I saw it. hahahahaahh that's timing. It's too bad I can't read it.
I only translate it because it was a ridiculous and stupid spoilers. I want to kill the one who CREATED these spoilers. (Not you, Marco) XD
So, I need to create a thread to post the translation??
Silence! Go read the rules! And hahaha, the post that was right above yours made it clear enough with, "DON'T TALK ABOUT SPOILERS HERE!"
Okey okey, yur a good forum moderator.
The proper way to do things would be to submit a thread in the spoiler section and then wait for it to get approved. We don't approve unconfirmed spoilers, so submit and wait.

Never ever translate spoilers real, fake or stupid in a chapter discussion thread.
Lest ye be judged…
lol im very sorry

Yessir!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
So just where is the unconfirmed spoiler forum then. This was going to be amusing.
There is not such a thing. Last week was an exception on BF's sayso.
I'd like to ask if there's a chapter this week o_O Cause i don't see any spoiler thread yet..
So just where is the unconfirmed spoiler forum then. This was going to be amusing.
yu can wait. yu can read the posts before while waiting (nothing interesting only blablabla mesenger chat and nothing about one piece).
Mirko says he'll likely do a simple cam pic spoiler for today (around 4PM JST - 10 hours from now ) if nothing has appeared in the meantime, he'll leave the full scan RAW to Emporio from now on.

Good to know thanks BF.
ah great, so when I wake up. I see spoilers
Y'know, this chapter makes me start to see why Crocodile thinks that friendhsip is stupid… Think about it, here in the One Piece world, we have someone who makes this big suicide run, and attacks a Warlord because a guy made a hat for him.
...
A hat.
…
Now, I can understand why he would help free Ace because Ace was kind to him, but to make a suicide run right into Marine HQ, attack a Warlord (and the one with the highest bounty at that), keep rampaging while you're pretty much done, and get yourself killed… Because the guy you're trying to save gave you a hat once?!
I mean, it's a great chapter, but I just couldn't get over that…
And people wonder why I like villains so much more than the good guys...
Nah the chapter wasn't good at all and the whole hat and Oars thing is just stupid. It's Oda once again trying to force emotional impact on the readers…I felt something alright..A waste of time.
I got more impact from Barragan and Aizen's flashback!

Battle Franky, I just want to say that your avatar makes me trust everything you say.
I have no comment on your news, I just - I just wanted to say that.
Are we going to get scanlation on thursday? Want to know because if spoiler comes tomorrow i might as well wait for full scanlation.
sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeet.

In all honesty I think its just Oda actually going too fast for his own good. Pacing has been all over the place since Amazon Lily and a lot of plotlines that normally would have been better fleshed out as time went one, get their beginning in one chapter and the end a couple chapters later which leaves any emotion he may be trying to elevate, come off as forced. Than the fact we have the descendant of a guy Luffy beat come out of no where one chapter and 'die' the next does not bring out all the emotions he may have wanted to. Some say the 'war' is already dragging on, but its actually just Oda going through too many things at once and we don't have any lingering feelings.
We are all waiting for something to cling, to get excited. A clear goal other than "Save Ace". We need a how thrown in there somewhere. Something to keep us as readers focused. The war is chaotic, but so is the pacing, and its leaving a bad taste in peoples mouths (including mine, hopefully Luffy shows up next chapter so we can really get down to business instead of just exposition of other characters, Oda could have shown that stuff off while Luffy was focus too just as easily).

I love this chapter and I think Oda did a great job with getting the reader involved with the emotional battle WB/Crew and Ace is going through (on top of everything else hitting the fan) as seeing Oars die before his very eyes.
Oars was a faithful nakama and Ace did for him what no one would do. Imagine being that big and having to live day by day, Ace was loving enough to think about that and made something useful for Oars and he obviously LOVED it and used it in every occasion.
Ace and crew lost a good friend and this is just the incentive needed to make everyone go all out.
Also it comes to show how evil and heartless some the shichi's are (especially Don Flamingo) which I have grown a hatred for and a wishing of Luffy bashing his face in multiple times…which is very jizz.
Yep. 2nd Ship from the left.
http://www.onemanga.com/One_Piece/551/12-13/And in オーズ , the "o" is not silent, "ー" stretches it out.
Hm, I believe I can accept that, but I also I am still a little skeptical because there have been other spelling errors regarding names…I can't remember where, but I know I have seen them. And I never said the O was silent, it was the "U" in "Zu" (ズ).
you need to change your name
That was uncalled for. Please, I am trying to have a civilized discussion here about my concern of the name of a major character. Go play somewhere else.

This statement is absurdly false.
I wasn't really feeling this chapter either, or even the last one. It's important to establish Whitebeard's strength in an actual fight, of course, but it seems time-inefficient and really gratuitous to devote whole chapters (even 15-page ones) to Whitebeard and his forgettable crew.
The whole stuff involving setting Ace's friends and crewmates up to potentially get mowed down by the Marine elites seems like an entirely too telegraphed and fairly desperate attempt at pathos, even for a comic targeted at relatively naiive kids. Wow, Ace's nameless friends whom I've never met before are about to get mowed down in massive numbers by a bunch of superpowered vice admirals. This sounds to me more like a gag than a tragedy, like the Suicide Squad at the end of Life of Brian. I'm predicting a repeat of Vivi at this rate. "PLEASE STOP THE FIGHTING!" "Girl, you DO know this is a Jump comic, right?"
So yeah, boo friggin' hoo to Ace's forgettable one-chapter giant friend. When OP takes the time to develop a character and then kills em off, I might feel a little bad for 'em. If they just kill a bunch of nameless mooks off en masse like they did in Robin's flashback, I just do what I can to restrain my cynical laughter. (Seriously, Oda REALLY overdid it in Robin's flashback. I know her past was supposed to be especially bloody, but goddamn, that went way over the "oh, that's so sad" line into the hyperbolic Wolverine turf of "EVERYONE I EVER KNEW OR LOVED DIES OR EXPLODES, USUALLY BOTH". Dial it down a notch, Oda!)
I love how most people posting "OMGWTF, what a crappy chapter, crap, crap, crap, Oars Jr. not cute dun care 'bout him, just start the real fightin' already, juz kill those nameless WB pirates en masse right away, what's with all this set up i dun like" are people who have join dates of Aug 2009.
This chapter must be really bad to encourage people to register at AP just to bash the chapter. Personally, I like that Oda showed a little sidestory to Oars Jr. rather than have him attack and get pawned without even giving us an idea why he wants to save Ace to the point of being suicidal.
i don't think this chap was bad at all
IgnorantSage: I love how the best method you can find to attack my opinion is to ignore it altogether and attack my join date. You don't even have the decency to name your target, which is quite obviously me (three pages back, I'm the only guy knocking this chapter with an AUGUST 2009 join date). Luffy wouldn't play that shit, yo.
Calling it a "setup" is a bit too generous, I think, it's more like a drumroll to introduce a stage act that goes on entirely too long. Besides the purely cosmetic role of slapping around random marines, WB has basically one role in the story, which is to serve as flashback filler relevant to Roger and to eventually get knocked off or somehow permanently sidelined so as to shake up the status quo in the New World. None of his crew really have any function in the story beyond "we're Ace's bros, if we died he'd be sad", and Orz/Oars/Odz Jr. is little different in that regard. We've already had far better opportunities to establish how pro Ace is at making friends (Alabasta and the run-in with Buggy did a better job of that, I thought); I for one don't really need it beat into my head with OH MY GOD RANDOM GIANT GUY DIED, TOO SAD FOR SCHOOL.
Also, I joined around three weeks ago. Dick.

Exactly, I really think that Oda should have condensed these little "friend intros" alot smaller, but then again what's smaller than a chapter, especially when the last Oars that fought lasted an entire volu….wait, August 2009? Shut up, stop chapter bashing and go back to lurking! We rule this forum here! SPC rulezzzz!
You people keep saying Oars Jr got suicidal! In my humble opinion Oars Jr thought that he can actually do something, just imagine yourself filled with adrenaline and wanting to save a friend.
And then BAM!!! several shichi came at your face. Just imagine the U2 song "stuck in a moment" as Don Flamingo jumped over a gigantic Oars to cut his legs.
So there you go Oars Jr just got stuck in a fucking messed up moment :))
@Fiasco.:

I still think it comes down to pacing issues. As a stand alone chapter I think it was fantastic, but this fused with the past couple string of chapters makes this chapter tiring and dragging. I know Oda really wanted to show off a war of pirates between the marines on as massive scale as possible, but he seems to have forgotten as of late that its the strawhats adventure that people really care about or at least thats what it was that really got people involved in the series up to this point. A couple chapters of exposition is nice for setup, but there comes a time when tension of the outcome of a struggle is too tiring, where we just want him to get on with something else.
I hope he realizes this and has Luffy enter the fray next chapter and by the chapter after that sets up end game resolve and how the end of the arc will come about. If nothing else at least a focus point where people can even cheer, right now it is literally chaos, both in the series and general direction this arc is going. He has built up enough tension, its time for a focus. Again as a stand alone chapter I actually really enjoyed it, but the narrative has been lost in translation without that focus that "readers" can get on, and not just hopelessly follow a spectator of manslaughter in a series notorious for characters cheating death lol.
Man, sometimes I feel like I'm the only person that's really enjoying the Strawhats being out of the picture for a good while. I love their stuff, but holy fuck do I really love all the other characters that have been getting focus lately: all the WG people and the WB pirates.
Ever since the Supernovas got introduced, I've been aching for some focus solely about the other pirate crews. Like some of the shit that Kid's been doing during his journey or Drake's whole mysterious rear-admiral -> pirate deal. Which I'm sure will be dealt with, down the road, but lkdsfjdkf these recent storylines totally make my day.
I think Oars did exactly what Luffy would have done/will still probably do. And he took down the giants, a vice-admiral and cut open a path for the rest of WB's allies. And then he got owned.
My only beef with this chapter was the feeble attempt at developing his character in 3 pages to cause emotion in the readers when he fell. I think I'd feel worse for him if no stupid flashback happened, and there were more scenes of him resisting the focus fire.
But not a really bad chapter overall.
people complain when manga like bleach only ever show the main character than complain when a manga like one piece show cases them
people complain when manga like bleach only ever show the main character than complain when a manga like one piece show cases them
Bleach's main characters are boring and often times don't 'lead' to interesting developments. Luffy's personality basically guarentees something new happening around him at every corner so its not an issue (I never get tired of Luffy and his simple hijinks). Don't get me wrong I like seeing other characters, but recently they have come off as fanservice rather than practical in the way they are exposed. I quick change of pace would have changed my mind completely. You also have to understand (from my point of view) I analyze how other authors move plots forwards and "why" certain people don't like certain developments or people feel uneasy with the story. Im trying to be a novel writer so I try to detect why some people don't like something as a pure research reason.
You can't please everyone, and even I feel at unease from something as of late and I personally think its the pacing of information and how its presented, and not neccesarily the content. I already said I liked this chapter as a stand alone though :P.
I just want Luffy to break in and assrape everyone.

Speak for yourself. I see no fault in the pacing. It's one of the many things Oda is brilliant at.@Croy:

This story isn't only about Luffy. These events are of vital importance to the world of One Piece. The exposition is necessary. What exactly would Luffy be doing that warrants him being the focus instead of the huge war going on?
Luffy will have his entrance. And it will be grand. You can bet on it. Until then patients dear grasshopper.

How do Saul, Clover, and Robin's mother Nico Olivia count as nameless mooks?
I almost can't believe that so many people are complaining about the past few chapters. Y'know it's not like these chapters are paying off things that were setup years and years ago or anything.
I've been wondering for nearly a decade if I'm even reading the same series as most of you.

…Ichigo hasn't been in the manga for like half a year.

Yeah, the Marines/BB/Sengoku/Garp/Doflaming/Pandaman or whoever is destined to put WB out of the picture should just do it now, let's just do away with Oda's futile attempts at character development of side-characters since they'll be finished off in one chapter anyway. :getlost:
I understand how some people prefer things faster-paced, doing away with unnecessary (yes, I admit they're unnecessary) flashbacks, but that's no reason to say that Oda sucked at these chapters since obviously some people liked these little touches.
This will be a little exaggerated but I think if Oda wrote the manga at the pace you liked then it would be like:
Chapter 551: WB arrives, introduction of his stronger fighters
Chapter 552: Low to mid-tier WB allies attack, facing off against low to mid-tier marines, they get wiped off/incapacittated by an uber attack by one of the top-tier characters
Chapter 553-554: Top-tiers proceed to battle each other, few twists here and there
Chapter 555: WB enters the fray, proceeds to own everyone else
Chapter 556: Plot twist! Somebody gets WB! But Luffy crashes the party
Chapter 557: Little speech by WB how times are changing, Luffy rescues Ace
Chapter 558: Epilogue for the arc
And voila! we're done with the arc, no unnecessary battles, no unnecessary flashbacks, just fast-paced action in order to progress the plot.

I've been wondering for nearly a decade if I'm even reading the same series as most of you.
I've been waiting for this since January 07. I want Oda to take his sweet time detailing the carnage and have fantastic fights between Warlords, Marines, and Pirates (who knows? Maybe Revolutionaries too if Dragon decides to carpe diem.)
You know how fast-paced it already is going? Oda is really speeding it along. Akainu, the guy who's power everyone had been eagerly waiting for, had a chapter title devoted to him, but he only appeared in it for like 3 pages.

There are two things which I think are wrong, or at least heading in the wrong direction in this arc. And one of them is what you just mentioned. I didn't say once the pacing was too slow, I said it lacked focus. I think it lacks focus because it actually is going WAY too fast for its own good. Oda isn't taking time to give people a focus to cheer for, the closest he has come to this is this chapter with Oars but because there was little to no setup for the emotional conflict, it came out forced and just as quick as it came, the focus was gone the minute the chapter ended. Thus if he took some time in a previous chapter to actually setup this potential conflict it wouldn't be a problem and we as readers would have something to cheer for or be engaged with.
The second issue is something I hinted at already in my observation. Its too chaotic, and it leaves me as a reader questioning what will happen next and not in a good way. You can have plot twists all you want, but you don't leap people into action without at least a focus. The top tiers just started fighting almost for the sake of fighting, its like they lost the reason they are there, obviously thats not exactly true but thats the way the pacing of the story comes off as. I do have faith though focus will be obtained in the next couple of chapters. I want to find out what 'role' the impel down group has in this extremely over the top war. If not that than at least another character to cheer on that actually lasts more than one chapter.
