I am debating between Best: Bounties after Whole Cake…and Kingdom. I had interesting discussions on both. Actually Kingdom might not qualify.
For Worst: Morgan's Big Scoop. But I feel it is an infringement on Rule, Jr. I will keep thinking.

That probably goes down a rabbit hole of people making increasingly more ridiculous posts to the point that it's not even funny anymore.
It's true that most of the posts are just random (and often silly) predictions, but I believe there are a few worthy ones nonetheless.
Anyway, I'll wait for other opinions. I don't want my request to be buried on the first answer

I agree with Jabberwok - to make a post to be considered funniest you have to have a pretty good sense of the atmosphere around the thread and play off of that, sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't and it doesn't become a main focus if it doesn't. A more free association-oriented thread like Dumb Predictions is more likely to take a turn for the worse since it's easier for people to try to aim for reward bait with just about anything.

Since a lot of the threads here have become more centralized these past few years, maybe we should consider new guidelines for thread awards in the future. Like a thread can be eligible if it has, say, 250 posts made in that year or something like that.

I thought that one was late 2016 for some reason.
Town was screwed anyway, so I don't think the mistake at the end would have changed the game.

It's weird getting to the movie category and realizing how little I cared about movies this past year.
The games category though, oh man, sooooo many great games in 2017.
Mm, actually, now I have a question regarding games. Do re-makes count? Do re-masters count? Thinking of something like the Crash N. Sane Trilogy. It's not a new game, and yet it had considerable impact upon release. A similar case exists for something like Mario Kart 8 Deluxe.

Some of the votes were really hard, especially with the members. I feel I'm not active enough to give a fair judgement on all of them.
But for the series ones, those were easier. Worst Fairy Tail moment would be Mavis getting pregnant because even after years of bullshit, it still managed to surprise me.
