I actually enjoy the fact that there is only two days to acomplish their mission. Yes, they might free their fairy tail and fight with them after, but it'll keep the arc from being too long or 40 chapters like ID in one piece or the WB War will end up being
Fairy Tail

-
Ok… that new episode was pretty weird. Lol, I mean, the execution was nothing new, same ol' "what if so and so switched bodies with so-and-so" type story... but it didn't even have a good ending. Pretty much all of them stayed switched, most of them being discontent with it. And then it just... ends. XD wow.
But the dragon egg side story will have some good ass animation so that kinda equals out the wierdness.
-
Those guards certainly like grabbing criminals in an exotic way.
Edoras Natsu has that Gerald face going on… I think I hate him.
-
Gotta love the Engrish there, 'specially since the ''translation'' below was certainly not what was being read:
The consciousness by which very weird magic and future 30 minutes Jare you leaves your form, and the one I'll show this time is being in the weird magic…
As well as at the end of one day approaching and changing it, if, the storm of the telephone which occurs of which I thought…
Highlight of a rather droll filler episode.
-
Just read Chapter 173. It was a somewhat okay chapter.
I'm not going to lie, at the beginning, I swore, I thought that perverted Mashima was going to have two Lucys naked. (and I'm calling him perverted)
The guy in the car was totally obvious.
EdoNatsu better be decent.
Edoras Natsu has that Gerald face going on… I think I hate him.
Haha!
-
I hate that 2nd Opening….when will FT get a decent OP?
edit: well that episode was entertaining, cool to see the happy story getting animated next week.
-
This was just a good week for Fairy Tail period. Both the anime episode and chapter were especially hilarious XP
-
This arc is fulfilling my desires, one by one. It seems like every chapter has something I've wanted for a long time. A dark guild, in the form of Fairy Tail, that is not a bunch of emotional morons who want revenge for no reason, Erza as an enemy, an increased emphasis on magical artifacts and holder magics, and most of all… a car mage. On the "Main Character," is just frosting on the cake.
The only problem I have is that this is an alternate universe, and all of this stuff will probably be gone for good after this arc ends.
As for the anime. I really dig bodyswapping, so I might be a little biased when I say I loved it. This was actually a pretty good execution of the cliche.
And am I over thinking it, or was the opening sequence supposed to be a parody of the Twlight Zone, and Macao's time card spots with the ticking clock supposed to be in parody of 24?
-
I hear you; those were definitely the 24 second counts. For me that definitely made it funnier.
What I also loved about this episode was it had no actual closure, and they even say "Are you seriously ending it here?" hilarious
-
Ya, I started reading this series like four weeks ago when i acidnetly clicked on the new chapter on mangastream. I saw natsu and wendy and the cats finding Fairy Tail the Dark Guild.
Then i went to the start and read.
All the while I was reading i thought this'd be a journey to find this fairy tail, or natsu would create an illegal(cuz evil gov) guild called fairy tail etc….. Boy was I wrong. Cuz how would i suspect the one chapter i read was in the opposite world!!!
-
Oh yeah, while I admit that I went into this week's episode with horribly low expectations, it was quite fun hearing the voice cast get to play different parts like that, since I hate it whenever productions switch the voices around too for stuff like this coughDragonBallKaicough. Though I do have to wonder how the cast was able to show up for work the next day with all the screaming that went on.

Agreed. They did a really good job. Who plays Loke though? He sounds exactly like Natsu after they switch bodies.
So next episode is the Happy egg episode, eh? Should be interesting.
I'm hoping that once the Phantom arc starts, the censorship will be lifted a bit. I mean, after 20 whole episodes… >>
-
Honestly, with the body swapping episode I thought that they were trying to adapt chapter 96 of RAVE in some way or another.
-
Fun, hilarious episode. The interactions all throughout were really funny (especially since the voice actors didn't swap and just mimicked their own pair's voice, very neat). Probably the most enjoyable episode so far, at least for me.
Chapter's great. Didn't expect EdoNatsu at all. So far, it's been good. Hopefully, Mashima keeps this up.
-
I wonder what Edo Gazelle is like… Can't really picture it.
-
He's a heavy metal rockstar that fights evil with a magic guitar and the power of Rock.
-
@Fire Fist:

no no no no no, he's a blues guitarist that hangs out with two other guys and they go by the name: ZZ ToP
-
I'm thinking either:
- He a friendly social person
- Exactly the same, but he as a cat.

Bizarro Gazille is a 98 pound weakling who is frightened of everything and hides from scary things.
We've already seen that counterpoints don't have to look the same, like in Wendy's case. ANd of course, some are alive that are dead in the main world…
-
Very good chapter. I can't wait to see what Edo Natsu does. Will have to agree on Edo Gazille on being a weakling but something tells me that he might be in the kindgom… I have no idea why.
-
i see the openings of the fairy tail anime and it does not look impressive at all, especially with the spell symbols or w/e…....won't waste my time with this one haha...
-
Why does everyone hate the spell symbols? They're fine to me.

well they look the same. or at least are like same genes. Like Wendy in this world looks like wendy's hot older sister or hot mom. She looks like wendy.
So Gazille will look like Gazille whether same build, child, grandpa, super skinny, fat, ect. But will still be able to tell it is gazille.

Scanlation for the new chapter is now out on One Manga.
Great chapter! This week's episode was also pretty damn entertaining for a filler.
-
It's been out on Mangastream for a while, which is where most of us read it. But it's about time that Onemanga finally got their scan up.
-
Watching Episode 19 @ the minute. LMAO at the body switching antics !
And Gray getting swapped with Lucy, and getting a sore back over the boobs!Well you would wouldn't you? Probably a little injoke there !
And LOL at Loke with Natsu's fire-breathing powers :D -
meh, chapter was alright.
-
174 is out on Mangastream now.
non-related spoiler
! So anyone else having problems with Mangastream? When I go on their site, I keep getting malware on my laptop. It turns off my firewall and somehow activates an anti-virus program that I don't use. Any help would be appreciated…or any recommendations on another sercurity software I could use.
-
Lol at Natsu outside a vehicle.
Great chapter. Lots of nice backgrounds and stuff. I think I'll start getting the volumes whenever Del Ray gets to this arc.
-
I thought Natsu would tenryubitopunch the King.
-
I thought Natsu would tenryubitopunch the King.
I have a feeling that'll be close to the end of the arc.
-
Ho… really nice building up chapter. ^^
LOLed at EdoNatsu who's not that cool apparently XD
And oh, so Faust is kinda like twisted character. Really ambitious, and clever, but the 'crazy antagonist' feel is there. =S He must've used the lacryma for something even bigger, and as been said, the 'fun town' is something to cover him up. Kinda like how Crocs made him looked like the 'hero' but he was actually planning Utopia. I don't know wheter Mashima could make a character as complicated as Croc, but we'll see ^^And, I've just read the extra chapter, where Natsu hatched Happy's egg. Now I've just understand as why Edo Mira act just like that. It's the Eartland Mira who changed, after Lisanna's death. She was very scary back then. Obviously the EdoMira would be kind and gentle from the beginning. Now that make sense XD (ah, yes, I'm slow ^^;)
Anyway, can't wait to read more ^^
-
Alright. Chapter 174 is out. Another Saturday chapter. I do like.
- I was really hoping we'd get to see more of Edo-Natsu, but it looks like he's leaving. Maybe we'll get another member of Edo Tail to come along and help in the next chapter. I'm sure the whole guild will come to their aid eventually, though.
- I want to like Faust, but he comes off as, "Oh, Look at me! Look at me! I'm crazy and terrible and corrupt!" It might be because he looked worn down and insane from the moment he was introduced, as opposed to deteriorating over time. Every time I see Faust I end up thinking of the King of Midland from "Berserk," so perhaps I'm setting my expectations a little high.
- This world has some really cool terrain as shown here. Detached, levitating mountain ranges and at least three moons that seem comparatively close to the surface.
- I think Natsu and Co are probably going to rescue a few of their friends right here to help them attack the castle later on. Erza, Gray, exc. I won't like it, but I expect it.
Not a bad chapter. Moving at a quick pace, but there's so much potential content in this arc that could be covered. Most surprising part was Natsu not jumping up and punching the king. Oh well. Maybe next time.
-
Good chapter. Mashima is doing well…so far.
Honestly, the name of the king is very unfitting for him. He looks more of a Cornelius than a Faust to me because the name Faust makes me think of the original Faust and his deal with the devil and the Shaman King Faust III. He should really have a different archetype than the crazy, power hungry king. It's too cliche to me.
But yeah, good pacing. Mashima seems to at least know where this arc is going. Hopefully he doesn't fumble.
-
Fairy Tail still may be extraordinarily juvenile, but it's back on its game, I say. It's fun to read again. I never asked for anything more, and it's delivering ^_^
-
Given that the next chapter is called "Welcome Home", I take it we're going to be finding out why Happy and Charle were sent to the world of the main characters, or at least they're going to be "invited" (read: captured and taken) to the palace (then again, I've been wrong before, such as the chapter "An Entire Guild for a Single Person", but I figured I should mention my thoughts).
-
The Edoras Gazelle has a cat.
-
Eh, neat as the chapter was, it really set the standard of mediocrity for Fairy Tail in my eyes.
The King's been set up as a huge mastermind/asshole whose very fate is game-changing to the arc. The way that scene was set up, it would have been very shocking and powerful if the most important figure of the arc was just smashed just like that. Would have taken him down a peg and sending him a nice message that his actions were to have serious consequences. The fact that Natsu did NOT hit him, while sensible, really just made the whole ting average.

Aren't you being a little unreasonable here? They're in a city full of armed guards and soldiers, his Lieutenant Coco is right next to him (and seems to be able to use magic), Natsu can't use his fire magic except by the lachryma device he purchased (and even then, it doesn't work very well), and the only summon that'd actually be useful for Lucy (Loke) is "indisposed" at the moment. There's way more guards than the last two times; they wouldn't stand a chance. Plus, they're all the way in the back of the crowd and he's in the front of it, on a raised stage.
There's a big difference between what Luffy did (Punched the shit out of a guy that was right next to him, with no guards nearby) vs. What Natsu would have to do (force his way through a crapload of guards, get up on the stage somehow, and fight through the guards and Coco to get to the King and punch him).

Doesn't matter. It's the action that counts and consequences be damned after. Make it so Natsu could hit the King no matter what. Like I said, it was sensible but it made the whole thing pretty weak in the end.

It's not a matter of "act first, consequences later". You're not getting it. What you're suggesting would have been physically impossible at that junction. They were all the way in the back of the courtyard, Faust was with his guard in the center.
-
Nice chapter Mashima seems to be on the right track here. And i'm glad Natsu didn't just run up to punch the king, he has no powers here so they need to be more careful, and probably find a way to get "strong" first.

Actually, Luffy actually was running towards Camie and there were auction guards he literally plowed through. Apparently, they couldn't slow him down. Apparently he got them out of his way and the Chalrose shot Hachi. After Luffy punched him out, shit got crazier.

He still would've gotten captured and would be too late to save Magnolia and Earthland-Fairy Tail. That is if Lucy never gets captured. Apparently, Natsu isn't physically capable and is reliant on magic. But him getting captured and the end nearing for Magnolia and Earthland Fairy Tail would cause the captured Natsu to gain a powerup from anger and Nakama Aura.
@Fire Fist:

You're saying it can't be done. It can actually and has been done. Luffy (Who is an example and not is apart of the series in any other way) could muscle through a crowd like that like he did at the auction, Enies Lobby and Water 7. Natsu, on the other hand, has shown that he can't since he is more reliant on his magic by the looks of it. Just goes to show Natsu isn't physically capable enough to mob a crowd like Luffy alone.
So whatever you're saying really depends on the character and their physical prowess. It's not impossible. It's completely possible for a character with enough physical strength. Natsu apparently doesn't have enough physical strength. It's still possible for Natsu who could actually do it, just by using his "magic" flame sword and charging.
Well whatever, I don't have a problem with Natsu not jumping at Faust. I'm glad Lucy stopped him or else I would be accusing him of unoriginality.
-
Natsu doesn't have his powers here, it would be the same as if Luffy had seastone handcuffs on and Nami stopping him before he gets himself killed because he is not his normal strong self.
-

Naw, the thing is, Luffys strength is weakened and his powers are hindered and is in turn not a good example nor a reasonable comparison since Luffy handcuffed is physically weakened also unlike Natsu who just lost the ability to access his magic without being robbed of his strength. Plus found an alternative to do magic. It's not the same.
The best example is Luffy, even if he didn't heat his fruit. He is still physically capable of taking on the crowd since he was trained by Garp to be strong enough to fend for himself. He just doesn't have range advantage.
It's best if we stop talking about Luffy comparisons and such.
-
I just hope Faust does not turn into Zero when this arc reaches its peak…

You're not understanding my point at all. Details aside on how he manages it and escapes from it, Natsu hitting Faust just like that would have been totally shocking and satisfying because of how out of the blue it would have been. It would have been stupid, reckless, completely random and near-suicidal but that's what would have made it so awesome if Natsu managed it. A pure demonstration on how his friends>>>>>>>>>>>all that crap. Not to mention the bonuses of sending the King a message and what not. Now when Faust does realize about his potential enemies it won't be satisfying unless there's a huge ass build up and that's not Mashima's style. He's gonna fast pace things and will probably have random soldier A tell him about it while he's chilling on his throne. Very weak and unsatisfying.
Oh and Luffy and this can't be compared unless you want to compare every shonen protagonist that hits an authoritative figure. Unlike Natsu which was in the air and could have been a total surprise, we knew from the moment the assholes were introduced that one of them was going to get smashed in by Luffy. Since then it was just pure build-up towards that moment finished off with a fantastic hit that left us all totally satisfied and thensome with not only the well-deserved brutality of it but the dire consequences his actions implicated and how much Luffy didn't give a fuck. That's what especially made it awesome. Mashima had his chance at that, he failed it. That just makes it weak.
-
oh~ the latest episode of FT had broken my heart~~~~
and according to the manga….nastu is pretty useless without fire~ i bet luffy can still fight like sanji without devilfruit~
It's best if we stop talking about Luffy comparisons and such.
hey~ why not? since the characters and 60-70% of art style are similar~ even both plots is all about fantasy~ so…
it's so fun for doing that! comparisons and such is fun~ -
the new chapter is out o:
Anyways this chapter was loads better. enjoyed it much . :]
