Episode #1 was already really funny. I was happy not to have any of the usual sexual harrassment and mistreatment of the female characters so far, too. I hope that having Kakihara Yuuko as the head writer and Komaki Aya as the series director led to those kind of ideas being shot down.

I really want to see more of the good old Dragon Ball humor. Hopefully at least one of the wishes gets completely wasted. I'd so love it if the Namekian just wishes for a toothbrush, as well as a reserve one, so that he wastes the remaining two wishes completely.
Considering that there was a running gag about him smelling terrible, seems like there's a decent chance one of them will be wasted on dealing with that.

They really missed a trick with Piccollo. Reverting him to a child should have still had him full grown. He was only like 3 years old at the end of DB and 8 at the start of Z.
But that would have killed the entire joke I guess.
Popo having horns is pretty neat.
I love that there is a lot of plot and character threads going on in these first two episodes. I honestly hope that there isn't much in the way of fighting for a while, this is way more exciting to watch unfold.

Some of them are definitely cast to be young sounding but I also wouldn't be surprised if this was a way to gently soft reset the cast given that the entire group is in their 70's or older, and some of the original cast has passed on.
Sazae-san and Lupin have both had to do full cast resets, that time has to come for Dragonball eventually.

Yeah, I definitely wish that they had done a full recast in 2009, but here we are nevertheless. With Nozawa now 88 and the first anime turning 40 in 2026 I'm wondering if that will be the official cut-off or not.
I really enjoyed these first two episodes of Daima.
Up to Daima, I think BoG and Superhero were the two adaptions that got the feeling of the DB manga right the best in the anime format.
My love will always be the strongest for the DB/DBZ anime adaption because I really like how it fills some of the holes of the manga, but it has its own issues.
It's, for the most part, really badly paced and as much I think some of the additions are really nice, a lot of the anime's filler also isn't very good.
For example, I really like how Goku's training with Kami and Popo is expanded upon in the anime while the filler on Namek is for the most part really bad.
And I really like how Goku's training with Korin is expanded upon in the anime and we get a few episodes with Goku and Chi-Chi at the end of OG DB or how Gohan's training takes a few episodes to make Piccolo's redemption arc stick a little more.
The individual episodes that don't disrupt anything.
But Daima so far is basically perfect pacing-wise to me. It has just the right kind of slow for the start of a story, just the right timing for jokes and it probably has the best adaption of Toriyama's (at least modern) art style.
It really feels like it gets the spirit of the series and I hope it stays consistent like this.
I've seen the first episode so far and.....short figure schemes against Goku and friends, only to turn them into children? All the GT jokes have been made so I won't add on.
I think it's....interesting? to put this saga immediately after Buu and before all the Super stuff, but then you had Kibito and Shin defused (+sticking with the previous explanation about the earrings) earlier, so....is this supposed a completely different continuity? Obviously there's no Beerus/Whis because then things would just be good easy but it's just a small thing I was wondering.
Recent DB stuff has been leading into the Demon Realm which is cool, because in the actual original story it's barely a footnote in the final arc, so always cool. They even weaved the thread between "Piccolo('s kind) is demon" and "Namekians are aliens".
I know this is silly adventure stuff but there is a level of psychological horror to have Goku and friends deage into children without even knowing. Like at least in GT Goku was like, in front of Pilaf when he was using the balls, this is some unseen element morphing them lol.
It's not an alternate continuity, it's just an inconsistency.
For all that GT is very, very clearly not canon anymore, and most of the movies never were, (especially the original DB movies with kid Goku that were all clearly a separate thing) they're still going out of their way to not overlap it and officially obliterate it. Timeline absolutely refuses to move past where the manga ended no matter how much that cramps things more and more with unseen adventures and powerups.
So at this point you just have to run with inconsistencies being part of it.
Things got a little weird when you get to Kalifa and Broly because those are just outright over-riding the older movies.
At some point they're either going to have to actually re-animate the series from scratch, or actually move forward a little and age up the kids because they're really running out of space to play in.
I wonder if we'll ever (Super, Daima, or otherwise) get to the stuff mentioned in DB Online - mainly Gohan writing a book on ki stuff for a layman and Goku and Vegeta ending things in one final duel.

I don't think DB Online is a thing anymore, although parts of it like Towa have been exported over to other parts of the franchise.
Dragon Ball GT and the original seventeen films are not factored into Toriyama's work for Daima and Super. Dragon Ball GT is outright treated as a separate timeline by Bandai and their arm of the franchise. In the Super Dragon Ball Heroes promotional anime, there is a separate Gokuu specifically to be Super Saiyan 4 Gokuu.

They're not weaker, so much as they need to adjust to their smaller bodies. But yeah, the characters haven't faced a real threat yet, and I think that's a problem. This has been, like, three or four episodes worth of plot at the most, stretched into five, unfortunately.
Going to see Daima in theaters today I'm pretty excited
I didnt even realize but apparently only Goku keeps his usual VA once the gang shrinks...doubly ironic in the series where voice actors often voice all variants/family (Son family, Trunks, Freeza/Cooler)
