I will never cease to be amazed at how a show that runs without pause all year long can have a year and a half of nothing but filler and at least an arc of filler inbetween every few volumes yet still drags on so ridiculously through every episode.
Its because one manga chapter is worth about 7 minutes of air time. Even with opening and closing credits, it takes at least 2 weeks worth of chapters to fill an episode, sometimes 3, especially in action heavy chapters with little dialouge. (A chapter of Bleach is worth like 3 mnutes of screen time at this point)
So any given episode that has no filler at all is eating up 3 weeks of material. Add in the fact that the author takes a week off every two or three months and it adds up quick.
One month of filler free weekly animations can eat almost 4 months worth of manga. When a series has a 3 or 4 year head start they don't bother padding animations, but when you're only 6 weeks behind … its perfectly logical that the animation catches up, and fast, in any series.
(The naruto animation before the year of filler really was only a couple weeks behind back at the end of part 1. The Naruto and Sasuke fight was animated almost immediatley, like 3 weeks after the manga chapter came out, it was scary.)
To counterbalance all of this, instead of doing 2 or 3 chapters of manga per episode... they do one chapter per episode... and pad it out by 14 minutes. which is of course, harder in the midst of a 10 chapter fight, so you get lots of angry stares and swirling dust.

Surprised to say but this was a neat chapter. Naruto actually used his brain, both in using the Chakra Rod to finally find Nagato and the Shadow Shuriken tactic to seemingly finally defeat Pain. (though I didn't like the whole "you have two chances, I'll give them to you and you win if you hit" bit) I just wonder now what is meant by "a surprise ending".

A lot of people have said this, but I have to ask…does it really matter?
This Pein only has one move it can use now, so it's not like there's anything he could have done to stop it. What's lame about this chapter is that, the way Pein was at the end, his defeat was inevitable. The fox wore him out.

Pain was just really stupid this chapter. First he comments on how amazed he is by Naruto strength, how he was able to control the Nine Tails power and is now in Sage Mode. Then he talks about he just has to dodge two FRS and then he wins. So instead of staying back and waiting for Naruto to get out of SM, Pain bumbrushs him for some dumbass reason using his chakra rod which is exactly what Naruto needed for Pain to do to conviently tell Naruto Nagato's location a few panels later. Knowing that Naruto can do Shadow clone attacks since he used a similar attack a few chapters back. He Shinra Tensei's the first FRS instead of dodging and saving it up for the 2nd one. The fact that Naruto used a smoke bomb should've told Pain that Naruto was up to something.

I think Pain was a little off guard since Nagato there is hacking up blood and everything else. Dude's not gonna last much longer unless either Naruto kills Deva Pain, or he just cuts his connection to it (Or Shikamaru or Inoichi does). Either way, dude's pretty much on his last legs.

Whatever the case may be, the sooner Pain gets beat, the better. He's had his time. He's made his impact (for better or for worse).

Wow, I've found this fight pretty boring since the first two chapters or so but Naruto finally uses his head and I enjoyed it. Seems Kishi has been getting a little better lately, like 1 of 5 chapters are actually pretty good out of the last 30 or 40. He starts getting that ratio up a bit and Naruto might stop being a total joke and regain a little bit of that Part I magic.

Don't the authors find that incredibly awkward? I mean when has it ever been cool for the lackeys to outlive the masters, what kind of threat would Kisame or Konan possess for someone like Naruto to be afraid of them? Honestly at this point, I don't think Naruto could lose to anyone but Madara..

My guess is that when Madara finally begins his final plan, he'll send them out and they'll fight for him due to their loyalty. (Kisame: his Mizukage, Zetsu: pretty much the closest to Madara himself) Kishi really doesn't like throwing away villains and potential fights unless he likes to screw with people.

I think he does like screwing with ppl.. when naruto was just a crap and the only thing that made fans wait for the new chapters, was just to see how naruto looks with more tails. Then he let us know about the true story behind itachi which rly made naruto look cool again.. and at the time naruto was at it's best with the new naruto being less retard and more powerful(justified powerful) he ruined everything again with the battle from great being more and more lame..

He won't. Naruto will start to turn him "good" as usual but Madara will kill him just after by snapping his fingers. It's the typical Kishi-hyping.

Pain deflects them all, and kills every one of them except two. Pain tells Naruto to give up. Naruto fires up another FRS. Pain thinks he's safe at his range. Naruto tells Pain that he's given up… on giving up. And then some shit about a successful attack with KB and Rasengan.

It really is sad when fanart is better than the majority of a manga. That goes for fanfic, too. I enjoy Naruto fanfic more than I do the actual manga nowadays. At least fanfic concentrates on the side characters.
