One Piece being a child comic..

That is that i think the story would have been better off if it were targeted at a older audience. "the main characters being less overpowered ,if they together had beaten 200 marines in enies lobby and with more trouble that part would have made more sense. Becase as it is the cp9 with their 8 persons gave the strawhats 10 times the trouble 2000 marines did. Makes you wonder why the world government didn't send the 10 000 marines out in the blues fighting weak pirates, that way they could do "something" at least. istead of just delaying untill the main battle force arrived

Also the deaths of good characters, the straw hats not killing their enemies is part of their believes. so thats fine. but travelling in the "pirate graveyard" without even loosing one friend, makes you wonder how in the world it got that name. Also the deaths of nameless characters makes it a bazillion times worse. If nobody died, i would accept it somewhat, but what i hate the most in modern media is how they can kill off hundreds of people like it doesn't matter but still everybody important get's close to death at the most.Like they are trying to give people the idea that they should only care about the ones they know(I mean, what other purpose does those other deaths fulfill?)
in order, i would at most like the nameless deaths to end.
then i would like some sad death of a friend to the straw hats occur.
and actuality, i like the fact that their enemies don't die."
this would especially make sense as Luffy was presented with stating how he was unafraid to die, in the real world that would have been admirable, but in One Piece, I'm more confused about what Coby really is afraid of.

Other then that, i would just like to see some more ship battles in a pirate manga :getlost:

but i really like the puns thou. especially the repetitive ones, like brooks.

Some kind of story telling, as that is the thing i got most skill in. However i have two problems.
the small one is that i can't choose medium: comics, movies, books, games..
The big one is that i lack patience, big time.
I seriously doubt, that i will become something i wan't to because i lack the patience to become something i want to.

Also, saying your dream is to move to japan, why?

I disagree. By chapter 100 he's already got friends, when a major plot point was him having no friends and being bullied. He's already strong, and has to think about why he is continuing boxing, having done what he originally set out to do. He has to deal with having not been able to fight Miyata in the rookies tournament.

I think that's quite a bit of progression from Ippo in chapter one.

Oh, i see your point. Ippo is about character development, i guess when you say it like that it does make more sense. But i feel like that just isn't enough.
as being bullied and having no friends, is a pretty weak story IMO. But that might be because ALL youth films made here in Sweden is pretty much about that, so i am really tired of that.
With that reasoning dragon ball as well have good progression. started out as a small kid that didn't have a care in the world, and ended as a caring, responsible three child father.

The thing with One piece is that it moves, resolutely against the goal set out in the absolute first chapter (with exception of the current arc, but imo it's ok if the continue to move on in the next arc). The problem with most manga is that they do not know when to stop. Ippo would have been a absolutely Great if it was 50 chapters or less.
Naruto as well would have been good if it F***ing ended.
So far i just hope One piece will end when the time comes, that would make it great, and i pretty much have understood that that is Odas intention (He himself thought it would have ended by now)

Already read the first 100, it just seems like, new tournament new opponent(s), new tournament new opponent. even thou the actual fights is more interesting then most other mangas (as they involve real world tactics) the story feel very weak. I'm really suprised that you used Hajime no Ippo as a example, i would have used it as a extreme example of a manga that lacks a sense of progress the most. so i must ask you to expand?

Also, History's Strongest Disciple Kenichi. I swear the sense of progress is almost exactly identical to One Piece except with the pacing a tad faster with plot points happening more drastically rather than there being build-up to it.

haven't read Strongest Didciple Kenichi cuz i really dislike the art style. However if what you say is true, i would like to give it a try. but as you agreed with Darkstorm about Ippo, I'm a tad doubtful.

ok, i haven't read all of these, but i voted One Piece because of ONE reason, and one reason alone.
Sense of progress. One piece is the only manga that survives weekly in my book.
When i read a new manga from the beginning they can become as engaging as One Piece. but when i catch up, i get tired of them in less then a month (Always in less then a month except Op) however, i have been reading One piece is up in 2 and a half year, and i still care about it. it's because they have advanced since last time. when i got to the last published One Piece they were in the middle of the first arc and had just gotten a brand new ship, now they have reached the middle of the grand line, (halfway trough) the ship is beginning to get old. In dragon ball however, the difference is that during the sayian arc goku had 8000-9000 in power level, and in the Freeza arc he had about a million.
In Naruto, the quest was to become hokage, and now the town is annihilated and naruto pretty much proved he is the strongest in the village. and then some other guy became hokage and there is some moral issues with sasuke.. and akatsuki is planning somethi… JUST BEAT UP THE OLD MAN AND BECOME HOKAGE BY FORCE. (Just some louzy shonen example but if someone find a 300+ chapter manga with the same sense of progress as Op, please tell me)

so…... so much tension.... must have next...
