It's about the different match ups that one faces.
Enel, can be considered one of the strongest logia users; especially down below Sky Island because his use of electricity (water is conductive). However, Luffy was his natural enemy. IF Enel defeated WB hypothetically; it does not mean Luffy can defeat WB just because he defeated Enel. Those two circumstances are independent of one another.
The same can be said about recent events, does not demean the status that Mihawk is the strongest swordsman but just illustrates the fact that he might be meeting his rock against one of the WB captains.
On a side note, where did Garp go? Wasn't he next to the old Marine women?

Really short chapter due to all the spreads but I think it's also one of those necessary setup chapters. Plus, all the spreads were shots of badass pirates and marines so I'm not to upset. Can't want for the translation.

exactly. Crocodile said you never know how fruits are going to match up. This isn't DBZ where powerlevel is easily defined and we know who is stronger than who right off the bat. Some people are clearly more powerful than others but if they meet their opposite you never know what could happen….
It still boggles the mind how people can even complain about this particular battle of all battles, almost all the biggest cards on the table at the biggest story junction point since Luffy setting out to be a pirate and we get WAHH SLOW MOVING from the ADD mafia.

For the whole Mihawk issue, I am positive he is stronger than Shanks in terms of sword skills (from what we have seen up to now, since we barely seen any of them fight). Reason being Mihawk has the World's greatest swordsman title. I reckon people are only saying Shanks is stronger since he is Yonkou status (don't get me wrong I didn't say weak), but in my opinion to be a Yonkou; one you need to be strong and secondly you need influential power in the Grandline, enough power to live like an emperor. You will need a large crew and definitely be a renown pirate. As seen in previous chapter we have seen Whitebeard with territories and most likely the other Yonkou's will have territories too. How else does one rule and live like an emperor in the New World without territories? Mihawk is lacking the crew at the moment and probably the man power to be a Yonkou (or just not part of his agenda, prolly cbf); we haven't seen any crew members from him. With all that being said he is probably stronger than Shanks (in terms of sword fighting and in a 1v1) because he has the World's greatest swordsman title. So from my viewpoint Hawkeyes is weaker than Whitebeard (World Strongest dude? Closes to Pirate King? Tied with Roger?) and probably stronger than Shanks assuming Shanks is a swordsman (highly probable). The real question is Shank's weapon of choice a sword?
Now onto Mihawk's slash on Jozu, was probably some generic first class slash, maybe intended just to check what Whitebeard will do, he probably wasn't expecting Jozu to jump in.
Just my opinion on things.

It's funny because it was clearly an attack done just to show Joz off as not a pushover, yet some take it as Joz being the rock to Mihawk's scissors, when to me it's no different from when Robin 1st appeared and disarmed all the Strawhats including Zoro, Sanji, and Luffy. So did that mean she was stronger than them? Hell no.

Nice chapter… things are getting started nicely. Still Oda resents from showing us Akainu !!! I wonder who Whitebeard will battle... or will he just crush a hell of a lot of people at once.
