Isn't that like saying that Bellemere had no reason to save Nami and Nojiko?
Chapter 550 "Marine Headquarters" Discussion

If Whitebeard knows about Ace, couldn't that affect his decision whether or not he wants to save him?
As for the Jimbei hint, Dragon would be aware that Ace isn't his son…so he really has no reason to show up anymore. Unless saving Ace is somehow advantageous for the revolutionaries.
Wrong. Dragon probably knows that his son will try to save Ace… And maybe Kuma has something to do with Dragon. We know that they know each other

I like my idea that the Moby Dick is a submersible.
-
It is going to be funny when Buggy will see what is actually going on in Marine Headquorters

Only one word - you are heartless, shame on you.
-
I like my idea that the Moby Dick is a submersible.
And you are sarcastic over my theories…
-
Too bad the WG couldn't keep Jimbei on their side. He could be out there scouting for them or talking to his little fish friends.
-
I like my idea that the Moby Dick is a submersible.
well, considering it's form it can be true

I had a thought just now. Don't know if anybody's had it yet but to tell the truth I'm not about to skim 13 pages of thread to find out.
I don't think Whitebeard's on his ship.
It just strikes me as odd we haven't seen Whitebeard at all. Not just the military's ignorance of his movements, but the fact that we the readers haven't seen him at all, either. From a military standpoint, taking out every scout patrol that's come after Whitebeard is a perfectly sensible move. It keeps his movements secret and removes forces that would otherwise be used against him. But from a storytelling standpoint, however, my opinion is showing us Whitebeard and showing us how furious and determined he is would be a fine way to up the tension. But that has yet to happen.
My thinking, Shanks did win that climactic battle aboard the Moby Dick and either took out Whitebeard enough that he wouldn't be able to save Ace, or simply shook up Whitebeard enough that he isn't sure he alone could do it on his own. As a result, Whitebeard is, for one reason or another, in no condition to rescue Ace and Shanks is taking responsibility by leading the mission.
I also realized this revelation has put a whole new angle on Ace's actions. The son of the Pirate King has no aspirations for the title himself. Instead he's dedicated himself to making one of Roger's foremost rivals the King. A rival he regards as more of a father than his own.
-
Aren't all ships submersibles in this region due to the coating technique?
-
Isn't the thread for this.

when you said he was off his ship i thought u had something
maybe the he's on a quicker smaller ship with his main men secretly already in marinefordbut what you continue to say was just wrong
plus wasn't shanks taking on kishido while wb crew took out marine shipsu saying shanks took on two emporos and marine ships by himself:getlost:

you mean Kaidou

I don't think it would. I believe the tension will stay at it's highest while we are unaware. We, nor the marines, have any idea of when the war will break out. It's that very mystery-shrouding that keeps the tension as high as it is. Almost feels like a war was about to start in real life, does it not?
-
Isn't that like saying that Bellemere had no reason to save Nami and Nojiko?
Is that in reference to Dragon? Because if it is, so far we have had every indication that Dragon was not involved at all in Ace's and Luffy's lives–so why would he care for them?
Only one word - you are heartless, shame on you.
Just speaking the truth :D. I will concede that my thought about Whitebeard changing his mind might spring from so-called "heartlessness", but it stems from thinking that Whitebeard and Roger were mortal enemies :O.
-
Shanks was taking on a Sanji fanboy? Makes perfect sense even for a Neomaster theory. I don't see Zoro in it though. Maybe he's busy saving Zoro. I mean Ace.
-
ok let me do some dot connecting here..
I'll start off with brook
he's been on the rumbar ship for 50 years. he rarely met any people, and they probably evaded him, so news had no way of reaching him. yet he new about a rookie called gol d. roger. which must mean that roger started his pirate career 50 years ago. that would make him around 66. Now, i believe roger is garp's younger brother and the father of ace, which would make all of them have a blood relation. And, like we saw in this chapter, there's a lot beyond garp, he keeps/kept tons of things secret from the WG
-

He's related to Luffy and Garp, so we can expect him to be a similar type of person. Luffy wouldn't just abandon someone like that simply because they weren't related to him. I'm not saying anything for certain, but I do find fault in assuming that Dragon doesn't care. If nothing else, Ace is the "brother" of his son.

That first part's also a possibility. For the other, I admit that is a weak spot in that section of the theory, but still: Shanks does have a crew. Whitebeard is one thing, but there's no reason he'd have to face any other threat alone. And do we know it was Shanks himself or was it just Shanks' ship? The Marine's intel on the Emperors isn't very reliable right now thanks to the patrol ships' destruction. All we really know for sure is Kaido's forces made a move on Whitebeard's and were intercepted by Shanks's.@herr_sebbe:

Both work in their own ways. As I said, that's just my opinion. Though either way I think the lack of seeing Whitebeard at all is setting us up for something. I don't know what it might be outside of my own guess, but I'm positive there's something up here.

The only thing bugs me in this chapter was that 20 months pregnancy thing, even one piece logiclessness has limit…
The rest were pure awesome.

i personally think that sengoku is lying out of his ass

I think the only reason that seems so implausible is in every story ever read human pregnancy is fairly constant. Barring disaster it's nine months for a baby. It's far more entrenched in reality than things like the Devil Fruit, Kalbautermann and so on. Such things are part-and-parcel with this type of series so we know to go with the flow.
I find it odd too, but willpower is a strong force in the One Piece world so I can't put it past a sufficiently motivated Mama Bear to pull something like this off if she felt she had to. Plus, Sengoku described it as a "trick", suggesting there's more to it than we currently know.
-
Doctors can use medicine to cause birth to come early (it's called "inducing labor") so it stands to reason (in manga logic, anyway) that there would be way to prolong the birth as well.
-
Where the hell is Sentoumaru ? Maybe he will appear with 100 pacifistas out of nowhere…. He must be the secret weapon.
-
Sentoumaru is the bodyguard of Vegapunk. So unless Vegapunk is there, Sentoumaru isn't going to be there..
-
WB will probably take out half of the marines with his Haki.
WB doesn't use haki. Pretty sure. No one does in his crew. Most of his men didn't even know about it when Shanks showed.
-
I'm not sure they didn't know about Ambition, so much as they were so completely unprepared for it. There's no indication one way or the other about Whitebeard's ability to use it.
-
I think that Marines will kill Ace just before Luffy get in with his co. After this Luffy freaked out and start to rage. Total mental break down.
And this brother thing. Is it just possible, that Luffy and Ace are not biological brothers. Why you guys have to try push these stupid theories up. Ace is son of Roger. Thats it. No hard feelings.
-
There are 16 WB" divison commanders, Ace is executed and Thatch is dead, that makes them 14, 2 are Marco and Jozu, so Oda may introduce another 12 characters
-

Page 3 Chapter 550. I think its safe to assume WB can do what Shanks did.
If old peg leg says he didn't do anything but sit there, his spirit must be amazing.
-
In the case of the baby boy Portagas D Ace
pause
Monkey D Dragon
YOU ARE NOT THE FATHER
My exact thought process
-
I'm sorry, but Oda needs to come up with better reasoning than just "devotion" or whatever. This latest twist has me a bit upset. Almost like he did it just so it would be shocking.
Please, One Piece, don't let this be a sign of jumping shark.
-
Just speaking the truth :D. I will concede that my thought about Whitebeard changing his mind might spring from so-called "heartlessness", but it stems from thinking that Whitebeard and Roger were mortal enemies :O.
What kind of "truth" you speaking about? You seriously aspect that from person, who made the entire world to shake in the fear from one thought alone to harm his nakama? Mortal enemies? On his level there only rivals - he fight equally which Roger

hey stop mocking me i never said Zoro would save ace or himself :getlost:

Anyone else find the cities chosen in the Blues to be a little strange? I mean, different cultures and all, but Unlike the Grand Line, the Blues (to themselves) should be in fairly good contact with one another. They have compasses, maps, and in East Blue's case, even bridges connecting the islands (some of them). Not to mention all the seasons would be the same throughout the islands.
By the way, I know the Grand Line's excluded from this rule, but did anyone else notice that it's Winter in the Northern Hemisphere (and thus Summer in the Southern), based on the fact that it's snowing in North Blue and it's tropical and bright in South and West Blue. But then why is East Blue all Sunny and Warm, too? Where Robin is/was (Tequila Wolf) it's Snowing…
Arrgh, it doesn't make any sense.

Ok I really like how the since the amazon island, everything is progressing so fast compared to the normal pace. And we're about to see some more action! I have a whole bunch of random thoughts, well predictions:
There has been twice a mention of how the wind slowed down the ship when Luffy was traveling, I don't think that is a coincidence. I think it's foreshadowing of something Dragon is doing.
Not sure if Ace knows Black Beard is his father, but from his non surprised reaction to the news and the translation of his talk with Garp it is certainly possible he does. Ace says that both his and Luffy's father is a criminal mastermind - you don't even need to add plural there to be able to talk about two different dads! Then Garp says "[your father].. being who he is", if this is the same as ".. considering who your father is" then it could be about Gol D. Roger. In fact it has to be, because Garp knows the truth, Roger asked him to take care of his son!
Oda is saving a pirate with an eye patch for a very special one. Shanks is now engaged with the third yonkou because the latter wanted to stop WB. Could the unaccounted for fourth yonkou be the eye patch guy? :) Ok that was just a random thought.
Looking at the nice spreads in this chapter, it would seem like the clothing of the 3 admirals depicts their moral standards. Akainu is all black, and he's the evil one. Ao Kiji is his opposite, with his light outfit, he is a good guy but follows his own moral code. Kizeru is striped dark and light, meaning he is more neutral. He'll just follow the law, like Garp.
The one I am missing though in this chapter, is Sentoumaru with his Pacifista squad. (and whatever else Vegapunk has cooked up that can help) Oh and I think the straw hats might encounter Alvida and the rest of the Buggy pirates before they get to Marinford. They're sailing around there somewhere anyway.
Ok that were some random thoughts.. about the war.. if the marines lose here to WB, aren't they pretty much finished? They're gathered just about everything they have. (or do they have access to a nuke like Pluton, I forgot) And if the central authority was crushed, the title Shichibukai would be rather meaningless.. maybe they'll just betray the marines, and turn on them or simply not fight at all?
I'm not sure how exactly this war is going to go, just that WB is definately coming - it is sure because of all the scout vessels disappearing. But it will probably be very different than a simple all out war. There's some other plot elements that might reach their pinacle here and throw us a curveball. We know Doflamingo has been planning something. Kuma saving the strawhats and whispers something to Rayleigh - he's also up to his own scheming. And like I said before, it looks like Dragon is coming aswell.
And last but not least, Black Beard has some master plan in motion aswell! He added Shiryuu to his crew, but he's doing something else at Impel Down, and by what BB said, he's probably also going to make some kind of move!
~In any case it has to reach some kind of status quo, after which Luffy and the other members of the crew (who probably had "power upgrades" because of the places they were all brought to) gather back at Shabondy to sail on with their coated ship.

all i can say is that im glad roger is not luffy secret father or some shit like that.
-
@Shaman:
all i can say is that im glad roger is not luffy secret father or some shit like that.
Luffy is Roger's clone, and was made by Vegapunk as an experiment to see if Roger commanded fate by placing him as a rookie years later. This is the reason why Kuma spares them all the time. He is commanded by Vegapunk not to interfere with the strawhats, in a dicotomous decision to not alter fate by not interfering, when actually this choice already alters their fate. When Roger obtained One Piece, the power to command the fates by understanding the unity of everything, Vegapunk extracted from his dead body genetic material to see if the essence of One Piece was still in effect.
Ultimately Vegapunk desires to see if in fact Luffy will become the pirate king to test the mythical One Piece's power, thus believing that in fact it was Luffy's (and originally Roger's) power that makes fate favour him so that he can achieve his desire. What he doesn't realize is that it was not Luffy who was aided by the fates, but that the fates of everyone were set in motion long before, at the time of the execution when Gold Roger began the New Pirate Age with the power and influence that One Piece gave him.
How blown away are you?
What?
-
so…... so much tension.... must have next...
anyone wan't 10k$? -
Man. All I can say is that this was one hell of a 550th chapter.
It was quite interesting seeing the voices of the people from all around the world, especially the nun at the end.
The lengths to which the world government has gone to make sure that Ace isn't rescued is nothing short of intimidating. It really shows what odds Luffy and the gang are going to be up against.
And what can I say? Ace being Rogers son. Biggest plot twist of the year. And the build up to it was extraordinary. The 20 month pregnancy is the only thing that seems a bit weird to me. I mean, that's more than twice the length of a normal pregnancy. Other than that, it was all completely epic. Well done Oda. You never cease to amaze me.
Oh, and I can tell just from her shadow that Rouge is a total MILF.

@Fire Fist:

Arrgh, it doesn't make any sense.
Because East is warm but that matters where.Under east we usually include Asia and most of the year that part of the world is warm. While North Asia has a lot of snow.At the start of the spring there is snow. You can say in One Piece world it's Spring Blue while West Blue is Autumn Blue.Robin is just at the nirth of East Blue.

I just wanna see akani in action notice he's not wearing a tie
maybe he's not a devil fruit userAlso again as i said in the spoiler thread
Rayleigh must have known about rodgers kid
and if not it could have been kuma who told Rayleigh that they were goign to execute the pirate kings sonif this is the case
no way will rayleigh wait by and what his best friends son die
i bet after the 3 days it took him to coat luffys ship he decided to get ready to help whitebeard break in and save ace
Wb should be able to take an admiral
silver can take kizaru
Then maybe shanks fights Mihawk or an admiralShichbukai think are there to help get rid of fodder numbers of pirates atack thus making it a fight between main fighters
but nethermind ending fights
rayliegh going to marine ford which isn't impossible from SA to arrive before luffy woudl mean the crew follow rayleigh to MHQ and one by one they bump into luffy on his travel as 1 by 1 luffy looses all his current prison break members (crew will start arriving when luffy's alone Probably surrounded by too many marines holding him upthats my theory on how this mhq arc will play out

I really want that Rayleigh shows up… I want to know what happened after SI and the fight with KiZaru. Did they just walk away and said... Hey Rayleigh let us fight another time.

Hmmm I wonder how Oda will evade this one if asked on the SBS… XD
anyways.... a reply on Sengoku leaving mariejoa defenseless theory..... There is still a last line of defense there.... THE GOROUSEI and some unknown special guards.... they should have learned to hire strong guards from the previous attack by Fisher Tiger....... XD

I can see luffy's ship coming out from the fogs and the marines would be like here comes whitebeard!!!?????

No, the shark jumping came a couple chapters ago. WIth Jimbei.
Also, I'm getting REALLY tired (after just three days) of people complaining abotu 20 months of pregnancy. In a series as much about devotion and strength of will and sacrifice for loved ones as this one, where a guy being really angry can knock out a crowd of fodder, its NOT that big a deal.
Will is a strong strong force in this series. Especially the Will of D.

There was a record of a woman who had a baby in her belly for 17 months
