I'm not sure but i don't think so. I believe that, for haki to work properly, the user must fully anticipate the opponent's move and, though the sisters can anticipate the moves, they are too slow to do it fully.

I think it's more like Luffy's gear 2, without control of haki, is stronger then the sister's haki. Seems to be different levels of strength of haki so far. Plus I think it's well documented that gear 2 is a blood pumping technique.

Or is that a "blame haki for everything" joke?

No, he hasn't used physical Haki yet. A haki powered up Gears 2nd would be uber powerful. It's just that Gears is so fast that the mantra type Haki that the sisters used to predict his attacks doesn't give them the ability to dodge Luffy like they did when he was fighting in base form. You can predict a attack but if your reflexs aren't fast enough to dodge your still going to get hit. His attacks are also stronger than his base form so the Haki defense doesn't work as well.

If anything this chapter basically dehyped Haki as the be all powerup that everyone was fearing it would be and just makes it the next step in the SH getting stronger. Since Haki doesn't mean a instant win. It helps but characters are still going to get stronger in other ways. Put it this way, if there's 2 characters using Haki. They may be evenly matched. But to win your going to have to rely on other methods of attacking to gain the upper hand. Look at the Skypiea arc where Luffy was fighting the Priest who was using Mantra. Since Luffy couldn't hit him by attacking normally he had to hold him so he wasn't able to dodge. Or another way to look at it. Let's say Nami learns physical Haki and can now hit a Logia. Does she now have a chance to defeat Kizaru. Hell no. Haki helps her hit hit physically but since she isn't strong enough to beat him it doesn't really change the outcome anymore since she has a Haki ability.

Great chapter and a sweat fight (Luffy being all strategic and stuff).
IMO the two Gorgon sisters aren't really hiding anything on their backs, they have just used this trick to explain the powers they have gained through their DF.
However Hancock is something else, we will have to wait for Oda to reveal that :)

what if the two sisters doesn't have anything on their back but say so.. to protect Handcock's secret. If Handcock has the polygraph on her back that could be the last piece of puzzle. Her polygraph will need to be brought to Raftel to complete the secret of onepiece…. and her dream is to perfected the King Haki or whatever..

I like how Luffy handled himself properly regarding the Boa sisters: defeating Sandersonia and Marigold yet not killing them and trying to protect Sandersonia. Somehow with the way Hancock was at the end, I'm already imagining her somehow working with Luffy and/or being forced out of the Shichibukai to protect her people thanks to Luffy.

Don't know if this has been brought up before, but after reading this chapter I reckon on the backs of the Gorgon sisters is the Slave house brand/tatoo. Hence Boa tearing up.

I would say they are pretty powerful - especially for females in One Piece. Luffy went Gear 2 earlier against them than he did against e.g. Blueno and it's not like he's in a hurry.

Luffy looked a bit different in this chapter. His jawline was more curved than usual and his chin more defined. Gear Second was drawn pretty well. The Jet Gatling spread was pretty cool with the fire being blasted away. And lol at the matches.

Hm, to me Hancock seems more annoyed than anything else. I seriously doubt that she's going to pull a complete 180 in terms of personality next chapter.

Not sure how it is called in other Countries, but I guess they're playing that what we call "Schwarzer Peter" in Germany. And yeah, Luffy's obviously losing, looking at the Cards in his hands, I even doubt he understood the rules at all o_o

It has nothing to do with Haki otherwise ThunderSonia could control it to but she got burn.
