Yeah and in Boomtown he was called out on that. He has the power of a god but not the perfection(for lack of a better term) to use it. Which makes sense since you have cases where your entire species might be wiped out if you hurt one of the Doctor's friends.

Doctor Who 12 day world tour…sounds absolutely exhausting. http://www.doctorwho.tv/worldtour
-
And now we have an airdate! August 23rd.
Short teaser:
-
Just under two months to go then. I'm getting excited.
-
"Be my pal, Clara. Am I good man?"
Interesting.
-
Very interesting
-
The TARDIS interior is new, too. Looks a bit more retro, other than the coloring.
-
ANOTHER redesign? They just changed Matt's like, 6 episodes ago.
I guess in Doctor timeline its been a couple hundred years, but still!
-
I love Doctor Who both the classic and the new one. In fact someone I knew loves Doctor Who during the RTD era but finds the Moffat era Doctor Who not as exciting as it was when RTD was in charge. I hope Capaldi's doctor would bring back the full time excitement. Oh and I like the Sixth Doctor outfit.
-
They changed the design in the classic series quite a bit too, the difference was just more subtle.
-
Good Find Cosmic. I need to watch more of the classic series
-
Hulu+ and Dailymotion are your best bets.
I'm on the final stretch now I guess, the 7th Doctor.
Paradise Towers
wtf
-
What was the deal with season 14? Yeesh, it looks really out of place compared to all the rest of the original series.
New series has been way less clean, and done away with the round things. I'm not really sure if I like the clean or the cluttered look better. CLuttered is more of a lived in madman's machine I suppose.

If memory serves, that was actually an old archaic TARDIS hub that The Doctor had to use because of insert plot point here and I think he only used it for an episode or two.
EDIT: Yeah, he was just showing Sarah Jane around and that was the secondary control room.
-
I need to get around to watching the rest of the classic episodes. I got through all or Pertwee and watched a random handful of Baker and Davison eps… but not all of them.
-

I seem to remember some reason why he ended up in an older TARDIS room. He ended up staying there for the rest of the season, though. I remember that brownish color all the way through the time that Sarah left.
I actually rather like the TV movie version. But the nice thing about the most recent set is that they finally made it a full circular room rather than a half a room like it always had been.
I think I have enjoyed the majority of the classic episodes, even the ones that were kind of bad.
Some of my favorites, in order of appearance:
Enemy of the World
Web of Fear
The Invasion
The Mind Robber
The War Games
The Silurians
Inferno
Frontier In Space
Carnival of Monsters
The Green Death
The Time Warrior
Genesis of the Daleks
The Seeds of Doom
The Deadly Assassin
The Face of Evil
The Robots of Death
Talons of the Weng-Chiang
The Invasion of Time
City of Death
The Warriors Gate
Mawdryn Undead
Enlightenment
The Five Doctors
Resurrection of the Daleks
Caves of Androzani
Vengence of Varos
The Two Doctors
Trial of a Time Lord EXCEPT for Terror of the VervoidsI'll have to add in McCoy when I'm done, also still have a lot more Hartnell to watch. (pretty sure Paradise Towers is going to end up on my poop list)
Some of my LEAST favorite
100,000 BC
The Krotons
The Mutants
The Claws of Axos
Underworld
Stones of Blood
Horns of the Nimon
The Leisure Hive
Meglos
Time-Flight
The King's Demons
Snakedance (despite people telling me this and Kinda are textbook perfect brilliance I think they are rubbish)
Warriors of the Deep
The Twin Dilemma
Timelash
Terror of the VervoidsIncidentally there are some pretty strong rumors going around that just about all of the missing episodes have been found and are being restored, but take it with a grain of salt until something official is announced.
-
I'll take the rumors with a ton of caution like usual… Yet I'll always be optimistic for at least another Troughton serial.
-
Yeah… Didn't we already go through that last year? And in the end what we got was a still quite respectable but definitely less insane 9 episodes found. I mean by all means, if they somehow managed to get like sixty missing episodes back at once that would be amazing, but… I don't think we're ever going to see something like that happen.
-
I don't want to get my hopes up either, but there is certainly quite a bit of unusual quotes and information out there. I asked someone to fill me in on everything and I got an enormous manifesto. It's not anything new, it's part of the same omnirumor that's been going for years that did lead to the releases of those 9 episodes. The search hasn't ended yet. I don't know if they'll find all of them, but I do feel hopeful that they'll find at least a few more.
-
I really missed out on all the Classic Who episodes they've been showin in the UK on the Horror Channel…. :( I hope they get repeated again....
-
They're still going.
But like I said, just pop on to Dailymotion and look for greendude33.
-
I guess i can, but nothing better than watchin them on a 42 inch big screen TV…
Resurrection of the Daleks, and the Rani story is up next week, might check them out if i get the time.
-
I was hesitant to downgrade my viewing resolution at first…but most of those classic stories don't really benefit much from it, anyway. :) You just get a closer view of the bubble wrap and plastic.
The Rani stories are meh, but I loved Resurrection.
-
It's amazing how even a 15 second teaser trailer can renew one's need for Doctor Who.
Roll on the 23rd of August.
-
I wonder if we'll get a full trailer before the 23rd or if they're going to keep everything under wraps?
I'm still thinking thinking the Doctor is going to have some serious post-regeneration amnesia. More than the usual. Not only did he forget how to fly the TARDIS, he doesn't seem to know who he is anymore. Also
! the little bits of dialogue and gestures from some of the early spoilers seems rather off-kilter. Seeming confused about who the other Doctor is that Clara is talking to when she gets the phone call from the 11th, finding hugs uncomfortable, etc. It might clear up after the first feature length episode, or maybe it'll sticking around longer, hard to tell. It would certainly be weird if he ended being a completely clean sleight, but I don't think they'd go that far.
"A man is a sum of his memories, you know, a Time Lord even more so".Also, couple of news blips today

I really want the cybermen to get a redesign. They're just not scary anymore.

[/hide]I think judging from comments like "Capaldi is a snarling beast" by Moffat that the Doctor questioning who he is will be more linked to his personality change, rather than amnesia.
! I'm not wild about the current Cyberman design but I find their Nightmare In Silver redesign infinitely better than the previous nu who ones tbh.
-
I love them they make sense plot wise. The Cybermen are all about Efficiency and Effectiveness and those designs look it.
By the way did the Cybermen take part in the Time war? I've always figured that the people who took part in it were the ones who were capable of Time travel and everyone else were just people who reacted when Time lords and Daleks showed up in their time fighting.
Also recently watched Genesis of the Daleks it was really good. Laughed everytime they mentioned Kaleds and how no one has ever thought about it as an anagram. I was impressed at how they went from that to creatures who waged war on perhaps the most advanced species in the universe and very nearly won.
-

Personality change is a given. Some degree of amnesia is also common, take the fact that Four took off in the TARDIS and apparently affected an entire planet's development without remembering during what seemed like a brief moment to Sarah and the Brigadier. We didn't learn about that until much later, of course.
! I'm not wild about the current Cyberman design but I find their Nightmare In Silver redesign infinitely better than the previous nu who ones tbh.
They're the best designed in terms of craftmenship and realism, for sure. I just wish they could actually make them a bit more scary and less like an enemy from a Sentai show.
-
I honestly haven't been all that impressed with the Cybermen in New Who. The only time I can really remember them being threatening was in Army of Ghosts/Doomsday. Even then, they were kinda shoved aside after the Daleks hijacked the episode. Closing Time was an alright Cybermen episode, too. I liked the return of the original Mondas Cybermen. And yes, the whole "Power of love." thing really made me cringe, but it wasn't enough to ruin the episode for me.
-
Sadly, Neil Gaiman had some of the right ideas to make them scary again… but the actual production and director of his episode rather botched it up. Such a shame.
-
Counting down to August 23rd can be suffering.

I think this is the history of Doctor Who in a nutshell. I don't know how many times I've read the production notes or listened to commentary where it was like, "the original idea was to do this, but budget cuts/disagreements/time restrictions meant that things had to be changed/re-written/filmed elsewhere/reused another set/model."
-

I sure hope it's not going to be a case of amnesia, that would be extremely annoying. We've seen time and time again that you can introduce a new Doctor without having to make him an amnesiac to make it easier.
I feel the cybermen just haven't been given a really solid episode for NuWho as of yet, so I'm eager for a better episode to come along.
-
@Mr.:

Yeah, every time. That doesn't mean it couldn't actually be fun if they did it. I don't even understand how it makes it "easier".
-
I don't even understand how it makes it "easier".
Because you get a short term crazy man that asks a lot of questions and has no idea what he's on about. Setup wise, its easier than having him be full competant right out the gate.

Didn't 8 have some memory problems right after his regen., but got better? And I was under the impression that 6 had some memory loss issues (plus strangling tendencies), but then again, I've never seen the Twin Dilemma.

What Robby said.
Essentially, having him forget everything and ask everyone what's going on or who he is would be an easy way as an info dump to the audience, but might seem cheap. What I'm trying to say is I get the vibe that if they went that route, it would be done as an introduction to the show for a "new" audience, which would (could) be annoying to long-time viewers.
-

Yep. 7 had memory issues too and I can't remember exactly what happened with 5, but I know he was more or less out of commission for most of his first serial.
-
Seven only didn't remember the past few moments when he encountered the Rani because she injected him with something and then disguised herself as Mel. I've actually never seen the movie and so I forgot that was a thing. 5 and 6 didn't have memory loss. Actually I take that back, 5 did but it was oddly selective…like forgetting Adric who was captured by the Master (I'd try to forget him too) and sort of forgetting who he was but in sort of a philosophical way.
-
There's a new teaser out. Putting it (as well as my thoughts about it) behind spoiler tags to prevent people from just clicking it straight away, because it has a potentially HUGE spoiler for the upcoming season.
!
! That first part sounds almost exactly like Bleach's Davros. Wonder if he's "back" or it's just the doctor having flashbacks due to the regen? A few sites are also suggesting it could be the Caan-style armourless dalek from Asylum, which on listening to a few times I agree is possible. Hoping for Davros though! -
Nice to see he rewired the phone to the main console, took him long enough.

Definitely sounded like Davros before it changed into a more daleky sounding voice. Would be awesome if Davros is back…it does sound like something he would say...based on when we last saw him...

I am currently mid-way through Let's Kill Hitler. I wasn't sure if the Davies era could be topped, but this River Song arc has been nothing short of brilliant so far. I definitely can't wait to see how this unfolds.
-
I don't get why people love RTD so much

Opinions cary between hating it and loving it.
I fall on the "loving it" end of the spectrum.
-
I'm nearly finished with Night Terrors. I have to say, I somewhat suspected Melody was really Melody Pond, but the reveal that she was indeed the future River Song was the sort one wants to see unfold. The storytelling is very…timey-whimey, but relatively easy to follow if you pay attention and catch all of the dialogue. I'm glad Melody didn't beat around the bush and the character very much gets to treat Amy and Rory like her parents, even if she has a leg up on them.
-
The first few are really spot on alt-reality American castings. (especially the first four) The others vary, but are interesting.
-
I think most of them work, but Sam Rockwell would make a better 11 than 10. All of his clips in that just screamed Matt Smith. THere was none of Tennant's broodiness.
I would have loved to see both Price and Wilder as Doctors They would have been perfect for the role.
-
Those first four are almost too perfect.
Then towards the end, things just get stupid and make me wonder if the same person made the list.
-

Yeah, Timey-wimey story telling is what Moffat likes to do. It will either make you happy and excited or bored, angry and confused depending on your personality. :P
So, apparently 5 season 8 scripts got leaked when they got sent over to the Miami office for world language translation and now everyone is freaking out. I really have no interest in seeing any spoilers, so I hope they stay hidden.
Also, I got to do a little DW cosplay this weekend.
