Yeah admirals = Strongest fughting power… And in times of Ohara Sengoku was an admiral as well... not supreme adimral.
Can Fleet-Admiral Sengoku fight?
-
-
If I get right the Gorousei was referring to the current Admirals, as they called them "the stongest in MHQ" not just the "strongest" as rank.
-
After the most recent chapter, I'm starting to think Sengoku isn't a fighter but just a master tactician (maybe like an Usopp-type)

Are the 5 elder guys above Sengoku and that older woman.

I believe a requirement to being an admiral is to be uber strong. And Sengoku used to be an Admiral.
Something that has probably been beaten to death by the semi-sane people of this thread over and over. He can fiiiiiiiiiiight, aight?
Either come up with another argument or continue this cycle to the death, like the insightful IrishLuigi says.
-
I can't see him beating any big time people like the yonkou or admirals, but i think he can at least hold his own. Prob mid to high vice-admiral level.
-
i think this thread question can be answered next week….
-

They're the heads of the WG. Sengoku is the fleet admiral of the Marines, so you could say they're above him.
-
Sengoku is first and foremost a strategist and his fighting power comes from pwngoat. And that's not a joke.
You don't travel 24/7 with a goat without a damn good reason.Pwngoat's DF must be broken. It's probably a mythical Zoan. Sengoku then controls it.
I can see it now: on some island when he was a baby goat, pwngoat ate a devil fruit and as a result became a monster feared by the people there. The marine was dispatched to take care of the situation and that's how Sengoku came into contact with pwngoat. Sengoku defeated pwngoat by befriending him and they've been pals ever since. Due to the awesome powers of pwngoat and his intellectual abilities, Sengoku was promoted to admiral.
-
Pwngoat is Baphomet lol
-
Pwngoat is Baphomet lol
lol whut
EDIT:
Oh, that guy? He's Pwngoat's second cousin, thrice removed from his father's side. Trust me, Pwn is more powerful.

Exactly. But I don't know if Pwngoat is mythical zoan.. I'm going for a high-level logia. Or, perhaps, one whole new kind of devil fruits.
-
Of course he can fight! Former admiral. Besides, WhiteBeard has stated that, Roger, Garp and Sengoku know's the sea way back then. So, he must be some kind of legend and super strong too to be compared with Garp and Roger.
-
I´m pretty sure that we´ll see it soon.
-

Yeah, and Oda's original intention is that WB also mentioned Golden Lion (and pwngoat).
Sengoku's power is too vast so he split it into two form. The buddha one holds the power of God and the devil one (pwngoat, everyone know devil is a goat) holds the power of Satan.
-
Well, the next two or three weeks should finaly reveal Sengoku's battle prowess. I'm sure he CAN fight, being a former admiral and all…
-
I would be extremely disappointed if Sengoku cannot fight or show what he is capable of in this war arc. We know that Crane is called the tactician yet she can fight. I expect Sengoku to follow this trend - he was an admiral afterall…
Make it happen, Oda-sensei!
-
It will happen, and if it, somehow doesn't and Sengoku stands on the platform for the rest of the war, then I would go as far as to say that he actually has a big ass weird DF that ODA does not want us to know yet.
-
I find it amazing that most of the people use the fact that he was an Admiral before as an argument that he can fight instead of using the even more obvious argument which would be that he is a friggin Marine. This is the military for crying out loud. No matter how good in tactics and everything he might be, there's no chance in hell that this dude didn't go through some serious training in the lower ranks.
Ok, perhaps he got promoted Fleet Admiral because he was smarterter, more obediant then other Admirals who were stronger then him. Perhaps he wasn't even the strongest Vice Admiral. Perhaps he was never the strongest in any rank. But still, expecting that a Marine went through all those ranks and years in the military without learning how to fight is beyond ridiculous. And last time I checked this thread wasn't about if he's the strongest Marine but if he can fight at all. And that should have been clear from the get go. So can this ridiculous thread by closed finally?

Most police chiefs and even military generals in the world are overweight paper-pushers who flap their lips.
Hence the reason for doubt.

Still think Admirals > Sengoku.

This is a shonen manga so at least here there should not be any reasons for doubt.
-
24 sites discussion about that
i think the admirals will be the strongest marine guys, who the SH have to defeat somehow on their journey..
but it should be rly out of questions that the highest ranked marine could fight like a highclass fighter..
c`mon sengoku is not spandam…he is a honored well trained marine, who should be on the same or even a little higher level than garp. -
wel they do call him "sengoku the buddha" s he's a strategist
-
wel they do call him "sengoku the buddha" s he's a strategist
Tsuru is called a tactician and she can still fight, sengoku was a previous admiral and you don't get that position by being smart you get it for being strong.
-
He can fight. He's a former admiral. While he was an admiral, aokiji and akainu were vice-admirals. Probably sengoku is stronger than those 3 admirals.
-

Then you're a raging moron.

i don't think sengoku is currently stronger than any of the 3 admirals. he was probably once a very powerful guy but just like whitebeard and garp have lost some of their edge then surely sengoku has as well. from what we've seen sengoku isn't even at the front lines anymore so he has probably lost a bunch of power since his early days. don't get me wrong he can probably still easily defeat many pirates but i don't think he would stand a chance against the likes of shanks or the other emperors. he might have a chance to defeat whitebeard now that he has weakened due to age and that giant sword wound.
-
Sure, everyone can fight! a "weakling" like Ussop also can fight with tactic and strategy.
I didn't said Sengoku can't fight! the question is, how well he can fight? is he a real combatant?
My money goes to Admiral are better combatant than the Fleet-Admiral. I even believe Garp figth better than Sengoku.
Don't ask me why, because you're not going to accept it. Just the Freedom of "Belief".

Whitebeard also isnt even at the front lines.

Garp figth better than Sengoku.:
I disagree. They would be equal, or Sengoku's stronger.
-

That is just my guessing. I'm ok that u say Sengoku is stronger. please Don't bother what i said. i just told u what i believe, and i don't even want to fight for it. Good Day!

Because I believe something that is stated in the manga? Or because my opinion disagree with others? Maybe you are even a bigger moron…

Look at this Phenomonyl talking dong.
"THE MANGA SUPPORTS ME WITH THIS NON SPECIFIC COMMENT THAT IN NO WAY SINGLES OUT AKAINU AS THE ONLY PERSON BACK THERE WHO IS STRONG"

Sure, because that's my only post on this tread, and because I was talking about that comment and not about my others arguments.

Whitebeard also isnt even at the front lines.
just because it was said that whitebeard hadn't made any huge splashes in the world does not mean he was not on the front lines. hell we saw him in action during ace's flash back. so he was still on the front lines a few year ago. looked like sengoku was the fleet admiral during that time so he has definitely been away front the front lines for way longer than whitebeard.

You know, I realize we're asking if Sengoku can fight…in One Piece. There's a shorter list of people who can't fight. Sengkou being a marine, of course he can fight.
Can he fight at the top level? Probably, but I doubt he's as strong as the admirals. It seems ridiculous for Oda to introduce a fighter stronger then the admirals when the admirals are currently invincible. I mean, we haven't even seen these guys fight that much, what use is a marine that's even more powerful then them? Also, why do people think having one guy be stronger then the admirals is a good idea?
The fact that Sengoku was an admiral can easily be explained away. The current three admirals are known as the marines strongest fighting force in their group. The problem is people are assuming this applies to every admiral, ever, for all time, when at the time it could have meant just those three admirals. Sengoku simply achieved his rank, and was probably the the strongest marine of his time, but the current admirals are stronger.
That also brings up another question. Assuming there were always three admirals, where did the other two of Sengoku's time go? We know that the two current Admirals, Akainu and Ao Kiji, were Vice Admirals in Sengoku's time, so even if we assume Kizaru was an admiral way back then it still leaves one uncounted for. Did they just die out or something? Of course, that's just assuming that the marines always have three admirals at a time, it could just be that Sengoku was the only guy good enough to make that rank, and they keep the rest at Vice Admiral regardless of how many Admirals they have--none are promoted unless they deserve it.
-
Garp^^^^^^
Why would they send a VA chasing after the Pirate King. They respected his strength but was never promoted in all his years beyond VA because of behavior? That is a more believable scenario than he just lost rank as two or 3 guys surpassed him in the 20 years since Roger?
-

Whoever said that Garp was a Vice Admiral back then? With the Marine being a military organization it might as well be the case that Garp was an Admiral once and got demoted.
As for the reasoning, how about saving Roger's child. Sengoku surely seems to know about Garps involvement in the entire matter. I'm not saying it is a must but I find it strange that the so called "Hero of the Marines" is "just" a Vice Admiral.
Personally I believe that whatever he did to be considered a hero ("capturing" Roger perhaps) is what made him get away with only being demoted.

maybe garp is the one who took down kinjishi? from the movie it looks like kinjishi has it in for the marines and maybe garp is the reason? maybe kinjishi was threatening the marines in the past?
-
Personaly i dont think Garp was demoted, as much as he stepped down in favor for the younger generation.
-
Wouldn't it be ironic if he stepped down to let Akainu in…
-
Aokiji is obviously his protége. The inapropriate sleepiness, the carefree attitude, and the use of violence to get your points across. There can only be one man who offers such great techings to the young'uns.
-
Even if he an't fight, he has proven why he is head of the Marines. Every move WB makes, he already has planned. WBs experience is all that seems to be helping his cause.
-

Maybe they just retired or one of them became a Yonkou for the lulz.

1- Sengoku
2- Garp? I guess.
3- Kizaru/Someone else.Fleet Admiral Pwngoat

Than he should step down from his current position in favor for the younger generation
-
I'd like to see Garp being demoted after a heated round of butt-whupping by Akainu.
