yeah, she's really where most of my confidence lies, for most of the reasons that you listed, the quote about luffy returning with his nakama specifically. Even if she doesn't join, once luffy and co. return to Amazon Lily I'm sure everybody will jump on the bandwagon.

Hm, yeah, now that I think about it, it is fairly possible that the group does go back to Amazon Lily by the end of this story arc. Hancock still needs to have some closure, there were plenty of details that needed fleshing out, and hey, Sanji should deserve a break after all the crap he's been put through. Everyone (by that I mean the Straw Hats, Duval, Rayleigh, etc. could have their massive ''we just kicked major ass'' afterparty there. It's kind of tough, but it could work out.

Yeah, Marguerite is still really the only recently introduced character I could see as a Straw Hat. He could finally have someone who knows about Ambition, the snake could provide some great comedy moments with Chopper, considering he's about as bit as things snakes liek to eat, and she has, personality-wise, a decent mix of the more-down-to-earth nature and off-the-wall humor that One Piece is known for.

The problem I have with Margaret is that she isn't special enough. So far, when a new nakama has appeared, they're the best at that time. Zoro was the most well known swordsman in East Blue. Nami claimed to be the best navigator, and Arlong claimed she was the best at making maps. Usopp is pointless to discuss due to his lying personality, but he was obviously a great shot from day 1. I could go on, but my point should be made by now.

He was amazed of Sanji and didn't want another cook and didn't ask anyone on the Baratie.

He only wanted Nami and not some other Navigator.

Chopper was a fully trained doctor from the country of Drum. The old guy in Arabasta acknowledged that Drum is known for their great doctors. The monster trio is not a trio long ago. Oda is constantly making clear now it's only a duo. It's Luffy and Zoro. Sad, but he is not treating Sanji as the third powerhouse for years already.

Jinbei is almost at the top of the world. Along with Yonkou and the Marine, there are the Shichibukai. Jinbei will lose his place in the group, but he is still Shichibukai level... how a fully developed fighter will be able to join a group that is just starting to mature (more: exactly in the moment of the story they realized they need to grow a lot yet. I.e. when their current level is at the center of the stage)?

Well... but this is still OP and Oda. You never know, maybe he joins. If he does, Oda will have to out do himself in order to manage Jinbei in that group for at least 10 years (or make Jinbei get considerably weaker and start to regain his powers little by little over time...).
Not to mention I simply can't imagine his personality fitting the excentric Straw Hats. He looks… too "normal" compared to them.

About Margaret... again? I thought this idea died already. She was left behind and Luffy showed as much interest in her as... Conis (equal zero).

My favorite for joining the crew, for years already, was Buggy. I got pretty excited when he came back... but seeing how much Oda is making he sound like Usopp it's kinda impossible to have both in the same group.
And his newfound partnership with Mr.3 kinda settles it... sadly :/

Mr.2... it could really be, but I don't know. At first surely looked like Oda was trying to make Bentham a 'SH material'... but it looks like he completely lost his interest now. It's like he simply made Bentham shine soon so he could work the other characters.
I believe it is more likely he will join the revolutionaries together with Iva-san.

The other ones in the team I don't even consider the posibilities (Inazuma could have some if Oda decides to develop him... unlikely, though :/)

That doesn't make him good, the only time he's used his doctor skills he sucked and freaked out. All he does is put casts on people, dude that must have taken him an hour to perfect. He may be a good doctor but he's never done anything to prove it except in G8 filler.

His teacher saved Nami from a disease that hadn't been seen in a hundred years which would have killed her. That's incredible skill, and Chopper showed that he had obtained it by correctly identifying the disease. The Drum arc used Kureha to show the skill of the Drum doctors.

Chopper was very special. The only apprentice doctor of the country that was famous for doctors (the last of the great doctors, so to speak). The only Zoan type we know of who can achieve more than 3 forms. On top of everything else, the ability to talk to animals.

Maybe not loose threads per say, but things that could definitely use some fleshing out or finality, since I get the feeling that Oda speed-blasted through Amazon Lily so that he could get Luffy on his way to Impel Down ASAP. Hancock's story could use some closure, the Amazons' use of Ambition could be expanded on and clarified, etc. I dunno, the ending of that arc just left a really sour taste in my mouth. I still think that it is utterly retarded that Marguerite is apparently perfectly fine with the fact that her idols just tried to KILL her just for the hell of it!!!

My argument, from the beginning, has not been that her joining is set in stone or anything like that. It's been that I feel that she is far more plausible and can work far better with the crew than any of the other names that people have been throwing around with reckless abandon, and that I would certainly not mind it if she did wind up joining.

I too didn't care for how AL arc got wrapped up. Thing is I can see Oda do some really cool amazing writing to bring her back in to the story and make her join or simply make her the next Vivi as in the next accomplishment the SHs make she'll be shown with Nyon reading the paper commenting on his latest "criminal act"

that's stupid to say they just called them that at thriller bark yes it's true zoro and luffy do shine more times then he does but to say this is going to far at least give some clear cut bevidence…. and again it was stated just a year ago (or two) that they were the monster trio by there nakama in thriller bark

Plus, to be fair, Sanji didn't have much chance to shine at Thriller Bark and Sabaody was a curbstomp. Blame Absalom if you think Sanji's weaker than the other two, but Sanji did deflect a bazooka from Oz. His strength just seems to be developing more subtley.

I'd say Sanji's definite the third of the monster trio, but I get what you're saying. He may be weaker than Luffy/Zoro, but he's still on their tier and he uses his head a lot more (Mr. Prince, closing the gates of justice, that kind of thing). Luffy charges recklessly and to a lesser extent so does Zoro.
I'm guessing we've yet to even see the next nakama. Other than Nami and Robin (who are exceptions to other intitial joining rules), everyone so far has been a big character in their arc that seemed to stick out more than other characters (exception being Franky until Enies Lobby, then it got a bit more obvious). I just don't see there being any recruiting going on right away. There've been arcs w/o crewmates joining before, so I've been at a loss as to why every new character has to be the next nakama around here. I am not saying he is weaker than Zoro, I am saying Oda doesn't depicts him as part of the "Trio" anymore.

It's offtopic, so:

! Everytime he puts Luffy and Zoro into the scene he always make clear how damn strong they are and they are usually put side-to-side.
The same is not done with Sanji. Although he probably is at their level, Oda simply doesn't enphasyzes on his strength as he does with the other two. We know he is strong 'cause we know it, not because Oda hypes him every time as with Zoro and Luffy (he is also not seeing in scenes with Luffy and Zoro alone as a trio. You can see him with Zoro or the whole group, not the trio… Oda is not trying to make them look like one).
! While Luffy and Zoro get serious and put a face of the stronger guys in the place, Sanji at best is shown as the smart guy if not as pure comic relief. He never gets the second strongest enemy - that's only for Zoro -, just the third or some comic character (Absalom?) or nothing at all (Upper Yard?).
! Oda sees Sanji is Mr. Prince: the guy who will outsmart you and kick your ass whithout getting a speckle of dirt on his clothes.
Luffy and Zoro not. Oda treat them as pure monsters. They never pass an arc without engaging into major kickass fights that will push them over their limits or something like that. You just need to read the chapters, look at the images and you will see Oda puts them under a clompletely different light.
! I mean, damn, who are among the Supernova? The three of them? No! It's just Luffy and Zoro. In everyway, Zoro is always there, as his right-arm man. But Sanji is never depicted as the third part of this group, as a left-arm (if Oda places someone here, it is Usopp... yeah, not a monster at all).
! It's not a matter of Sanji being as strong as them ('cause I think he is), what I am saying is that Oda doesn't see them as a trio. There is no "Monster Trio" except for us fans, so let's not think Oda will write the story takin the "Trio" into account. It's a "Monster Duo"... even though there is a third monster in the group

EDIT: but i know what you mean with Luffy and zoro but not sanji getting bounties after the arabasta arc or only them to going into jaya ready for a fight the whole sea train thing and both of them being willing to beat the shit out of charlos or sanji not being a super nova who knows he may not get haki well the other two do but the point is he's still monster trio material

You ignored the part about Chopper correctly identifying a disease that's been extinct for 100 years, showing that he had obtained Kureha's knowledge. And of course he was an apprentice, but afterwards it would be more accurate to say that he had finished his apprenticeship.

yes she is, she's still one of the few warriors of amazon lily. except most of amazon lily aren't warriors and she is, plus she is one of the only 3 able to speak out against Boa.

Lol, I don't know how I got so sidetracked by this Margarite talk. I've been completely sold on Jinbei as the next nakama since he appeared in Ace's cell, and I only feel better about it every week. They need a fishman and I can't imagine them getting someone less awesome. Luffy doesn't roll that way.
