a noble turned commoner can become a shicibukai means that a noble who stays as a noble can be something more. stelly is kaidou, confirmed.
Chapter 760: The Same Stakes

-
This is an interesting possibility , but I think he'll run into Team 2 first. I have a feeling the remaining SH members will leave with either Barto's or Cavendish's ship, because I doubt the Sunny will just show up at the end of the Dressrosa arc, coincidently after the fighting is done.
Hence my theory of getting two nakama successively as Oda implied; i.e, Barto and Jinbe.
-
Great we would get two males, instead of finally a strong female . Come on, we already have enough sausages on that ship, lol. And I like both barto and jinbe, although jinbe is kinda boring when it comes to his personality.
-
@OPR:
To clarify, I personally never wanted Doffy to be "redeemed". However, I was expecting his reasons to be much more sinister. Basically, he's doing all of this to get back at the people who rejected him and denied him what's his by birthright. While this motivation is not as bad as my initial impression of it, is still lame compared to what his grand ambitions led me to believe his motivation would be.
I was expecting him to despise the Celestial Dragons for how petty, weak and dependent they're on others, and how entitled and cowardly they act. I was expecting Doffy to be discontent with the way the Celestial lived, and wanted to literally own the world with his own power, and through his own trusted subordinates. Evil, but not petty.
Anyway, the flashback isn't as bad as I initially deemed it to be, but I think it could've been better.
Doflamingo acted as though it was his god given right to have Dressrosa.
-
Y'know up close in fights like this Doffy's size just makes him look wonky.
It worked when he was standing next to pacifistas and bullying a gigant buttplug, but next to Luffy? Nah
-
Woa i didn't expect fujitora to have 'faith' in luffy..
What a short chapter, but still awesome ;; -
@'T€:

When was this? I keep hearing people say it, but I don't remember where it was stated. Care to share?
-
Wait wait wait. let me get this straight.
Doflamingos "Destroy Za Wurld!" ambition was motivated by…losing the lifestyle of extreme excess he had when he was a kindergardener? Seriously? I can barely remember stuff from before I was 8, and Doflamingo is still butthurt over it? I know stuff probably happened to him after being turned away from Marijois, but he still very clearly states that his villainous path was started by:
Doflamingo: Give me back the pimp lifestyle I had when I was 7, I want it RIGHT NOW because it is RIGHTFULLY MINE!
Nobles: No.
Doflamingo: Then I'll show you! I will DESTROY THE WORLD for this slight! JUST YOU WATCH!Well I certainly...didn't see that coming...
Also, I haven't the foggiest idea what Fujitora is doing.
Er, Jinbes coverstory is cool. -
It doesn't make sense that he would despise the Celestial Dragons when he's owning slave auction houses aimed for nobles, taking over and becoming king of lands that once belonged to his family and using CP0 to help him out with his schemes.
Stuff that you would expect from a World Noble.
Yeah, its just that would make for a far more interesting character than #DoflamingoProblems.
-

I know what you mean. That leg in the kick panel looks huge.
-
@zeff:
Why complicate stuff man? There's no 3rd brother.
When I clicked on the link I expected something with Luffy, Ace and Sabo. lol
-
Yeah, its just that would make for a far more interesting character than #DoflamingoProblems.
Man, what exactly in this manga made people think that he despised the noble lifestyle?
-
that escalated quickly , good chapter nevertheless i could come up with a few conclusions
- jinbei is with sanji and co right now
- doflamingo will be the first antagonist to die in the series
- luffy is gonna have a ridiculous power up
- i like fujitora more now
-

Kuja from FFIX comes to mind…
-
You know, i would have preferred if there was revenge for something more substantial involved. Like his was the most powerful family, but there was some kind of disagreement and other families turned against Donquixote and banished them from Marijeois, leaving them in poverty.
I realize it's a personal taste, but I think it would work a lot better than this.
Of course, we should reserve judgment before we get something more of a flashback. This seemed like a quick preview, almost like the one from Law with grenades earlier.
-

That would be great if Jimbei has already joined up with team 2.
Yeah Doffy has really got it coming.
Luffy is definitely due a power up, he still isn't being serious yet, Bellamy's death would make Luffy go postal.
Fujitora was just playing for time all along as Doffy's fall is in his own interest plus he is not allowed to touch Doffy himself. -

Never. Doffy cannot die. He's such a great villain, my favourite without a doubt, I'd like to see him forced out of Dressrosa as King, and be back out in the open sea, that'd prolly make him even more dangerous…..
-
It's curious that, for how entitled and spoiled he acts, he's actually fully aware that his worldview is totally biased, as given away by his Marineford speech. He just wants the good life, even if that comes from a biased worldview.
What's weird about the Marineford speech in retrospect is that he talked about kids either knowing nice things or terrible things and how that changes their perspective in life, yet Dofla, apparently, has known both extreme wealthness and extreme poverty, so. . .he kinda knows both sides of the coin, right? So, in his case, he's spoiled by conscious choice? "I know I'm spoiled, but I WANT to be spoiled"? Something like that?
We still gotta see how that ties with his, until proven wrong, genuine love for his current family, a bunch of misfits from all ages and conditions. That's not how super spoiled Celestian Dragons act, to befriend commoners and consider them "family".

Well since he is in fact working to establish a new world order, those closest junkyard kids that came up with him may fill the role as new "nobility".
-
When I first saw his childhood scenes I was pretty disappointed, but then it was really clear that we are gonna get more that go into better detail about not just Doffy but also how he gained his current crew and about their loyalty to him and why he actually seems to care. So while basically it just sounds like he was a spoiled brat that didn't get what he wanted all of a sudden and couldn't deal with that, there could be some damn good shit coming up. Although honestly, if he is just an asshole then I'm okay with that too. Sometimes its nice to feel absolutely zero sympathy for a villain hahaha
I'm also interested to see the differences between Doffy and Corazon since presumably they grew up in the same environment.
Doffy looks regular sized as a child as does the rest of his family. He must have had a crazy time growing during puberty.
-
@Bartholemew:
When I clicked on the link I expected something with Luffy, Ace and Sabo. lol
Damn, should have done that instead.
-
Koala and Sabo vs Burgess. It's now or never.
By the way I think the backstory was very funny. Doffy is a really weird dude. I don't know the story behind Corazon's death, but Law's grudge against Doffy can't be less justified than Doffy's grudge against World Noble.
-
Details aside it's a pretty standard i want my birthright deal.
Well it's more i want revenge vs the people that wrong me at this point than wanting back his birthright .
-
Even though I'm content with Dofla's motivation just being that he was en entitled brat who fell on hard times and clawed his way back, still there's probably more to it. Like his quote about "the weak being unable to choose how they die" from last chapter.
Perhaps having to struggle to live a modicum of the lifestyle of a Tenryubito made him see the real ones as weak and himself and his family as being strong - adding to his drive to destroy the world they claim to own. Perhaps.
-
I know you dont like to admit it, but deep down you can all empathize with Doflamingo just a little bit. Imagine being born in paradise amongst the wealthiest and most powerful, and then suddenly have all of that stripped from you (along with losing a parent)? most people would have trouble adapting…
-

Well, who would choose poverty over wealth?
-
When was this? I keep hearing people say it, but I don't remember where it was stated. Care to share?
Oda's interview with ChinaTimes: (Translation: Rio Poneglyph)
After hearing the journalist's guess about OP's ending that 'One Piece = Won Peace', meaning the treasure Luffy will finally find is world peace, Oda smiled and said 'Indeed, the name of One Piece does have something to do with the ending of OP, but I cant tell you the exact reason/clue, or it'd be meaningless.' Later, he said 'After 17 yrs, after more and more new characters being created in the story, I couldnt stop inspiration coming into my head. I think I can continue drawing for another decade. And there'll be new nakama, they will show up successively.' When talking about the creation and setting of Devil Fruit, Oda said it's inspired by Doraemon, all the inspriations come from daily life. E.g. Luffy's Gomu Gomu no Mi was created because I (Oda) was too lazy to move out of my seat to get something, it'd be great if I could elongate my arm. LOL. Oda also said he wants Robin's Hana Hana no Mi the most because he then could have many hands drawing at the same time. Besides, all the devil fruits that are eaten by female characters are relevant to women's daily requirements in real life, e.g. Alvida's Sube Sube no Mi and Miss. Valentine's Kilo Kilo no Mi. Oda goes to bed at 8 am, wakes up at 12 am, four hrs of sleep every day, he said it's really fine. -
People saying that Doflamingo is too powerful for Luffy to defeat doesn't realize that Oda has been doing this over and over?
-
Well, who would choose poverty over wealth?
plus it's not only wealth he lost but also power .
-
great chapter :D
fuji bets on luffy hehe
-
I still don't understand kun and San staff I mean you talk with someone higher than you you address him or her by San or senpai but now Koala does the opposite , I mean sabo is the second in commend and still treat like kun and whatsoever . What does it mean anyone please give me an answer
-
We've know that Jinbe has known about the alliance for 60 chapters now.
The panel of Jinbe seeing the news in chapter 700 is exactly this moment we are seeing now in his cover story. So that would mean it's fairly early in the day during Jinbe's story and he could already be on his way to help out the Straw Hats. If that is what he's intending to do.
GOD I LOVE JINBE!
-
Doflamingo, your past is kinda..
Well.. All I care about in this chapter is…
JINBE'S COMING!!! HOLY SH*T!!!! HE IS COMING!!!
-
You know, something I just realized:
Koala can touch Sabo even though he's a Logia.
-

He's not in fire form. Luffy was touching Ace just fine when they met.
-

Well, yeah, in order to greet Luffy, he had to become solid. Reasonable.
Here, Sabo is becoming solid… so Koala can mess up with his face. Reasonable?
-
I still was blown away by what happened to Doflamingo, i can see the criticism now i think about but it still was awesome.
Still i liked to have some more on this part of Doflamingo's story of course we still gonna get the part with Law and Corazon but this could have been so much longer if this was it.
-
Well, yeah, in order to greet Luffy, he had to become solid. Reasonable.

It's the same reason why Nami can "hurt" Luffy when she hits him for being stupid. Its supposed to be a joke.
-

I actually can to be honest. It would suck to have everything taken from you. Especially when you have so much to lose. I'd love to see a further look into his past. His reason is understandable enough, but I feel seeing the details would add to it. On a personal note, I grew up in a family that was loaded, because my great grandfather was in the military and started a chain of convenient stores. We used to get free stuff from the stores, but eventually it was just surpassed by Raceway and other convenient stores like that and we just live paycheck by paycheck now. Of course, I don't hold a grudge against anyone, though I do dislike government and the way it controls the world with money. I can get why Doflamingo became a pirate seeking freedom, family and smiles. Despite how much of an entitled brat he was as a child.
-

That would be coward move to use his logia powers to avoid getting scolded, plus since it's Koala then doing that could be considered gay as well. :)

Er, Jinbes coverstory is cool.I dunno, I feel like if we're 8 when our parents die, and then 10 when we kill our other parent, then those memories would stick with you pretty hard.
Doflamingo was a little kid that had God-Status taken away from him and he was forced to by his father to try to adapt unwillingly to a different lifestyle. That's super hard for kids, especially when what they're getting is a downgrade. I can totally see him becoming resentful about it, the fact that he was willing to kill his dad over it though shows that he's pretty messed up anyways. Thus revealing to us that Doflamingo is indeed pretty evil. There's no redemption here.
I think that's kind of the whole idea of the New World, the true villains here, there's no redeeming them. They already made it this far. Their dreams haven't been crushed. They're legitimately effed up people that pursue their goals for their own reasons. Doflamingo is harboring an intense grudge, one he's probably even blown out of proportion due to his memories probably being foggy.
Fuji seems clear here. He can't fight Doflamingo directly, but he can sure as hell claim he was held up by Sabo the whole time so that he couldn't help Doflamingo. It's a gamble that he's hoping Akainu and the World Gov't will believe.
(Also on Dofla, don't forget Law pretty much stated his whole reason for doing this to Dofla was because Dofla killed Corazon. To Doflamingo that is probably pretty weak shit since he killed his own dad and watched his mom die from disease.)

IT'S ALL HAPPENING BROS!!!!!!
I felt the exact same way , Ro.
Oda wouldn't have the timeline out of cohesion for Jinbe AND highlight it to the audience unless him finding out about the SH being on Dressrosa was gonna be important in some way very soon. I mean damn, the scene of him reading about the news was basically shown twice, when has Oda ever done that?
Also, his cover story kinda reminds me of the SH's separation covers.
-
I thought Law's powers would be useless against a logia since they can just put themselves back together…..i was wrong
-
Law is that Whitebeard level OP.
-
I thought Law's powers would be useless against a logia since they can just put themselves back together…..i was wrong
We already seen his powers work on smoker .
So instead of doing heart surgery he just doing diffrent type of surgery instead. -

This is becoming like Dragonball.

No way. If anything he'll run into Team 2 first and they head to Zo, or they're all already captured by Big Mom.

Hasn't he got something really important to do before he meets uo with the SH? I mean that was the reason why he declined the offer to join them back in FI.
-
Huh, I was expecting more to Doflamingo than just being a rotten brat.
Watching law fight is zzz
