@LostTimeLord and Netflix with their live-action show. How long before crunchy-nation dubs all of the movies?

Really annoyed and disappointed with the lack of information regarding the next episode drop. They advertised and showed off G5 almost a full month ago, and we've heard nothing about release dates or any kind of announcement. I know this is par for the course and how things have been for a while, but it's only affecting me now because I only have 17 episodes of dub left to watch, we watch about 30 episodes a weekend, and I am REALLY eager to show my partner G5
Outside chance they drop tomorrow?
-
They always drop on tuesdays (or at least theyre SUPPOSED to) so highly unlikely I'm afraid.
-
One piece dubs never had consistent advertisements or release schedules from the very beginning. But for as long as I can remember, new sets on Tuesdays (except those 2 times it dropped randomly during the week).
-
@Blake-Bakes-Cakes The last several drops have been all over the map. I think the only weekday they HAVEN'T dropped on in recent memory has been on a Friday.
Last time they dropped on a Thursday was last March, but the last three drops have been on a Wednesday, Tuesday, and Monday respectively. Otherwise, yeah, Tuesdays have been the name of the game.
-
And we’re lucky if we get a Twitter post advertising the release. Years back before digital, we had to stalk funimation’s hard to find upcoming releases or the rightstuf store. Next set realistically could drop this Tuesday. It’s also very likely it’ll drop next month. The only guarantee is the first bit of news that drops about gear 5 set, @Blake-Bakes-Cakes will be the first to know! Lol
-
@SniperKingSogeking we’ll find a way
-
lol you may be surprised I havent been as on top of things lately I've usually found out news from here
-
I can’t think off the top of my head, but did we ever get an official dub translation for Yamato’s devil fruit? I don’t recall at all
-
Dog-Dog Fruit Model Okuchi-no-Makami; it was mentioned in Episode 1042
-
@midod thank you!!
-
Ok everyone throw ice cubes in the toilet and put a spoon under your pillow tonight. And hopefully we wake up to a new episodes tomorrow
-
Heads up: One Piece sale at CR! If you're a member, many of the sets are $20 or less.

Nope. Man, this batch has been a longun

@Zephray i guess crunchyroll wants us to feel the same anticipation subbed watchers felt waiting for gear 5

Today is the final day of Funimation. So if you haven't canceled your Funimation account yet, you should do it now.
-
Really hope once the dub is 'caught up' we can finally revisit the earlier films... Baron Omatsuri first and foremost.

Ironically enough I think Toei and Crunchyroll are indeed dubbing the latest episodes and just taking their sweet time to release them. So they are moving the goalposts and we may never see movie dubs.
I would LOVE being wrong though.

@Captain-Krupp Once season two of Netflix's Live-Action One Piece becomes even more popular, and the upcoming One Piece anime reboot by Wit Studio gains more attention, fans will undoubtedly demand that Toei Animation dubs the movies into English. It's only a matter of time before the movies get the treatment they deserve.

I’ve always felt this way, too. The question is: how much time?
-
I've always found it odd that the earlier movies haven't been dubbed considering how huge One Piece is in now. And to get movie 8 dubbed first, THEN movie 9 skipped, but THEN Strong World dubbed.....??
I know the earlier ones are on the shorter side but maybe we'll get a compilation one day or something.
-
Movie 8 getting dubbed was part of the 4Kids -> Funimation changeover, iirc. I think at the time, going back and dubbing 1-143 was not guaranteed, so movie 8 gave them the opportunity to do Alabasta content, By the time movie 9 came along, they already had the rights to Drum Island. Plus, I think Movie 9 was held back because of Franky (who had been dubbed already in Unlimited Adventure, but I remember a lot of handwringing about it at the time). Strong World took a few years to get dubbed, but it makes sense why they started dubbing the capital F FILMS.
-
Well that was a whole month of no new uploads. I suppose they must have exhausted themselves dubbing episode 1071 in time for the convention. Or they're still dealing with issues involving the Crunchyroll buyout.
-
@Trueblade74 I’m sure Toei Animation isn’t having any problems from that mess. It's probably different reasons
-
Yeah all the merger problems were solved months ago, funi closing altogether is just the final nail.
-
The sad thing is that everything still haven't been transferred over to Crunchyroll yet. For example the recent new dub of Gundam Seed, Outlaw Star (both sub and dub), Eureka Seven (both sub and dub), Tenchi Muyo! (OVA Series 1 - 3 both sub and dub) and The Slayers (all 5 seasons both sub and dub) haven't been transferred yet.
-
Still no one piece
-
I really do hope we get to see the old movies eventually. It seems most other big Shonen Jump series have had all or most of their films dubbed and released in English. Naruto, Bleach, Dragon Ball, etc. for certain.
Though, oddly they never dubbed the 'Yo Son Goku & Friends Return' OVA.
-
@StrawHatJedi the last one is due to copyright BS

Voyage 15 digital purchase confirmed next Tuesday ! Toei also release a preview clip

Maybe we’ll only have to wait 2 weeks for Crunchyroll like last time? I won’t count on it, but I sure will check every Tuesday!
-
I wish they would just release both batches to finish Wano out already, we all know all episodes are dubbed already
-
Stephanie Young mentions in this video they did the scene where the ship falls down a waterfall “last week”. So they finished Wano around the start of february.
(It’s at 8:17)
-
It’s an episode fewer than expected. Guess the next set will likely have fifteen episodes?
-
Probably just a mistake. They can only fit 7 episodes per dvd so once it released physically theyd have to include 3.
-
You also have to remember there are the recap episodes as well. Since Season 13, Voyage 15 will have two recap episodes (the Kid/Law/Big Mom's fight recap and Barto Room 3: Gear 5 recap). I don't know how they going to end Wano in one more set. Since there is 17 episodes left of Wano (This includes the final 2 Wano recap episodes).
-
I guess, they didn't seem to factor them into the episode count before tho.
-
Wonder if they’re short-sighted or what. Maybe an extra episode will be in this set beyond what they’ve said? Or they’ll stick the last one or two into Egghead?
-
Nice of Toei to send out a preview clip!
-
@Zephray 1086-1088 are technically part of Egghead, though it'll be weird to have 3 episodes lead into what is obviously a different season, it's hardly the first time it has happened. (Random episode of G5 says hi)
-
I wouldn't consider Egghead started until 1090.
-
Also there is the final Wano recap episode that's before the first episode of Egghead
-
FWIW, Episode 1089 is the official start of Egghead, insomuch that Toei advertised that episode's air date as the start of the arc and Netflix's near-simulcast started on that episode.
-
Yeah I was just talking in terms of the official separation.
-
I have to mention something I realized, if Stussy is a clone of Miss Bucking Erica Schroeder should play them both.
-
They were both cast before the reveal, and I doubt they'd recast. Characters having different VAs when they're older is pretty common, I don't think it's an issue.
-
Since there was some concern about it earlier, they do keep things consistent and go with "Fifth Gear"
-
Re: 1086-1088 being Wano or Egghead-- perhaps the best way to characterize them is Post-Wano? Point being they adapt chapters (1058-1060) that are classified as Egghead/the start of the final saga by Oda, and 1060 is split across 1088 and 1089.
Funimation has never really adhered to the original Japanese season classifications and I highly doubt they'll start now.
Either way, it's not likely we get 17 episodes (15 + 2 recaps) in one drop, so Occam's Razor and such.
