How utterly disappointing… I can't believe we had to wait a full two weeks for that. What a joke of a chapter.
It's as if nothing at all had happened, and what little of importance did felt rushed and forced cough everythingPedrocough. Luffy gets himself caught, escapes, runs around spreading chaos and then suddenly out of the blue he goes back to his spot outdoors ? This is plain stupid. I would MUCH, much rather have watched more actual development on Sanji's side (as opposed to more of him mulling over the same thoughts over and over again), instead of wasting pages with a captain who basically ran full circle back to where he stood some 10 chapters ago.Bah!

Unfortunately, this time is not considered true. Do you remember when Robin showed Luffy that she will leave for a fake reason, because she got tired of those pirates, while in reality she was trying to protect them from the WG?!
It's the same thing with Sanji, but this time Luffy chooses to stay in "the promise place" even while knowing that Sanji had to say what he said and chose to stay behind is because he is protecting his mentor and restaurant!!!
To be honest, I thought that Luffy will go and act as he usually does. Stand in front of everything to protect his NAKAMA and not wait for the blonde prince in the promise place. -

He left Nami with someone who went toe to toe with his brother who he never was able to defeat, someone who was present at the Paramount War and managed to hold his own. As Sereques said, Chopper and Carrot both said themselves they're fine (which they are), last time Luffy saw Brook he left with Pedro on their covert mission. Luffy is not their babysitter, he can't watch them all the time just to make sure they're safe. He trusts them far enough to take them into the most dangerous parts of the world. That IS what a captain does.

The job is to get Sanji back.
This may have been true early on, however now we know the dice were loaded right from the start and all hell broke loose, I would say the job is to get everyone back safely. Brooks was captured, Sanji is still not out, Nami is somewhere in enemy territory, the mirror world team may need help at some point, and Big Mom's troops aren't trying to make prisoners anymore. In light of all this, I find it irresponsible on Luffy's part to just continue as if nothing had changed and passively wait in his "promise spot" while the rest of the crew all take great risks for his and Sanji's sake.

Well, that's the thing. Yes, none of them are alone and in imminent peril - save maybe Brooks who is about to get his own page in the book of freaks. However, everyone is nevertheless in enemy territory with Big Mom's forces hunting them : in the long run, none of them are safe. I have a hard time accepting that Luffy would just go back to his starving spot, where Sanji has zero chance to return to over the next twelve hours anyway. Is this supposed to make him cool? I would much prefer to see him keep spreading chaos, try to stop the wedding (if he knows it's a deadly trap meant to kill his friend, where's the sense in letting it take place ?) or try to regroup with the rest of the crew. Be proactive.

Luffy knew what he was doing when he left Nami with Jinbe. Plus it was very implicit since Zou that such a mission to Whole Cake Island would be fraught with peril.

Nothing unexpected happened and yet you are still so angry. We know that there will be a wedding scenes. We knew that Sanji wouldn't leave after what Reiju said about wanting to die and we know we have about 20 chapters left in this arc. If you expect Sanji and Luffy to run off into the sunset every chapter you are setting yourself up for disappointment.

So he still has his soul inside of him due to his body evidently being conscious. Releasing his soul wouldn't help anyways since it's intangible and visible to other people. At most, he can miraculously find one of the Straw Hats and inform them about his capture and Pudding's race.

Baron Tamago gives me some things to think about in terms of Oda's use of literal names and how this tends to be lost in translation. Granted, this doesn't happen all that often, but often enough to be a trend.
So Oda likes to name things what they are. It's a joke that the name is so literal and so accurate. Sometimes it's a one-off character like the marine, Commodore Yarisugi, whose name means to be overzealous, and who spends his whole single page of screentime doing exactly that. Sometimes it's a long con, like when we first hear of the island Zou, the name meaning elephant, and are shocked to learn, a hundred chapters later, that the island is literally a giant elephant. Then we get two for the price of one with Tamago. At first the joke is that his name means egg, and he literally looks like one, but then something like two hundred chapters later the second joke comes: he 'hatches' and his name changes to mean chick instead.
All of those jokes only work if the reader actually understands the name being given. The joke was not meant to be, 'this character's name is the word for egg in another language,' like we get in the scanlations, the joke is meant to be, 'this character's name is literally egg.' The translator can explain it in a note by the side of the panel, but we all know what they say about having to explain jokes. It's just not the same. I remember reading the chapter where the crew first sees Zou, and someone says words to the effect of 'that explains the name,' which was a little confusing until I saw someone online say that zou means elephant. That would have been pretty funny, I thought, if I spoke Japanese. But I don't, that's why I'm reading a translated version in the first place.
But I can't rightly fault any translator working week to week for being tripped up by Zou or Tamago. No one has enough foresight to guess where those names could have led from their first use alone. It's the kind of thing that would be nice to see touched up in any rewrite or retranslation of the series for the smoothest possible reading experience, though. Hindsight is 20/20, and if I were to suggest ways to rewrite these things with hindsight in mind; Baron Tamago is now Baron Egg, who becomes Viscount Chick, then Count Chicken, and it's obvious without having to look at forum chatter or translator notes exactly what his deal is. Commodore Yarisugi is Commodore Overzelous. Zou is a little harder to do, since 'elephant' lacks the Japanese's brevity. If it were me, I'd suggest The Isle of Fant, phonetically reading like elephant, but able to be referred to shortly just as Fant where needed. The original jokes stand. Again, I'm saying this with the benefit of hindsight. No one could have guessed the exact relevance of these names the weeks they were revealed.
Tamago, Zou, Yarisugi and others may be accurate directly to the names written in Japanese, but changing them makes for a smoother reading experience and sticks more accurately to Oda's intent for the characters instead.

Add Kuma in that list. OP defies the general notion that proper names should remain untranslated because some of them are more like word plays before being names.

This probably comes down to personal preference, but I actually much prefer using the original name whenever possible, and then explaining any jokes in a TL note. The translations to my native language tried their best to translate literally everything, even if only to make a single joke work. Then you'd be stuck with a silly name for a character whenever they're referenced in future. For example the Impel Down Guard Saldeath (Sarudesu) was translated as something like M. onkey so that the joke could be understood. The problem is that in my native language it sounds really stupid and the name was for a character whose name was still referenced later. In a similar fashion, Baron Egg and Count Chicken sound a bit silly to me.
That said, I don't know how the original names sound if you actually understand Japanese. It might be that for a fluent Japanese speaker the original names sound just as silly as Baron Egg or an island called Elephant does to me. It might be that translating every name into the English equivalent captures Oda's intent better, in which case I suppose I just prefer the less accurate way of translating names.

I know he has Robin but still…it'd be interesting to see this power in action and how it allows him to read a Poneglyph. So far we've only seen it work in regards to living things like the Sea Kings or Zunisha
I'd rather that never happen. It's just not in Luffy's nature to care about reading and maps and information like that. Even if he could read it, he probably wouldn't understand it - it'd be left in Robin and Nami's hands to figure out the what and where, so it's better that Luffy be his own self instead of a copy/paste of Roger. Not that I mind him awakening the ability of being able to hear things, but he's a different character and person to Roger, he should use that ability in a different way than Roger ever did.
Frankly, I've enjoyed the pacing so far, though I find it a bit faster (kinda wish it'd slow down a tad) I'm still enjoying it. The thing a lot of people reading week-to-week don't realise is that we need chapters like this to round out the story or it feels flat as a whole. Things take time to get done, as well they should, and pieces of the story need telling. I trust Oda to tell the story right, so I'm happy to go at his pace.

Pretty sweet chapter.
- Tamago's Devil Fruit is way better than I'd anticipated. He's basically a Chicken Pokemon and I love it.
- Brook's combat abilities are praised by Big Mom.
- Napoleon the sentient tricorne? Too perfect.
- We get some more info related to Poneglyphs/Roger
Literally the only thing I raised an eyebrow at was Luffy being glad that Sanji "wasn't tricked".
