Sage mode is pretty awesome. I used to hope he'd learn to control the Kiyuubi better and use it's powers more but sage mode is much better. If he loses the Kiyuubi(and lives somehow), he could still be insanely strong with the sage mode. I'm really looking forward to the next chapter. I'm thinking Heavenly realm Pain will probably be even with Naruto or will be stronger. I just don't see Naruto defeating him in the next few chapters. I do however see possibly Konan, Zetsu, Kisame, Sasuke and Hawk, or even Madara showing up to let Pain get away and get new bodies.

I was kinda hoping pein would be dead afta 3 or 4 chapters! this storyline is boring me at the moment! The only good thing about it imo is that the longer it goes on the less we see of sasuke!

I have a prediction on what's gonna happen next:
Naruto will continue fighting Pain and will get to a point where his sage-clones run out. Then, Pain seems to get control and is sure to win the fight. But onceagain, Naruto surprises everybody as he has learned to gather natural energy while moving, and in the end he'll win the fight.
Anybody doubt me?

Even with all this, Naruto has, what, 6 ninjustu techniques, no genjutsu, and substitutes chakra enhanced brute strenght for taijutsu.

Genjutsu is a one-trick pony and is the most limited of the three branches of chakra manipulation. It's also the lamest, since it consists of nothing but illusions and people have to break out of it in the same way.
Taijutsu is a fancy word for martial arts, and I don't really see much of a difference between Lee "opening the gates" and a DBZ-like power up. If his punches connect and do damage, he doesn't need something elaborate like a Hokuto Hyakuretsuken.

Most powerups in DBZ didn't result in the user's muscles tearing themselves apart or have the potential to lead to the user's death like the Gates did.
I've often wondered about that myself; seems like being supported by people who only want you there so the world can end in fire (with you going to Hell in the process) would be somewhat off-putting

Er, first of all, Genjutsu can KILL you. Look what Tsukuhime did to Kakashi.
Well, actually that is an exception. Most genjutsu are really lame. Kishimoto could have done much more with it. For example, turning someone into a vegetable, meaning they lose their ability for cognition.As for Taijutsu, yeah it is martial arts. But Naruto doesn't have much skill in it. I mean, all the taijutsu specialists have special techniques. Naruto only has basic punches and kicks.
Also, although Naruto knows only a few Ninjutsu, most of them are A-class or above, except henge/transformation.

I just remembered, didn't Naruto have a "that Jutsu" which Jiraya mentioned him not being allowed to use way back at the start of part 2? Did we ever see that, or was it just the revolutionary Oodama rasengan?

"That Jutsu" was the Nine Tails Release, and he hasn't used it since he tore the nutsack out of Orochimaru with it. With Kakashi/Tsunade, it was the Rasengan Shuriken, and it's pretty obvious there.
Once Hungry Ghost is down, I'd still like to see Naruto use "Ultimate Rasengan", the move Jiraiya did that was just eaten by HG Pain. (It reminds me of Vegeta's Final Flash Attack; you know, the attack he did once against Cell and didn't work, but was really flashy).Of course, he has the Shuriken Rasengan, but that one seems like something he'd use, too.
I called it wrong, so long ago. I guess this needs to be changed.

Yeah, that would be cool. Naruto told Granny to sit back and watch, and he annouced to "settle it once and for all", so I doubt the fight will end without a winner. And Naruto won't loose, that's for sure.
But the fight with Pain brings on thought to my mind:

) or Pain is stronger. If Pain is stronger, Naruto would already now pwn Sasuke. Not what I expect, 'cause I think this will be the final fight and it would be lame, if they would fight at quite the same level.

Naruto already did a variation of the ultimate Rasengan when he attacked the summoms with the two giant sage Rasengans. Rasengans are weaksauce nowadays anyway. Even the Konohomaru bushin can do them. Naruto big move this fight will probably something innovative and original like a oodama flying Rasenshuriken. Bigger is always better in Kishi's point of view along with spammimg Rasenshurikens.
As for "that jutsu" aka 4+ tails releases kishi is probably saving that until "the key" training starts

Don't bother trying to fathom it right now. Tiers have been off since Konohamaru succeeded in KOing an opponent Kakashi died against.
And ignoring everything leading up to it, this last chapter was actually pretty dang good. Naruto managed to use his bag of two tricks in a way that was fun, interesting and new multiple times. For once, Rasengan and Clones didn't seem like same ol', same ol'. What's more, no sign of Sasuke for what, 20 chapters or so now? This is pretty good.
Now the fact that the village idiot is owning the God of Destruction is still odd, but whatever. At least he's doing it in a cool new manner.
…I just know Kishi's setting us up for something dumb. Lulling us into a false sense of security or something.

Pain then blows all the frogs away.
Another Pain then comes behind Naruto and holds him.

Chapter ends with God Realm saying Kyubbi has been captured - Mission Accomplished.

5. The non killed (Just blasted backwards) frogs summon the last sage naruto and the fight remommences.
