GREETINGS EVERYONE!!
With Smash 4 upon us, it is finally time for us to gather around and get smashing! With that in mind, a number of us have been preparing and planning, and occasionally messing around with google docs, to bring you the Arlong Park Super Sm … what the banner says.
GENERAL INFO
! What's the plan?
Since Smash Bros. is one of those games that have limitless possibilities, we mean to take advantage of that to deliver as many fun experiences as possible, while also bringing out the competitive, ruthless Fox in all of us.
Because of this we decided that instead of settling for just one competition, we'd splurge and give you two instead. That means, that any point in time, there will always be constantly two ways to compete with your fellow pirate smashers. And we're modeling it according to the Wi-Fi lobbies. (Of course, if you like double-dipping feel free to participate in both!)
! For Fun!!
Tired of the Fox-only Final Destination matches? Need a little bit more Michael Bay in your Smash? Want to play in free for alls and teams instead of sticking to one-on-one action?
Then this will be your home. The plan for this ongoing competition is to do the best you can while also adhering to silly parameters we all come up with for the sake of frivolity. Maybe everyone is Ganondorf … maybe it's just a simple free-for-all. Any and all possibilities will be considered and every couple of weeks or so we switch it around to keep things interesting.
Purple Hermit will be providing a form/document in which to submit ideas for what you want to do next, and he'll be in charge of maintaining this in the post he hopefully claimed right below this one. Suggestions and complaints about this part of the tournament should be addressed to him.
! For Glory! For those of you whose fingers itch to prove themselves, who desire to show up to tournaments and smashboards ready to destroy and have heads roll, who wish to master their craft while working under the limits of bans and viability … this will be your arena!
As it is ongoing you can expect to get your fill of one-on-one battles with a standard ruleset based on whichever the standard ruleset is at the time (we'll keep this updated.)
Fox is not required.
Noqanky (that's me!) will keep track of this half and announce time-frames, updates to the rulesets, and manage results. Any suggestions or complaints about this part of the tournament should be addressed to her.
! What is the "tournament" like?
Also important to note is that, due to planning difficulties, it is not exactly viable to have tournaments in the traditional sense of the word. It takes too much planning and organization to get, say, 32 people to remain online for an entire day to take care of matches. Due to this, the tournaments will involve players challenging each other, submitting results and we'll maintain detailed records that will allow us to rank each participating player. At the end of a specific cycle (to be decided how long a time frame each cycle will be) we will award prizes to the top players, then reset and prepare for the next tournament. But don't worry, we'll keep records of each one so you see your performance from the very beginning until whenever this thread falls into the realm of the second page.
! Did you say prizes?
That's right! Practice and dedication should be rewarded, why not?
Our current plan is for prizes to be eShop titles/credit sent to the winners as a code to be redeemed. The higher you place, the greater the reward!
Demon Rin will be keeping up with announcing winners and rewards when the time comes. Because she's awesome, she's also taking care of all the beautiful banners you see around here and other artistic shenanigans! Hey, idk, maybe if you place well you could get something cool to show around … let her know if you have ideas regarding these topics!
