woah the quality is great
now i cant wait for the subbed version to come out -
Wow, seven and a half minutes of reused footage. No wonder it looked decent. They only had to animate less than 20 minutes of footage.
Some people always find a way to complain:sad:
-
Can anyone give a link with the music from movie 5 that they used in this episode?
-
Whoa, the HD Raw is already up O_O
Holy cheesecrackers! The RAW was uploaded before I even got out of bed? Now there's a new record…
Looks like an awesome episode, though. And like I said earlier, it's great that the ridicculously long battle, filled with no less than 4 "fake endings" (spots where it looks like the battle is over) is finally over.
-
Some people always find a way to complain
Yeah, we shouldn't criticize anything we don't like because it's OP and invincible.
-
Yeah, the Complaints are mostly About things that are actually there.
One Piece is a VERY long Series and budget has to be chosen properly, and they Rarely take long breaks, so they have to be constantly producing episodes at great haste.
Sometimes some scenes don't get the Money/care/attention some others get, and Animation and pacing problems present themselves
People have a right to complain. -

the best hd raw is of Zero-Raws
here there isn't corrupt frames
http://www.anirena.com/viewtracker.php?action=details&id=16429This is most probably just an new torrent for the same raw that's been online for a while now seeing how they both got 414MB. Zero raws aren't recording themselves or anything. They are just picking decent raws.
-
First there where fanboys n girls for Animes, than fanboys/girls for Sub groups and now we have em for Raw distribotors. What up next?

…Fanboys for animators, making sure that every single episode has fluid animation and high quality artwork that rivals Kyoto Animation?

not really it was 7n a half for the opening
so 4 mins of reused footageapart from that
I can easily see that as the greatest episode So far. that was just awesome

Episode was still good.
-
Episode was still good.
Indeed it was. In fact, it was totally awesome. If I were to complain about anything, it would be that it took nearly 10 minutes before anything actually happened… But the remaining 13 minutes were made of win.
-
Damn, the anime made just a little piece of that damage on Zoro look grueling. It made me shudder to think he'd have to take that whole bubble of ownage. But yeah, that ending was executed perfectly. Great amount of blood and crisp animation
-
How that little bit of all that huge damage screwed Zoro's body up was probably the most surprising and shocking scene in this hole episode.
-
Zoro is a REAL guy. His body is torn to shreds, he's probably lost 90% of his blood, and he just stands there saying "I'm fine."
Although, in the next week or two, we will be seeing/hearing Brook's "Wine in Pink" song in full. That should be interesting.

Not what it's called at all… It's "Binks' Wine/Brew/Sake/Whatever". The "Pink"-part was just one of Franky House's many ridicculous errors during that particular part of the series. But yeah, hearing the full version of that should be interesting... But the scene had better be perfect!
-
A few screen cap I took.
Bigger resolution:
!
I'm not complaining but I found a bit of inconsistency in the last 2 pics. In the aerial shot, Zoro's shirt looks intact but when it closes up, his shirt is obviously ruined.
-
not really it was 7n a half for the opening
so 4 mins of reused footageWhile technically you're right I now count the OP as reused footage ever since they changed the length to the point where I could get a cavity drilled and filled and come back to with time to spare. It's pure time-waste extravaganza.
Anyone else notice that you can completely skip Part 1 on YouTube and STILL not be up to new material?
Episode was still good.
The animation was beautiful. The trembling technique they employed were interesting even though it looked like Zoro was having a seizure for part of the episode. However it suffers severely from a case of Ballitis. That is, otherwise intelligent characters who are skilled fighters standing in one place doing literally nothing to defend themselves, merely standing in awe making clicking noises, or in Kuma's case, just standing there.
"But Greg! The animation! What about the animation!!!"
Yes. I know, it looks really, really good. But that's because they wasted a great deal of time with the opening and used a good deal of still scenes. It may look great but at what cost? I'd rather have a consistently passable level of quality under better direction. OP needs to make the LONGEST FILLER CONCEIVED BY MANKIND and get back on its feet because the rate it's progressing at is pathetic. It's taken them how long to get through TB?
TB was basically 1 solid year of manga from start to finish. That's 5 volumes.
Episode-wise it is going to roughly 337-379, that's 42 episodes.
Let's look at what OP was able to accomplish in it's first 42 episodes:
Chapter 1 - Chapter 91-ish.
That's just over 10 volumes or TWO years of comic.
OP is progressing at HALF the speed it was.
This is an unavoidable pitfall of animation, especially one on a schedule like OP is, but for Chrissake, I wish they would bite the bullet, make a FUCKLOAD of filler, and then progress the story at a bearable pace.
I sat down over the summer to watch TB with my dad (thank you Cinder!) as I do each summer when I go back to the States, and we found ourselves skipping through episodes at a time trying to get to canon material. Then when we got there, we were skipping about to find actual progression.
"Then don't watch OP if you're just going to complain Greg!"
Huh? That's not the point. I want to watch OP, I just want to enjoy watching it instead of rolling my eyes and waiting for Usopp to shut his goddamn mouth and do something.
But….none of this will come to pass and so I return to my cave.
God, whoever thought I'd be saying the Naruto animation did something right?
-
I thought this episode was terrible compared to what I've seen in the past ten or so. I thought it was filler considering how long and drawn it was and how they were just repeating themselves. The whole I will do anything for my nakama thing was already belaboured in the last episode. This one just threw it over the top. There were a lot of time wasters and static images with zooming, and I was about to stop the episode after watching the camera zoom into the bear guy's nose for the umpteenth time. I also didn't like the animation nor the excessive use of the BAM! SFX and you see someone's gritty disfigured face show up for about 30 seconds. There were a lot of BAM moments in the last episode but the usage for the 377 ones are just not credible to me. BAM! I'm looking at you. BAM! I'm looking at you in another angle. BAM! I'm looking back at you. BAM! let me stare back for another 30 seconds. This whole episode would fit in a quarter of an episode but they stretched it out so much it became cheezier than hell.
-
OP needs to make the LONGEST FILLER CONCEIVED BY MANKIND and get back on its feet
I agree with this even moreso than I would have about a year ago when I considered Enies Lobby's extra padding to be only a temporary setback. Considering that Thriller Bark has fared little better in terms of pacing and the upcoming manga arc(s) won't have any clear openings for future animated filler arcs to pad out the gap between the anime and manga, this is really a golden opportunity for the animation team to bide their time, at least until there is a light at the end of the current story arc with the crew reunited.
-
God, whoever thought I'd be saying the Naruto animation did something right?
You know most of Shippuuden episodes are still 1:1 even after those two years of filler, right?
In fact they shortened the episodes runtime to 18:30 minutes to cover even less manga material per episode. -
I agree with this even moreso than I would have about a year ago when I considered Enies Lobby's extra padding to be only a temporary setback.
Same feeling. EL has NOTHING on TB. EL's scenes with Zoro and Usopp were painful, but TB has just stretched it to the point of absurdity.
I despise filler.
I loath filler.
But I would bear it just to see continually well-paced and skillfully (instead of tactfully) directed episodes.
You know most of Shippuuden episodes are still 1:1 even after those two years of filler, right?
Oh I have no idea how it works in execution. That's their own bumbling fault if that's where they've found themselves. But I can't help but notice how they're still like what? 2 years+ behind the comic? That's fantastic. I would probably have wet dreams each Saturday night if OP were in that position.

Episode was pretty weak on progressing the story although the animation was really great. Love how Sanji was shaking the entire time he was up and about, you could see how beaten he was.
-
Amazing episode through and through! Also, I have been waiting for next week's episode for the longest time (Finally, Bink's Sake is fully orchestrated!!). It's like Kuma used that bubble technique to reflect portion of awesome from Chuck Norris's body and shoved it into this episode.
-
I understand how you feel Greg. I must say that as a whole, Thriller Bark was a huge letdown for me. It just didn't feel like it was as great as it could have been, especially when comparing it to the manga. Indeed, they would need a filler arc, which they will undoubtedly have after Thriller Bark, which would need to run for a little bit in order to allow more material for the manga to get ahead. They are pretty close to it, and having the anime right on the manga's heels isn't really good at all. Hopefully, future episodes will be more eventful than Thriller Bark was animated because there was a lot of nothing in the arc, and some of the fights were pretty messed up, I felt.
Anyway….
-
Hm, I think part of the problem involves the fact that One Piece had three long arcs, Skypiea, Water 7, and Enies Lobby close together with not much room for filler, so they had to resort to stretching episodes out because they were so close. I mean, I noticed that once Aqua Laguna was coming, Water 7 started to really creep along, and apparently it got to the point where they covering Robin's flashback while the manga had just finished Zoro's fight. That's only around 20 chapters, but most of them were fight chapters that don't take long in animation, so they were forced to stretch things out and add the flashback fillers (also coinciding with the timeslot change) and several Edo fillers.
But anyway, Toei has added some smart filler in Thriller Bark, like Brook finding the salt, the Risky Brothers being shown watching Luffy, and Odz slowly falling under Moria's command, so they can do some things right. But I will agree that early Thriller Bark was a chore to watch.
I hope when Kuma shows up again to cause some brick shitting awesomeness in the near future, that that episode gets the same treatment that this one did, because it sure as hell deserves it.

Yes, this is the crux of the issue with OP as it is with many other series.
Bleach seems to revel in this fact and clearly ignores such boundaries and stretches fights out as long as possible.
Which is fine….BECAUSE IT'S BLEACH! It's supposed to be like that damnit.
Meanwhile, the shit is travelling down the pike fast and furious in Naruto giving it ZILCH breathing room for random filler shit. Say what you will about the Naruto story, but in its current state it's not giving much room for decent or fleshed out side-stories and it needs the leeway it currently has or else it's going to be a huge issue later.
OP has the EXTREME luxury of taking time between islands to do stuff. We get the narrator telling us in bubbles for Chrissake, "A few days later."
A few 'days' in OP is more than enough for Luffy to get everyone's asses in trouble.
They should revel in the opportunity it presents and pull a major filler arc.
And please remember, I'm breathing fire because of how much I LOVE the animated version and want to watch it for as long as possible, not watch it stretched out as long as possible.
-
Just some Naruto manga knowledge for comparison.
The manga is currently 89 chapters ahead of the anime. (It's 95 if you include the 6 unanimared chapters for Kakashi Gaiden)
-
Yeah, my only complaint with this episode was how long it took to get to the new material.
As soon as Zoro used Lion's Song, though, the episode became absolutely EPIC! Seriously happy that they chose this animation for this episode!
And yeah, they really, REALLY need a filler arc now. As much as I like the anime, it is dragging a little too much now. Though I can't wait until the next arc, the space between the two arcs could and should be filled in with whatever the hell the animators want. Really, as long as the epic moments next arc are done well, I'm okay with a filler arc, just like I was okay with the Ice Hunter filler.
-
the space between the two arcs could and should be filled in with whatever the hell the animators want.
This is exactly how I feel.
I'm even of the opinion that I don't care if they just TAKE A YEAR OFF just so long as it means, if nothing more, decent pacing.
They could have finger-fucking-puppets in the interim for all I care but I just want them to cut out their dicking around with canon.
And for what it's worth that screencap of Zoro after Shishi Sonson is epic on levels previously unknown to humankind.
-

Oh hell yeah, I wanna see that.
And I agree with you 100% Greg, you took the words right out of my mouth. I fast forward through over half of this episode because all it was was zooming in on characters. WTF is that?

Oh look, one of the characters from the first batch of sidestories happens to land in the boat after we punched a giant Sea Rabbit!

Onlt good parts were Lion's Song, Sanji getting owned, the shacking and bleeding Zoro. Everything else was meh. But I don't blame the animators. There was not enough in this chapter. Dragging was needed.

Well one thing going for one Piece at teh moment though is that especially this chapter 522. That will take a whole episode by itself easy.
Haven't paid attention too carefully to Naruto content per page, but One Piece has a lot more dialogue on each page compared to the others. Especially bleach. Even an episode that seems really slow in bleach is still using 2 chapters.
I mean heck this latest chapter seems to take close to 15-20 minutes to read.
But otherwise great chapter this week, i loved it. The silence of everything with the wind blowing made it intense. And then great music right before the break when Zoro was teling him to take his head

tarrin speaks the truth. Too bad everyone at Toei is FUCKING INCOMPETENT.

Dude… Zoro was epic in this episode...
I still think this is changed him forever.
I also agree with the random filler/sidestory crap. -
Totally awesome episode. Zoro's awesomeness went up a Million points after this.
-
The impression of Zoro saying "Nothing…happened" was so much better in the anime than in the manga that my hole view on Zoro changed. It went up from "WOW" to "LEGENDARY"!!!
-
Great episode, not best. There is that one best chapter what has even better animation, scene and sound. But this is definitely great episode. Manga still owns.
-
just finished 377 TB was epic.
-
Unfortunately timing really sucks when you're talking about Toei compared to other studios. Bleach's pacing is weird because, if you think about it, that series literally ate up 20 volumes of manga in 63 episodes thinking that was going to be it…but when it wasn't, they had to go back and forth between filler arcs and regular arcs just to make sure they keep going lightning fast-ish when they do continuity. That's an anime I rather just end and wait to do OVAs (if they want them) than keep going the way they are.
OP, on the other hand, is just going the DB route: one episode, one chapter. And cause it's popular and Toei is behind it, it has no reason to change, sadly. Personally I hope they do a really long filler arc or even a series of filler arcs, but the time to do it (currently) is limited (have to move to spoilers since that's what they are now):
! Essentially any time between the departure from Thriller Bark to the moment Camie gets kidnapped on Sabaody is perfect timing for filler. You can have islands between Thriller Bark and Caimie's first appearance, you can have maybe a detour before getting to Sabaody after Duval, you can even have filler on Sabaody (with or without the Supernovas)…but once Caimie gets kidnapped, there's literally no turning back and there will be little to no filler period at this time. (well maybe they could sneak in a small one of Luffy going Robinson Carusoe on some "mysterious jungle island" until he eats a certain mushroom...)
-
How that little bit of all that huge damage screwed Zoro's body up was probably the most surprising and shocking scene in this hole episode.
Think of it not as a small portion of the pain, but as a condensed amount of the pain – a condensed attack packs more pain in a smaller package. We've just seen Kuma condense an attack to give it more impact (the one at the beginning of the episode), so he's probably done the same thing with Zoro too.
As for the episode itself:
Yep, it's a keeper.Toei -- thanks for the early Christmas present.
-
Reused footage is never good, but I forgive Toei because they NAILED all the important parts. The music, the animation, the voice acting, all tops. Just too bad we had long stretches in between.
I will say this: At first I thought Zoro didn't look bloody enough, in that I didn't think we quite got the impact of just how injured he was. Then we had the blood-soaked ground, and the final close-up, and I see that they tinted his eyes red. Brilliant little move. I mean, OUCH.
I still think the manga squeaks out ahead, but I am highly impressed with this episode. And if they stretched things, it's because you HAVE to end it with that line. Any other way and it loses impact.
-
I can't wait for next week! I've been looking forward to these episodes for awhile. I MUST HEAR BINK'S SAKE! Too bad we have to wait 2 weeks since the whole song should be played in episode 280.
-
OMG! This was one of THE best episodes EVA!!!
and when they cut to Zoro covered in all that blood…DAYYYYYYAAAAAMNNNN! O___________O
Can't wait for next episode X3 -
This should make everyone happy.
