@Vegard:
and The Winter Soldier… Who didn't like The Winter Soldier?
I'll be the odd man out here and say me.
[hide]It was well done and worked as an action thriller no question. It was very competently done. And there were several moments where I went "woah" or chuckled at a bit. BUT. I was kind of bored for a good chunk of it.
I didn't have any FUN watching it and have no real desire to see it again. (I can say the same about say, Dark Knight. Or one of the Mission Impossible movies.) There was some chemistry between Cap, Falcon and Widow, a few jokes… But there wasn't a whole lot of warmth or joy in the movie or... rewatchability and likeability?
I'm not saying every one of their movies needs a joke a minute like Tony Stark, but the first Cap movie, whatever its failings, DID completely sell me on Cap's warmth and dedications and why he was great, nice likeable guy. Winter Soldier he was stuck in buisness mode the whole time.
Mostly its that, once you've been hit by the big twists(which was spoiled by oh... everyone... including Marvel themselves... about 2 seconds after the movie came out) a major element of the film doens't hold up to repeats. And as a comics fan obviously I knew what the deal with Winter Soldier himself was 10 years ago, so that wasn't any shock or surprise or very impactful either.
The film franchise itself didn't really go out of its way to properly build up to that. It worked in the comics because he was dead for like 50 years in real time, and it went into great detail about WHY he was used. The film just got right to it with Cap having been out for like a month, and sort of brushed right through WHY the Winter Soldier.
I'm not in any way at all saying it was bad. It wasn't. But it wasn't the amazing end all be all perfect movie experience either that a lot of people are trying to proclaim it as... and its mostly good the first time... its just not as rewatchable as the more fun movies.
Guardians is the movie I'll pull out ocassionally. Or Iron Man 1 or Avengers. I don't forsee having a need to go back to Winter Soldier, except maybe prior to just before Cap 3 hits.[/hide]
tldr:
Its a good movie, no argument. But I'm not at all in love with it.
