Then he doesn't, lol. Stop trying to treat me like some Sanji fanatic. I like all the straw hats. I can see you are trying to mildly troll me now. You don't think it will be bad story telling if sanji can hold his own vs dogtooth. You are just trying to rile up Sanji fans. Touché.

Why would anybody ever want to respond to such a stupid, pointless question?

and is not bad, not for the character, not for the arc and not for the series.

No, and don't take the conversation to such childish level.

Hold his own is different than beat 1 vs 1. Sanji taking out a commander now would mess up the power levels, sanji and zoro will take out yonko commanders just not now
@Medical:
Whitebeard wasn't interested in being the strongest. He just wanted a family.
And he still was the strongest
I want to see 'big news' Morgans vs Count chicken. Pedro can go find himself another enemy.
@Shobu:
Count can't fly.
Panels say otherwise speedreader-kun ;)
@Kaido:
Pedro and Count are nemeses though and have a history. If anything, if any 1v1 battles are actually going to happen in full, theirs is the most likely.
Once again- it already happened.
If Luffy had that much problems defeating one of Sweet Commanders then I do not see Sanji getting 1 vs 1 and winning with any of them.
Next most builded up fighter in Big Mom crew is Tamago- he seems to be shown to have most feats of fleshed out on panel characters from Big Mom crew.
And he still was the strongest
That doesn't mean he was interested in being the strongest though. Doflamingo said Whitebeard chose not to rule at Roger's rule, and he also declined learning how to get to Raftel. It really does seem like all he wanted was family. Strength is what got him to where he was, but it doesn't mean his goal was to be

To clear it up. I was sarcastic
Cracker's soldiers had same weakness as crocodile. Luffy would manage alone in the end. heck, his saliva could work too if that river wasn't around.
And for some reason you guys ignore that sanji can get help too like everyone else, it's not like sanji must get only 1vs1s. Judge and ichiji can help him.

Oh. Sorry for the misunderstanding then. Tbh I was kind of just skimming through the posts so I probably didn't read much or any of the conversation your post was aimed at.
The thing is that the fight between katakuri needs to hapoen. Whether or not Sanji can beat him with his current power is not important in the matter. To really see the year of Sanji he will need such an opponent. The timeskip was there exactly for this reason. To defeat these types of enemies. Sanji's focus is on CoO and you need to be a master at it to be able to even fight someone with Katakuri's skill so Sanji has a chance to learn here and to become stronger like Luffy's gears or zoro's hard fought match against mister One. They are in a fight against big mom now, next up will be kaidou. You can say all you want this isn't the time for this type of opponent yet but they'll need to fight them anyway and rather soon so I'm not saying there isn't room for improvement on Sanji's part but that Katakuri is a necessary hurdle Sanji needs to overcome to be able to be even the slightest bit believable in any upcoming battles and when it comes to power, the monster trio has never been that far away from each other in regards to power or skill so I think Sanji will be able to overcome Katakuri but that it'll be a hard fought match of skill mixed with CoO and that Sanji will get the praise he urgently should get, certainly within the year of Sanji. Any other opponent just won't do and he has been ridiculed enough after the timeskip.

yeah could not agree more.
the straw hats are ready to take on the yonko, and each fight they will grow even stronger. they won't be defeated by the likes of yonko anymore ;)
and sanji will prove us that the monster trio should not be underestimated anymore :)
I think the fact that Big News Morgan is there only helps the idea of the Starwhats escaping but at the same time forcing Mama to relinquish Fishman Island.
Among the many things that could happen, I believe some of these things will keep moving the gears Law was talking about.

There are plenty of strong people for Sanji to get stronger by fighting against. Katakuri - who we can easily say is Big Mom's Number 2, is not 1 of them. He's on a whole other level. It is mind blowingly stupid to think he will fight him, let alone beat him.

Of course, but it does not mean we cannot see them fight and Sanji learning a lot of their encounter, even if it is a small skirmish. We have seen that Sanji is able to dodge Katakuri's attack even with the element of surprise included.
Please don't confuse what I just said with: "Sanji is going to fight and beat him". For all I know Katakuri gets the Moscato treatment in a couple of chapters.

I know there is big opposition between: Luffy ~saving~ Big Mom and Luffy beating Big Mom. What I am not sure is: Why escaping without doing either is not considered the most viable option. Everyone is talking about the hype of the emperor's, is the crew ready, they need more time, yadidadida. While, escaping Big Mom in her own territory, crashing her tea party sends a pretty big message to the entire world. ->Morgans<-. Not only that, during Dressrosa we saw what half the crew with some scrubs could do to the Mango pirates in their turf. Now, the other half is able to aid in escaping Big Mom. This all builds up to the point: Can the Strawhats beat Kaido, the real target. Well, with this in mind: they have a chance if they are all together.
Of course, they will have help, but as always they will be at the most pivotal point of crisis, each dealing with something others just couldn't handle. Luffy was going to deal with all of this in his own way. He did not even accept the fleet even though he was going against Kaido. It wouldn't be surprising that the morale of the Whitebeard pirates is going to be at an all time low. They might even laugh when Nekomamushi bring it forward. I just want to see their reaction when they hear Luffy is the one leading the charge. Oh yeah I forgot about Law, but so did Luffy.

Would it be worse than brook vs big mom? Brook was able to injury her weapons. Sanji and dogtooth are only one tier apart. And plus sanji could have help from his brothers or jimbei. Brook and big mom both had soul powers. Sanji and dogtooth are both coo experts according to oda

1 tier apart?
In what world are the 2 of them only 1 tier apart?
The difference between them is night and day.
He'd get his ass handed to him if the 2 of them went at it. It'd be the same as Sabo vs Burgess but probably worse.

Yes, only one tier apart. Sanji is vice admiral level. Dogtooth is yonkou commander level. There is no tier between those. Damn sure closer than brook and big mom. Sabo beat burgess but they were close to the same tier. Sabo is near admiral level and burgess is lower yonkou commander.
Ugh late on this, but better then never.
Cover:
HA! Yeah this I dig, love to see Shanks and Buggy together. Kudos to the requester for that.
Luffy Oversleeping:
Can't say I didn't see this coming but tis was still funny though seeing Jinbe trying to slap him awake.
Ceremony:
Nice build up, though funny how nobody really "gives away" the bride and groom here. Pretty much a sign on how much of a farce this is. Also dug the cuteness juxaposed with the impending doom thats incoming. Especailly love that shot of Pudding and Sanji at the alter.
Pudding's Backstory:
Hmm…yeah this conflicts me a bit. I know freduian excuses are a dime a dozen but after all that hyping up to have Pudding be evil, little late now to go sympathetic with her (unless that was the intention). Even then it's pretty standard fare: bullied as a kid, no compassion given to her by the family, etc. And...oh wow, she really is Sanji's soulmate =P. But really all the motivation she needed was just someone telling her a kind word? I don't know, not saying it's a cop out since were still in development but it does have me wary where this is gonna go.
Sanji Dodging:
Wow he really did dodge it, lol. Well okay it was a jelly bean shot from afar but still that was pretty slick. And with that literal trigger, things are about to get loud.
Luffy entrance:
Pfft XD. Dammit Oda, how do you keep doing that? Making me question my guesses then turning it on it's head. Seriously though, one thing to have Luffy bursting out of the cake, but another to have him use the mirror powers to have mirror clones of himself to do it. How the heck did they even come from inside the cake anyway. Did one of Capone's men put a mirror on there or something?
Overall:
Mmm pretty good chap, I enjoyed it even if the whole "showing kindness stayed my hand" thing was a bit cliche. Not really much I can say otherwise, were finally getting into the finale of this arc and I'm still in suspense how it's gonna go down. So yeah, till next week.
Speculation:
-Vinsmokes So much for Judge knowing what's going on, gullible leader of the fearsome Germa 66 everyone. Most guess I can think of is that they're gonna try to take advantage of the chaos to take over Big Mom's island for their own and trying to put Sanji in a with us or against us situation. Heck maybe Judge feeling insulted his "inferior" son trying to save him. This does look like a two pronged climax with these characters. Though looking forward to seeing the other boys in action against Big Mom's group.

I hate it when we say character x is stronger then y and stands no shot when we didn't see any of them in proper battles. So what if he is one of bm's top men, sanji is luffy's top men. If luffy plans to take down yonkous, guess who sanji must plan to defeat so he can help with that.
Fishman Slap! Only Jinbe could could turn a casual slap into a martial art. lol. I wonder if he regrets his decision to become a Straw Hat yet. After getting a taste of how stressful having Luffy for a captain can be I would understand if he had second thoughts.
I normally don't care about weddings, real or fictional, but Big Mom sure doesn't screw around when she marries one of her kids off. Even when it's all a charade! Very extravagant and eye-catching presentation.
I don't mind Pudding reacting the way she did in this chapter. In retrospect, it would have been nice if we had more explicit foreshadowing in regards to the emotional baggage she apparently has about her third eye. Some intrigue building up to the flashback in this chapter, focusing perhaps on Pudding harboring feelings of resentment towards her third eye, would have been a boon to it.
Linlin's reaction to her wedding cake being destroyed was priceless. I feel kind of bad about that though, it was a pretty awesome looking cake.
I'm quite doubtful about it, but according to Bege, if Luffy achieves to destroy Caramel's picture and BG does her horrid scream, everyone is gonna faint, even Katakuri and Smoothie. just sayin….

Naw just the fodder will faint from conqueror haki. I guess we will see tho. This is going to be fun.
Surprise, surprise, they all got earplugs too.
Yes, only one tier apart. Sanji is vice admiral level.
yes, all vice admirals are the same, Maynard and Garp for example

Proving my point even more. All yonkou commanders aren't the same either.

so Katakuri is weakest Yonko commander?
You still have this ongoing LOL.
A: Sanji will beat someone?
B: No, Sanji is too weak
A: But sooner or later he will be strong enough
B: No he only wants too cook most of the time and doesn't need to be admiral level
A: But he will be.
B: No you wank Sanji
A: You don't like Sanji
B: What if he doesn't beat an admiral?
A: What if yes? Will you call it bullshit writing cuz only someone with a dream to becomes the strongest can become top tier?
B: Well… yeah... But won't happen
A: It will
repeat for dozen of pages... Just to repeat it some chapters later again
Why not simply end this discussion because you never will find together in this regard and simply wait who of you will be right.
so Katakuri is weakest Yonko commander?
One of whitebeards was for sure. His top 4 was awesome. Marco, jozu, ace and swordsman. The other 12? Meh
Jimbei fought ace for 3 days straight. Although, ace was younger then. You are vastly underrating sanji.
Is there anyone else here like me who would give every single future Sanji's fight for another Mr. Prince moment? We didn't have Sanji working on his own behind the scenes since Enies Lobby, after all. I know that Sanji's fans want him to shine, but if you were to ask me, the moments when he was doing his own thing (as opposed to just another fight) was when he was truly shining.

I also miss his independence in that manner. There were flashes of that when he asked Luffy for permission to engange with BM ship and when he decided to leave with Bege, but that's about it. Still waiting for that one moment that turns everything around.
I also been wondering if Katakuri's comment; 'even I can't do anything' is already foreseeing that BM is about to get shit crazy and since she beats up people Indiscriminately, the combined shock of the cake and the picture of caramel will make BG go into the biggest rampage she ever went, and thus we have Katakuri saying; Even I can't do anything to stop it. Yonko commanders don't seem to give a shit about Worst Gens, so Katakuri could go and fight Luffy, while is BG's upcoming rage what got him uneasy.

Was that in MS version? Cause in JB he says "Even I can't move carelessly".
Not sure if and how long Sanji's Observation has been going on, but the mere fact Sanji outpredicted Potato's prediction shows that he's not your average Observation user.
The last coverpage featuring a coverstory was in chapter 838, 25 chapters ago, and we still have to get at least coverpages for Vivi, Carue and most likely Jinbe. Is this the longest gap there has been between coverstories?

If I recall correctly we didn't have Vivi and Carue on the cover last time. And I think the gap between the SH's separation and From the Decks… was longer. Still it's long as hell. Add the fact that the last cover story wasn't ever story, and it gets pretty sad.

Surprisingly, there was no vivi and carue between jinbe's and the latest coverstory, that's weird. It's true that gap between the SH's separation and From the Decks of the world is enormous but Oda was clearly stalling for the timeskip, he even did each strawhat+vivi+carue twice I think. All the other gaps are shorter than the current one, I wonder if Oda is stalling for some future event.
I think that Sanjis CoO dodge we seen last chapter is comparable to Sanji avoiding Kizarus laser shot.

It doesn’t work like that anymore. Covers are fan requests now so they last as long as Oda wishes
It doesn’t work like that anymore. Covers are fan requests now so they last as long as Oda wishes
I know, I'm wondering why they're lasting so long this time. We only got like 5 covers between "from the decks of the world" and "caribou's kehihihi" and fan requests started right after the timeskip, so that's not the reason why this gap is becoming comparably bigger than the rest.
Panels say otherwise speedreader-kun ;)
You got me there, that's why i give chapters a second read.
Tamago is backwards there and it's only mid-air cause Pedro's tnt exploded. Chickens, hens nor roosters can't fly, that's why i'm saiyan…
It's been years since I last entered a forum and people are still the same. I remember people arguing that it was too soon for luffy to take on doflamingo, and he did. So I don't get why people don't think BM is going
down, not that I care either way, Luffy did said he wants to fight them all.Plus beating a yonkou does not mean other yonkou will be easy fights like some seem to believe.
How I see it there is nothing wrong with her loosing, they are already in place for it, plus she has already lost some power with two comanders down plus pekoms bobbin and however many soldiers got taken out to capture luffy, sun pirates leaving and bege,on top of that bege took precautions so that no one else can't enter the ceremony, add to that the fact that BM is a tyrant who rules by fear, so there can be manny whaiting to jump a the idea of getting rid of her, especially her guest since they have no choice but to go and even give her treasure chests, and it has been shown with some of her children that they don't care about her, unlike
whitbeard's men who did care about him, for example alladins wife and lola's sister.
Sangi vs katakuri: don't see why not, sangi's speed has been highlight before, he may be so fast that katakuri seeing the future wont be much help.
Luffy gets thrown between a building by Lucci, the very next moment he gatling's him through a wall with a new power.
Sanji gets beat by a loser like Judge then proceeds to dodge a guy who can see the future.
Can't say it's impossible for them to be strong enough. Better check the one piece script again.
Some people are ridiculous. I've been on this forum since 2010 and back then everybody was saying that after the timeskip, Luffy was only as strong as Momonga. LOL. I'll never forget that.
HEY GUYS! It's been awhile. Hope you guys are doing well~ I lurked here and there but I took a break from One Piece. Though, it feels great to be back and feels even better to be absent and still being proven correct
Let's see if I can remember all of them:
Big Mom having great intel (just from Luffy's short interaction with her) due to comparison with the Four Heavenly Kings. (http://forums.arlongpark.net/showthread.php?t=42110&p=3500232&viewfull=1#post3500232)
Me bringing up over and over in this forum about the food in the series and their exaggerated health benefits (it's a lot more emphasized during Luffy and Brook's "gag" scene).
Prediction of the next arcs using Samsara. Zou arc being next (animal realm; though to be fair this was an easy guess from when I made it), whole cake island (honestly, I'm still trying to make the connection with the human realm), most likely Wano next (Asura realm; check my Haki thread, mostly about Zoro stuff) then God realm next, which you know… the arc is kinda obvious -hint- Vivi -hint-
Then of course, the use(rs) of CoO. Maybe some of you remember but I was the one who tried to explain what Haki is (the kind that isn't said in the manga clearly itself), due to being inspired by a post off another user from another forum. However, my definition of CoO came from my own deductive abilities and guesswork. Pretty much, what I said was CoO is that the GREAT users are "caring" individuals. My old Haki thread http://www.arlongpark.net/showthread.php?t=42907 under "Observation"–though it's a thread that is still not proven wrong in any way so don't be afraid to read it).
Which leads me to reply to this idea.@sonnet:
Imo was pretty clear from the beginning that Sanji will get a huge power-up from this arc, which will be the awakening of his super-human powers (like the rest of his brothers).I don't see him beating now Katakouri mostly because they need to escape fast and beating Katakouri would require too much time which they don't have.So the full fight simply won't happen.
As anyone else, I hope Sanji does get a power-up this arc, or anytime. But the awakening of his super-human powers–UNLESS he keeps his nature, there IS NO point to it regarding his character. You see, you can understand Sanji's kind nature externally from various examples throughout the series: giving food to Gin, diving underwater first in the Arlong arc, sacrificing himself in Skypeia, and tried to against Kuma-- there's plenty of examples, you get it. Point is, Sanji is kind (even though he's perverted most of the time and that's his fault as a person) and in this arc, Oda tried to make that clear, but this is only something you understand even more if you make the connection through Haki. As I mentioned earlier, GREAT CoO users are caring individuals, I still don't know how it could possibly evolve since I haven't thought about the series in a while but maybe we'll see a glimpse of it in this arc (besides you know seeing into the future). With that said, Sanji being the way he is, is a contrast to his brothers, so maybe he'll gain superhuman abilities who knows, I'm not ruling it out, but the guess I would make is that he would show them up through his use of CoO. Which is attributed to his nature. You guys get it.
Anyways, good to be back!
I really don't understand why Sanji dodging a jellybean is being seen as so significant. Yes, it came against a guy like Katakuri, but we know where Katakuri went wrong - he foresaw Sanji dodging a shot, and he thought he'd dodge the priest's shot, but he took initiative too early and ended up being the one to make his prediction come true. Sanji is a proficient Observation Haki user, so his dodging the jellybean is something to be expected. To me it's no more of a feat than him blocking Judge's spear with Armament. I have no reason to believe he's capable enough to engage Katakuri in a head-on confrontation based on what I've seen so far.

So once Big Mom and her crew gets taken down by a dainty little last-second alliance like you two are describing, are you ready to root for the gripping struggles of a massive army that's still being built as they fight against another Yonko?

I don't think he foresaw him just dodging a shot, with his ability he should clearly see sangi dodging the priest's shot, so he decided to shoot, not sure wich site translate better but in mangareader, katakuri says he dodge that too, so he may have shoot to were sangi was going to be after the priest's shot( probably not ,but would have been more impressive)

His Observation doesn't give him clear vision into the future - for example, he only saw Pudding collapsing on the ground and didn't see why she did it.
Two chapters ago he saw a guy pull out gun and shoot two of bege subordinates, I think he can see clearly enough, even if he had only seen sangi dodging a bullet he would have seen the direction of the bullet, would he not? So he would have know he was going to dodge his jelly bean.
