@Greg:
Did you plan that? ;)
No, just worked out that way.
But really Im definitely surprised and probably because of how I read the series in broken spurts. The whole SS thing _**felt**_ really long but I also read straight through it. I never imagined that this arc was not only as long, but longer. SS seriously started like what…around volume 6ish? Then ended in 20? That
s a mere 14 volumes and this mammoth has (THUS FAR 0_0) been 21 volumes???? I mean, it bugged me that they fought that licker guy for a year or more before he FINALLY went down but I never realized that literally half of the entire series has been spent on this.
Considering that the first few volumes simply established the setting and focused on introducing the characters, I don't know that I'd differentiate between them and the Soul Society Arc seeing as how the latter is the direct result of what happens in the first few volumes and said volumes spend the vast majority of their time explaining the powers of Ichigo, Orihime, Chad, and Uryu.
@Megadoomer:
No; there's likely going to be either an arc focusing on Aizen attempting to become king (because even though he's lost here completely, he's somehow going to win, knowing Kubo) or a Hell arc, and either of those would likely be longer than Hueco Mundo.
You really think that Bleach will make it to 70 volumes? Because that's pretty much what will have to happen if the next arc is longer than Hueco Mundo.
