-

–- Update From New Post Merge ---

-
Ah..Movie nights, this might work with some of us..I will join the fun !
My 2° week movie nomination will be Beauty and the Beast (The disney movie).

That sucks Jinbei.
There will at least be a week though for the movie to be discussed in this thread, so you'll get to take part in that at the very least.
Edit: Gonna have to limit nominations at 18, since that's the max amount of options in a poll. 2 more nominations left at this point.
-
I nominate Surf Nazis Must Die
-
Adventures in Babysitting…...
-
Adventures in Babysitting…...
One nomination per week, sorry!
You can nominate that for the third movie when next Saturday rolls around though.
-
So, I see some people nominating terrible movies for week two. We gonna Riff them a little?
Then I nominate Dragonball: Evolution.
-

You must really hate us.
-
If only we had "The Last Airbender" in there as well…
Oh well, nominations are now closed for week 2.
-
Super Mario Bros. and Food Fight got nominated before now.
I mean, Super Mario Bros. is about DBE level, but Food Fight?! DBE is freaking Godfather II compared to Food Fight.
-
For the record, Food Fight is much more amusing than DB:E. And yes, it is that much worse. Haven't seen Super Mario Bros. in a looooooong time, but I'm pretty sure Food Fight trumps it, too.
We should do a theme month for bad movies.
-
We also need to watch Heavy Metal and Robot Carnival at some point.

Eh…bad movie month will just end up as another clustermuck like "Free for all month". I say if we want to ensure these movies getting in, most likely we should opt for 1.Live Action Anime/Game movie month 2.Food Movie Month or something of the sort
-
On the topic of theme months, we could do a specific genre month; horror movie month, musical movie month, etc.
Or if you don't want a month of similar movies, we could have theme months based on actors. For example, a Steve Buscemi month could have Reservoir Dogs, Ghost World, Monsters Inc., and Big Lebowski. That way there would be a bit of variety from week to week.
-
Oooh, I like her Idea! ^
Theme months based on actors are good! That way, we can see very big varieties in films
-
Well actor month goes without saying considering a Nic Cage month is pretty much essential.
-
Yeah, that's pretty much what I had in mind regarding them.
On February 7th, I'll post this again, but nominations for the March themed month will begin on that date, and people will post them just like regular nominations.
Since 2 polls can't run at once though, the themed month "poll" will be post based, where people post the theme they're voting for, and those votes will be tallied.
-
I DEMAND a Nic Cage month. It's simply mandatory for themed movie months :P
-
@Cyan:
We also need to watch Heavy Metal and Robot Carnival at some point.
do yourself a favor and skip Heavy Metal
also might i recommend
-
Eeeehhh not sure what to think of a bad movie month… They have to be so-bad-it's-entertaining quality, not just straight-up bad. I wouldn't participate in sitting through two hours of crap if it doesn't even make me laugh. But if it's stuff like
@Kitsune:The Room.
then I'd be ok. Seriously though, I just learned about this movie days ago and saw a few clips and holy crap, how does someone let something like that get so awful?
I love how all the "funniest scenes" aren't intended to be funny. My favorite part is 2:38, Gets me every time.

I love Ghost Rider 2 simply for how ridiculous Cage's acting is in that movie. I almost wanna nominate it.

foodfight tho

I saw the trailer and at the very least, I was willing to forgive it's animation because I assumed it was a 90s or early 2000s film.
A quick wiki shows it was released in 2012…

And it had a budget of $45 million.

-
What in the world??
How is this even allowed to happen?
they were working on it for a long time, then the studio burned down or was robbed and they had to hastily rebuild everything from scratch. the film was sold to a new company that forced them to mocap the whole thing and put it out as fast as possible. i actually saved the original trailer with the original models
like it was originally bad to begin with, but having to hastily remake it with the worst mocap in existence just added a whole new layer to the shit cake
-
Also they got Charlie Sheen, Wayne Brady, and Christopher Lloyd somehow.
-
Call me crazy and painfully obvious, but I'd wager that those actors are where most of their budget went.

It was mostly getting the rights to use brandname products. I assume this because there's a whole ton of em.
Making of the movie probably costed like 50 cents. -

Making of the movie probably costed like 50 cents. That's true. And it looks like a good amount of companies backed out of having their products featured in the film some time during production given that the concept art has Cap'n Crunch, Froot Loops, Kix and other brands that, as far as I noticed, weren't in the movie which probably cost them a bit too. Though it's possible that they were planning on having those featured and just never got around to obtaining the rights or got rejected.
On a related note, I care entirely too much about things that don't matter.
-
Look at the promo poster or shall I say….the plug poster?
All of these mascots get cameo scenes and that's it!
-
ohoh, gremlins and zardoz are tied.
I don't want to watch Gremlins :( SOMEONE DO SOMETHING!
-

!
But yeah, hopefully someone breaks the tie before the vote ends. We'll probably have to do a coin flip or something to break it in the end.
Probably going to turn on multivote for the next poll, to see how that works out. I think it might help prevent ties in the future.

I can switch my vote from Gremlins to Zardoz if no one breaks the tie.

Hmm, alright. If it's still tied in the end, I'll apply your vote towards Zardoz.
(Thanks for volunteering. A coin flip would've sucked).

We as a forum already watched THE ROOM.
It led to a war between the mods, Zephos in charge, and crashed the site for a week.
We probably shouldn't watch that movie again.
Especially not on April 1.
-
And here I was trying to forget that day ever happened.
-
I would love to have a Documentary theme for a week.
-
C'moooooooon Gremlins…. one more.
-
I would love to have a Documentary theme for a week.
We'll watch Dear Zachary and cry like babies.

Just looked it up. I'll have to put that on my list of things to watch soon.

What's everybody's quality "preference"?
Some people have had issues with the stream running at 720p/1080p, so I don't want that to effect a ton of people's viewing experience when the stream happens.
-
The lower the best :ninja:
But as said before, if it's just me, I just download the movie and watch it simultanously to the stream. Others shouldn't suffer under bad quality cuz of one or two people.
-

As long as it's at least 480, I'll be fine, so yeah, Lower the better for people who need it
-
Movie Nights sound like an awesome idea. I'm definitely on board. I don't know if I can make it every week, but I'll join in when I can.
Is it too late to make a nomination for week 2?
-
Is it too late to make a nomination for week 2?
Yeah, it's due to the poll limitation being set at 18.
You'll be able to nominate for week 3 on Saturday though.
-

All right. That sounds good.
A lot of good choices this week, I'm stuck in a 3-way tie with who I'm going to vote for. It's between Brazil, Street Fighter, and Gemlins.

Zardoz .
Alternatively, Brazil.

Of the 3 you're on the fence about, only Gremlins has a chance of winning at this point. So that please. I really think the novelty of Sean Connery in a Unitard will wear thin really fast.
