It'll be a tough 2 weeks. Well, it'll be 12 days until spoilers hit. 10 days until that week arrives. Plus there's Christmas next week so it'll go by fast. I guess the wait won't be so hard.

I'm 95% sure they won't. WSJ comes out on Mondays in Japan and the next issue comes out on January 5th. We'll get spoilers and the chapter the week before(December 29-January 2).

luffy and buggy will probably release a bunch of prisoners on level 1 and then head to level 2-4 and release a bunch of prisoners along the way and create a huge ruckus. if level 5 is where many 100+ million bounty pirates are held then there definitely should be some of the supernovas there and it would be cool to see them fighting down there as well. man imagine an armada of luffy, buggy, jimbei, crocodile, supernovas and other high profile prisoners being held at impel down. the only one that would be able to take them down would have to be an admiral but since they are busy preparing for whitebeard i doubt one will come. wonder if there are any pirates from rogers crew, it would be nice to see buggy reunite with some of them.
i do wonder why jimbei chose to be held at impel down. i think he is also up to something. maybe he is planning on freeing all the fishmen being held at impel down and chose to be imprisoned?

Jinbei didn't "choose" to be taken prisoner. He was sent and locked up in Impel Down due to causing a rampage after declaring he wouldn't participate in the war. It was mentioned less than five chapters ago.
I get the feeling most of you instinctively forget information given during past chapters as soon as a new comes out…

has anyone else noticed that Luffy and Buggy's weakness and what there invulnerable to are exactly opposite. Luffy can't be hurt by brute force or blunt objects but that's one of the only ways to hurt buggy but buggy can't be hurt by sharp objects but Luffy can… just found it a little interesting.
Oh yeah one of my friends is trying to convince me that buggy will join the crew who else thinks that's ridiculous.

Wow such an amazing observation, this totally makes me look at OP a different way! Oda must be very smart
SMFH @ the 2nd part, no sarcasm needed…...........

People here will always latch on to characters who enter or re-enter the spotlight as potential new members, regardless of whether they are plausible or not.
-
I have three interpretations for the panel:
-
Hancock is recalling previous times Luffy called her Hanmock (my original interpretation.)
-
Hancock misheard what Luffy said. Which now that I've thourougly analyzed the panels makes more sense.
-
Luffy mispronounced Hanmock. Also entirely possible.
In the end there is no clear answer and all interpretations are valid.
Honestly, no matter how hard I try, I can't seem to understand your thoeries 2 and 3…:wassat:
For me it's obvious that it's option one:
Luffy calls her "Hancock", she is overhelmed,
the two "Hamcock" bubbles symbolize that she reminisces about the time he didn't even bother to pronounce her name right.
Now she is in seventh heaven because to her it seems that by remembering her name she has become special to him
(just like the typical schoolgirl craves for her lovers attention)
it's more of a flashback than a daydream -

(She's just so out of it that she does not realize that Luffy is talking as evidenced by Hancock's fantasizing in the next panel.) Is that what a flashback bubble looks like?
edit: Confirmed that it is a flashback speech bubble. (Using Brook's flashback.) (This would all have been avoided if people used correct terminology daydream != flashback. She is clearly having a flashback and it is what most people would see it as.)

Hasn't it been the case for the past few years that it leaked early? Then there was 3 weeks till the next normal issue. It might've been around this time or it could've been another point in the year where there's two back to back double issues.

I wonder the same thing at times…..I like your sig Zatch Bell FTW!!!!!!!!1
-
Well the key thing about Luffy and Buggy meeting up is that they are not fighting each other now.
How will Buggy take the fact that Luffy is here for Ace his big brother … that will be interesting to see. Will he help out to get Ace out to get some good points with Whitebeard ?
Luffy is going down Buggy wants to go up and out, will he go his own way first chance he gets ?
Unless they get seastone cuffs on them as a combination Buggy and Luffy pair up well, Luffy is immune to impacts but vulnerable to slashes, Buggy the opposite.
-
Don't know if anyone has ask this before, but I wonder if Garp is still around?
If he is, will he encounter Luffy?
If he did, then there can be only 3 possibilities :
1.Luffy beat the crap out of him
2.Garp going AWOL (or at least help Luffy in some way)
3.Luffy can escape from Garp without any confrontation (which I think is most unlikely).
Anyway, what ever hapenned, I think after this incident, the Monkey family will be world famous….or screwed.Oh, and in Lv.5 there should be Jinbei and Croc too isn't it? I wonder what role will they play in this arc.

People were saying this in chapter 20…:getlost:

don't you think it's weird that jimbei rampaged instead of just choosing to not go? he could of just done what hancock did originally and just declined. jimbei probably knows what going up against whitebeard means so he could of chosen to be sent to impel down and do something he has planned. lets say jimbei thinks the marines will be wiped out then he may of chosen to go impel down and save all the fishmen there and take them to fishman island because thinks things might get chaotic in the world with the marines gone.
btw do any of you think that crocodile may of been a rookie on rogers ship? i've always thought this guy during buggy's flashback looked a lot like crocodile and he even has those two long hairs hanging down like the one in the flashback.
young crocodile?
old crocodile
the young croc pic always stood out to me. why would oda go out of the way to show this guy in his very own panel? would be nice to see a buggy/crocodile reunion if croc was indeed in rogers crew. that may be the only reason why crocodile joins this fight. after all he could of escaped when he was freed by baroque works but chose to go to jail instead. if buggy was his ex crew member then he may be the only that motivates him to fight.

I think Jinbei goes berserk on Mariejoa had something to do with fishman slaves, and so happens in the same time he was ask to stood up for the WG, so then he goes like.."WTF!!You turn my people into slaves, and now you're asking for my help?!??!"

Nice, but I don't think so, no offense man.

Not really; considering we know nothing about Jinbei and that might be within character for him.
Also, Hancock never declined when initially summoned to Marine HQ. That's the whole reason Momonga had to go see Hancock in the first place, to figure out why she didn't show up even though she agreed. Hancock herself even says she lied about saying she'd go, hence the ultimatum given to her right afterwards by Momonga, show up or have her position as a Shichibukai revoked. So your little comparison has no merit unfortunately.
Jinbei on the other hand, outright refused and caused trouble for them. As for why he did the latter, who knows; maybe that's the kind of guy he is. I mean when we saw Sengoku it was mentioned that Jinbei was more than willing to risk losing his status as a Shichibukai. So the Marines stuck him in Impel Down in hopes that he'll reconsider while not risking Jinbei simply running off.
-
He looked a little like Sliver Rayliegh, though i know its not possible. Now i'm really interested to see how Luffy saves Ace and wonder if there will be an encounter between Luffy and Garp.

you don't become a schichibukai by being a nice peaceful guy.

You make it sound like Hancock would've refused, the marines would've stripped her of her title and that'd be it. What woudl've happened if she just said no was she'd be stripped of her title and taken to Impel Down until she changed her mind or rot their forever just like Jinbei now. Although for Hancock's situation she'd have it a little easier since she'd only have to face Momonga. Jinbei just took it the extra mile and probably continued to attack all marines that came in his path, hence, the rampaging.
Either way though you decline this request, expect to fight the marines as an ex-shihci and become any other wanted pirate…
-
The name mazelan is odd.. oda usually names certain character with historical backround, so I think the real spelling should be Magellan ( I think this is right..). Seeing he's the top dog of the area, I'm expecting a DF user and a confrontation with luffy.

For gods sake it isn't an eyepatch

hmmm I think it's a shaded monocle….however it doesn't look like an eyepatch now that you mention it....her long her over the right her makes it hard to tell maybe she flicks or something later on....domino for crew member!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm 95% sure they won't. WSJ comes out on Mondays in Japan and the next issue comes out on January 5th. We'll get spoilers and the chapter the week before(December 29-January 2).
I mentioned this already a couple of times in the spoiler thread, but we have had multiple occasions over the last couple years where the second double issue will leak a week early. The reason being is because the chapter will still be submitted early because the Chinese version of Shonen Jump for some reason does not mimic the schedule of the Japanese one during the holidays. They have the double issue come out 1 week before the Japanese get it and because of how we normally get RAWs, the Japanese Raw isn't too far behind that release. We could very likely get spoilers next week but once that happens we will have 2-3 weeks of absolutely no One Piece because of that leak. No matter how you look at it. 2 of the next 3 usual release weeks will have a break, whether it comes all at once or separated.
-
I think the chief warden is the strange lion like creature we got a glimpse of in chapter 525. Because of all the mythological characters we're seeing lately, I think he's a sphinx
-
@Zik:
You make it sound like Hancock would've refused, the marines would've stripped her
^^
lol. Of all serious, decent chapter, but I liked some of the previous ones more.

Check out the pictures below..guess we know who models for domino…right down to the emblem.

The unreal lips of Angelina Jolie make it look like she is cosplaying her fav Impel Down vize vize commander.

On a different matter. What's with Luffy being able to read thought's lately? Last chapter there was the bit between him and Hancock communicating this way and now he even understood what the prisoners were thinking. Not to mention that Hancock misunderstood Luffy's thought which means she'd heard it too. I'm sorry to come on that route back, but could this be an Ambition skill she trained him in during those four days?
-
Is it Mazellan or Magellan? Aohige used Magellan in his trans in the spoilers section. Also, Luffy told Buggy that it is Hancock who told him not to make any ruckus (in Aohige's trans), but the scanlation i read rom onemanga didn't mention her name.

Considering that it is Aohige we're talking about here I'd say it's safe game to go with Magellan. In situations like this, when a speed scanslation is out it's always safe game to doubt a little bit of what is said there. This is not being meant disrespectful to the scanslators but when you do speedy scanslations/translations here and there you'd find some mistakes. Just look at the fifth panel here. It's obvious that the one bubble should only say "Level 5?" instead of "Luffy: Level 5?". The scanslators simply accidentally copied the entire text from their scripts here. Mistakes happen. Not a biggie.

Ah, thanks for the explanation! I just felt really dumb for not understanding what you were referring to! X)

You see something that I would have never came up with myself…people were speculating something similar one chap ago (where Luffy and Hancock were able to communicate without Momonga noticing it) But I thought that they were whispering, and this time I think it was whispering aswell...I thought the misinterpretation is caused by Hancock reading Luffy's lips (and failing hard to our amusement) could it really be Haki? if yes I absolutely didn't see it coming...Guess we have to wait for the next chapters (or the Anime version XD) to clear this up.

Whispering pretty much makes sense too. It's just that Luffy and Hancock spend four days together in that one cabin. And since Luffy is not the guy to do what every other guy would do with Hancock he somehow must have passed the time. I mean I doubt he was just eating the entire time. And since he was undercover it's not like he could spend time doing stupid things (which for Luffy always tend to be very noisy). And since many people think that this Amazon Lily trip was a power up trip for him to learn Ambition this would be the perfect opportunity to get a bit familiar with it. Considering everything that happened Hancock would definitely try to help him out understand it a bit if she chould. But still, it might be nothing else but whispering. I just felt I should mention it.

How about Luffy revealing to Buggy that it is Hancock who told him not to create any ruckus. The guys in the spoiler thread were "terrified" by this since ID has many den den mushis covering the whole prison. Luffy saying that would make the authorities know that Hancock is to blame for this. The scanlation from onemanga doesn't contain it.
-
oh man I hate those non-huma-supa-strong-creature-guards…
Can anyone tell me what these things ARE?Is this skull their head or just an ordinary cape?Do they wear gloves or are they some kind of cyborgs with ugly fingers?....
geez... -

Well here the thing depends on whether he was translating a script or really a raw page. Because if I get it right the scripts usually only have a good comprehension of what happens in the actual chapter but aren't necessarily 100% like a raw chapter.
Alternatively, if you have a good raw shot of said panel I could check it myself. I don't speak Japanese but I'm able to decipher the Katakana for Hancock. But I'd need something better then the raw we had so far. =/

geez...Why the hate? Just sit back and wait until it gets explained. Isn't this unknown component something that makes the charm of One Piece?
-
Seeing Buggy again was deep, hopefull hes got alot stronger than the last time we saw him fight, not that he was weak then, but hopefully now hell be able to make it in the New World.
Though he has survived up to now in the grandline without seemingly much trouble, so it is very likely he has improved. Plus at the end of the chapter, he did knock out a blue glory which can take out sea kings.Didnt see him knock out anything, for all we know both of their attacks could have had zero affect what so ever, one of the cliff hangers for the next chapter…

Nah i just don't like those non-human-beeings in OP.They make the series appear like some freakshow and destroy all "logic"(i know it sounds kinda funny when you talk about a Manga and refere to "logic".)Don't you think so?

True that we didn't see them knock out anything but the zero affect is a definite no-no seeing that those guards move acordingly to the hits they took. The cliffhanger might aswell have worked without showing the two punch anything.
Isn't the freakshow a concept that pretty much makes the OP-verse? From the top of my head guys like Gaimon, Bon Kurei, Hachi, Gedatsu, Franky and Brook pop into my head.
Edit: Btw, just noticed that this chapter had 21 pages. WHOOHOOO!!!
-
This chapter was worth the wait! X3
Especially cause of the predicted Luffy and Buggy "team up".
and LOL at Hancock misreading Luffy's mouth movements XD -

I see your point. But those you metioned are all based on human beeings, right?I mean some of them are just a bit special…and they all belong to the human "race".
-
Yeah its totally diffrent feeling, having 21 chapters makes it just the right length while with 19 I sometimes get the feeling too short…the 17 ones are definitely too short
Well thats the feeling I get anyway
-

No, Hachi doesn't belong to the human race. None of the fishmen does. And neither do giants or whatever we might be seeing in the future. What do you think about them?
-

Oh you were talking about fishman and giants, sry.I really can't remember all names of the characters in OP^^.
Hmh I kind of "accept" those races, because you know them from other things(movies, books etc.) but I don't like this whole creation thing of a new race which is just important for 3 chapters.I'm sorry but i really can't think of an example(except those blue guard things).
You see.I really like when authors are creative and stuff but there shouldn't be too many of those "creations"…unless you want to end in something like Star Wars lol. -

Have a little faith in Oda here. ;)
-

Wow, really? Personally, I'm the opposite. I feel that when it comes to the fantasy genre an author's imagination should be their only limit. I'm always fascinated by the creatures and races that authors create, especially when they're really well thought out.
What are your thoughts on the dendenmushi? It seems to be some bizarre cross of a snail and several facets of modern technology like phones, walkie-talkies, alarms, and recently security cameras. Do you feel the same way? Or what about or the bizarre Sea Kings? Like the Sea Cat from Alabasta? Or Mohmoo the Sea Cow? Or that chicken sea king from I don't remember?
I'm not trying to pressure you into changing your mind, but it seems odd that you'd dislike these things (whatever they are) when there have been plenty of outlandish creatures in One Piece.

The funny thing is though, just when you think Oda has put something in that doesn't make sense, he'll explain it perfectly later on.
