. And 10/31 was technically the first Saturday in the November radius.
Who else here wants a new opening soon?
I think we'll probably get a new opening theme in December/January. Though I hope December, because an awesome new opening with hints of the Whitebeard War would make an awesome Christmas present ^^
KEEPS FUCKING FREEZING AT 00:01
I've watched this god damn Cover Girl ad 7 times now.
The episode still keeps freezing up at Drake for me.
And we'll probably get a new opening once Impel Down is over with around April or so.
I hope they're at least aware that something is wrong with it. =/
I'm not going to go watch it illegally, because I know that at the worst I'll be able to see it in just a week. It'll probably get fixed before then anyways.
But FUNimation REALLY needs to fix their video player. The ads are becoming more and more obnoxious, and they just make the fact that the video player likes to randomly freeze even worse.
Still freezing on Drake. Sometimes it freezes on Killer though, so I consider that an improvement. :getlost:
This is why you watch the episode after the hustle and bustle has left; there's a slimmer chance you'll freeze. ^^
U
I doubt its a traffic problem if it's consistently stopping in the same spot for everyone.
This is why you watch the episode after the hustle and bustle has left; there's a slimmer chance you'll freeze. ^^
U
Not true, last week's episode keeps freezing up for me too.
This weeks' freezes in the middle of the Toei ad. but I have to sit thru that damn red Cliff ad every time I try to fix it.
At this point, I would actually be thankful if I got the Verizon ad with the chubby kids. It'd be better than listening to some actress talk about some "Yes on 2" nonsense.
I'm not expecting it to be fixed till tomorrow. It IS the weekend.
Huh, that's wierd. It wouldn't even load for me last night, but I just watched the entire episode with no problems (unless you count ads), yet there are people who are still having problems. Huh.
fucking scratchman Apoo!!!
that's it i lost my patience and i'm now going illegal
Holy shit for the last time. Why do people expect FUNi to work over the weekend?
@EvilGamerX:
Holy shit for the last time. Why do people expect FUNi to work over the weekend?
I don't. But I don't expect them to expect me to wait until Monday to watch with a 50% chance of viewing pleasure. Thus is why I went illegal this week.
I am grateful to them for doing this, but I wish they would have someone check it over before calling it a day on Saturday night. :/
We're lucky someone is doing something on Saturday night.

I'm a little bit frustrated too… but... seriously, you can't wait to watch it legally?
The video could start working at any time.
I'm freezing at :01 seconds on both my laptop and my PC. Come on, Funi, get your crap together!
I hate the way they do their videos. Just put it on YouTube or Hulu already!
I'm going to hold out for them to fix it, though I did see some clips from the episode. The animation looks great, and I'm really looking forward to getting the player to work.

I'm sorry but I can't.
It could start working any time yes. But it also could not work for an entire week. I don't take my chances when it comes to One Piece.
I'm admitting my sin of going the illegal way to you guys because I feel bad about it, but a One Piece fan has to do what they gotta do. I hope next week's upload won't present the same problem so I won't have to stoop so low.
hmm I didn't have a problem watching the video…

It still makes no sense. How would it kill you to wait a week? I just don't get it.
I mean… "take my chances"... Of what? The episode is not going to vanish off of the site before it starts working again… And if it does by chance take a whole week, you'll have two episodes to watch in one night. :o
I didn't run into any problems watching it yesterday on Funi's website, but that could be because my college campus's internet has a speed of 1 Gbps.
@EvilGamerX:
Holy shit for the last time. Why do people expect FUNi to work over the weekend?
I gave it enough time to work, I went to sleep for 8 hours than after I woke up I waited for another 3 hours well mainly because I actually forgot about it since I was thinking about something else. Than I remembered so after I remembered I tried to watch it and it froze on the retard of the seas, scratchman apoo but now that's old hat since I got it from somewhere else.
Awesome Episode…...after seeing the explanation of how devil fruits work...I kinda want oda to do that with other characters now.

Well whatever. It means I don't have the patience to wait for an episode I really want to see like you do. Is that so hard to understand? >>
Why should I have to wait a week to watch it "legally" just because they didn't check to make sure it worked before upping it?
In any case I should really learn to keep this kind of stuff to myself…

Imo, there is nothing to feel guilty about. I mean, the only difference between watching it "legally" and "illegally" is the ads on the Funimation website. If you have sat through the ads 10+ times, only for the stream to freeze on you every single time, you already "paid your dues" for watching the episode. So going off to some other source shouldn't really matter.

AGAIN, how could you have given it enough time if you didn't even wait until a good portion into the first business day?

You know that doesn't actually make sense. When you download an episode illegally you hurt the industry. Though you may help the industry slightly, the rate at which you're helping is significantly smaller than the rate you'd be hurting if you watched illegally. That number should be far above 100.
For those who are getting frustrated and watching illegally: what the fuck? Go outside, get some exercise, or just read a book or watch some OTHER television. Get your mind off of One Piece until a couple of days later you find that it works. I run a freaking One Piece podcast and have to be thinking about One Piece all the time and I still have been patient and haven't seen the episode. I'm not going to be downloading it illegally, and I don't see how "their time has run out." Even if it comes out Wednesday they're still delivering faster, better subtitling work as far as I'm concerned.

I never saw Yibis do "an Impel Down" or "Second Gear" before.
@Thousand:
I never saw Yibis do "an Impel Down" or "Second Gear" before.
There's nothing wrong with the term "Second Gear" (we discussed it with Rin and others). Yes, Toei has made a couple of grammar mistakes, but I can GUARANTEE you that Yibis, UTSF, and others have made far more. Even the far better fansubbing groups from pre-Funimation days have made tons of noticeable grammar and spelling typos and mistakes such as the one seen in Funimation's version. The fact-of-the-matter is that Funimation delivers the episode far quicker and, I'll say it again, with far more consistent and better quality of subtitling.
Second Gear is another one of Viz's changes. It's unfair to blame FUNi for that.
And spelling/grammar mistakes happen. FUNi has to do a rushjob with these subs.
funi has two weeks to work on each episode, and I think second gear is okay, stop b*ching about it
Oh no another Second Gear argument?
Let me put it in this context.
Race Car Driver: Need to catch up, let's put this into Gear Second!
Just do what I do, when you see a term you don't like (Nakama, Zolo) then have your brain mentally switch to what you want.

Seriously, you're bringing up one misspelling and one (minor) name-change which Toei probably forced on FUNi as a reason why they're inferior to the fansubs? :getlost:

I want my One Piece fix at the time promised, not 5 days later. Granted I could wait if I wanted to but I don't. I've got plenty of other things to turn my mind to, believe me. But what's wrong with anticipating something I enjoy after a rough day of work on Saturday? And then having to get frustrated with a streamed video that should have been checked over before it was released… I support them and the simulcast, but someone seriously needs to check it over.
This whole thing is free. Watching it off of another stream doesn't exactly "hurt the industry", especially considering how much money I am investing into getting the DVDs. I download the HD raw every week even though I watch it on their site. You and others may not like to hear this, but in my book so long as I delete/replace them later when I buy the official DVDs it doesn't weigh on my conscious.
And as far as the stream goes, normally I would not give up so easily when it randomly freezes. But this time it was obvious it was an error on their part that wasn't going to get fixed any time soon.

There's nothing wrong with looking forward to One Piece, in fact it's something that I think is very encouraged. However, you also are looking at your weekly stream of One Piece as an entitlement, as if you've paid some exorbitant fee for it. The fact of the matter is that running a streaming video service often just balances out costs. Matt Stone, of South Park, on the BS Report a couple of weeks ago commented that South Park Studios only made just enough to cover server costs. I'd assume this is the same (or worse) for One Piece Official. If they make a mistake, or take a little time one week, it's not like they still haven't been delivering week-after-week. It's almost like saying if Oda doesn't write and publish a chapter every week that he is betraying, you, you the fan specifically. If Funimation has a server problem they are still – on the cheap -- providing you, the fan, a free, easy, and extremely quick service.
How does fansubbing hurt the industry? Even if I just do it once? It hurts the industry because you are contributing as a peer. I assume you use a bittorrent client of some sort, even if you don't though, the more fansubbers that are out there the more the industry is discouraged and/or the less profit they are able to take in for their product. As I just mentioned, even streaming sites make very little actual revenue. When you get a little impatient and download off of a fansubber's website you are contributing to Toei saying: "well we're not really getting enough viewers, so there's no reason to continue this service" or "this experiment didn't work, there are still fansubbers out there thriving." It may sound ridiculous, but if the simulcast were to not succeed, it'd probably be because of that kind of attitude. I understand why fansubbing for One Piece existed in the first place (ahem 4Kids ahem), but now we have this great alternative, even though there are kinks to work out. It's encouraging that you buy the DVDs and support the official releases, but you're also supporting the unofficial releases and therefore, at best, balancing yourself out.
Out of this, though, what I don't understand is: why can't you even give them one day?

Just to be clear on this, despite how I may have worded it, I'm not really viewing it as something they owe or that I paid for it, as that would contradict my argument as a fansubber to the fans who act this way.
I don't download the fansub, I merely download an HD raw to get the preview that they don't include and for arching purposes. Yes, this is also not right I guess, but it pretty much gets removed off my computer shortly after and stored on disk.
Anyway you do make a good point. Perhaps I am fooling myself into thinking I can't wait when I actually could wait a day for it. I will try and work on my impatience in the future. As I have stated I do support FUNi and the Simulcast and I mean no offense to them or the fans.
@Zach:

…How? He already went through the ads several times, thus FUNi actually got more money from ecwcwwe than they would have if the stream actually worked. Or what, are you claiming that downloading something you've already paid for somehow causes the licensor to lose money?
@Vegard:

What I'm saying is that you're not actually paying for it.
When you pay for a DVD you pay Funimation a hell of a lot more then Funimation gets paid if you reload an advertisement ten times. Funimation is not making much at all off of the simulcast, and if someone thinks that watching the simulcast ten times is equivalent to downloading one episode illegally is in damages, they're kidding themselves. Maybe if you buy the DVD I'd say that's not the case, but that's a different issue entirely. Maybe by reloading the page (going through the ads more) they're getting more money, but a fraction of a cent, or even a couple of cents, times ten is still not too much.

There's nothing wrong with the term "Second Gear"

Still butt-hurt over how I made you look like such a fool in that war thread in the manga section huh? And you finally changed that god-annoying Spongebob avatar after Moria made fun of you because of it.

Seriously, you're bringing up one misspelling and one (minor) name-change which Toei probably forced on FUNi as a reason why they're inferior to the fansubs? :getlost:
ONE minor name change? Hello!?! There's Gear Third as well!!! And don't italicize the "one" like that's all the mistakes they've done, I have other examples, don't you worry.
But this is all irrelevant. I have no intention of dragging things into another translation debate or bashing Funi. That's not my main issue. I learned that the forum is quite happy with Funi's "translations" and have no desire to bring it back up.
I'm just sick and tired of all the cocksuckers making out the Funi subbers to be the Subbing-Gods you used in such a sarcastic context when they're just as you said normal humans who just subtitle episodes like you guys or Instantz. People need to understand that the word "professional" is just a term used to describe someone who's paid to do a certain job and to stop treating Funi as end all especially given that their translations are a tad less reliable due to Toei being such a dick.
@Thousand:
Other than it's wrong.
You mean just Rin (who's a total hypocrite that bitches as much as I do on issues she cares about) and other people following suit with her.

I believe a guy who works at Yibis just told you that you're wrong about that…they all make some pretty glaring grammar and spelling mistakes.
@Thousand:
I like how you're pulling all these facts out your ass.
I dare you to find a fansubbing group that never made a mistake or had a controversial stance on a translation. Hmm…let me pull one out of my ass...Nakama? Not translating attacks? My ass is swelling with all the facts I'm pulling out of it.
@Thousand:
Only for you Americans, us Non-Americans still have to wait for a download.
How the fuck do you know about Funimation's cut then? Why not just download the fansubs and leave us the hell alone about all these 'mistranslations'. You don't have to download the far more unethical, far more illegal Toei rips.
@Thousand:
You can't vouch for anything.
I can: It comes out a half-hour after it airs in Japan, it's a good translation 99% of the time, and it's 100% official and stamped by Toei Animation, the folks who make the fucking series for you to enjoy.
@Thousand:
A shame that Gear Second is a name not a grammatical sentence.
…mild annoyance...mild annoyance...
ONE minor name change? Hello!?! There's Gear Third as well!!! And don't italicize the "one" like that's all the mistakes they've done, I have other examples, don't you worry.

If the changing of the order of words in an anime bothers you so much you probably shouldn't watch it. How hard is it to enjoy the fucking show, because that's all it is, are you inhibited from enjoying the show by the reordering of words or do mild annoyances give you a total funectomy.
Does it prevent you from understanding the story? No.
Let's go ask Oda, oh wait, he doesn't give a shit.
You may think Second Gear is wrong, Third Gear, whatever. No one cares. The people who do care, need to get out of the house. I'm not saying that Gear Second or Second Gear is "better" I'm just saying you're wrong. Toei Animation can call Second Gear "Craptastic Parade" and that'd be the OFFICIAL TRANSLATION, because it's their property, they can do that! You're just some guy sitting in his underwear on your computer.
Yibis are good.
Funi are good.
This argument is tiresome.
