@Kaptayn:
Thing is, doesn't Oda always draw by hand ?
He draws by hand, but the manga, I believe, is always touched by photo editing software. In this case, it would be virtually completely unknown, especially to me who has little experience in photo editing apps compared to professionals, to know when or where the manga was modified by the apps.
@ladyhawke:
If he was indeed borrowing from French, then he wouldn't write in in abbreviation, especially if we consider that the rest of the sentence is not complete.
So he only wrote "avec" abbreviated, and not the rest? If he was indeed trying to write in abbreviation he would have made it that the whole sentence fits in in that small space. Unless he was just texting and was too lazy to write the whole sentence.
That's a good point. The problem with abbreviation is that you may abbreviate the word by cutting it in half(more or less), as in the case of 'information' being abbreviated into 'info'. Or you may omit letters from inside(and even outside) the word, as in the case of 'something' being abbreviated to 'sth'.
In any case, on second thought, I think that's a print problem. It was probably written as 'are', but the 'are' ended up having some of its letters chipped off on the print version, in addition to it being most likely drawn by the author, which creates a size difference between a letter and another.
@ladyhawke:
You're the only one who reads "are"as "avc".
Correctness is never majority dependent. The thought that it's majority dependent is the Appeal to Majority Fallacy.
@ladyhawke:
Maybe you should wear glasses or something…
Maybe I ought to borrow yours? Haha.
Jokes aside, this is not a matter of eye sight. It's a matter of 'visual ambiguity'. It happens in life:happy:

@ladyhawke:
And the correct abbreviation of "avec" is "avk or ac" as seen here:

Thanks! I appreciate your help in providing me with proper guidance in respect of this issue. I believe, as mentioned earlier, that it's 'are'.

I must admit that when the story about Sanji was being told to us, and we saw Big Mom's ship, I got reminded of RomanceDawn since he desires, practically more than anyone else on this forum(according to my observations) to see Jimbei back in the story again.
I actually am not fond of the idea of Kaido being the first emperor to go down because he is more menacing than any of the other emperors, but that's likely just me being biased.
Kaido was said to have suffered 7 defeats, & has been tortured by the emperors. I couldn't possibly imagine Shanks or Whitebeard doing something as hideous as torture, but I would find it completely plausible that Big Mom would be able to do something like this. In this case, it is safe to assume that Kaido has previously lost to Big Mom; otherwise, I don't see how someone of his caliber could let others torture him while he is fully capable to fight back. So if Kaido lost to Big Mom previously, Big Mom should be tougher. In this case, Kaido should be the first to fall down.
If Big Mom was the first to fall down, there won't be much hype to be expected from Jack. In this case, it would be good if Jack were the first to fall down, and then our heroes could go rescue Sanji from Big Mom. But then again, we have the Sanji year... If Jack were the first to fall down, it would take practically a year for the battle to reach its conclusion, in which case there won't be a Sanji year since all focus would be dedicated to Jack. Pretty interesting where things are headed.
I also wonder how Weevil falls into all this. If Luffy takes down one of the four emperors or Jack, the one billion berry man, Weevil won't have that threatening hype, unless the first bounty that he has gotten, along with his invitation to the warlord system, was 480 million berry due to some stormy act he performed in the New World (or GL).
It would be pretty cool to have Marco join the storyline during the Kaido arc (or should I say the Wano arc?).
