How was your Day 2 (general chat)

Well, this week has definitely been a fun one.
I flew out to Michigan to meet some friends that I've known online for the past year or so. It was my first time doing something like this, but was definitely worth it in the end because of the all the fun things we did.
And now I'm on the plane back. Like always after a long trip, I'm going to miss being on "vacation" and am going to have to get used to some boredom again, for the time being.
-
I am pretty much bored to the point of insanity. I've spent the last year as a borderline-NEET after graduating high school. I briefly got a volunteering job at a book shop but I wasn't in any shape to work mentally. Let's hope life gets more meaningful after I find something to do - I've applied for a community college but even if I get in, it doesn't start until August. Not sure if I can handle another year of this…
Explore something you have a faint interest in. And also… Let's hope all of that NEET-ness gave you some insight into yourself.
Life gets quite weird at this point.
! This is anxiety-inducing but you have to keep at least one thing implanted in your brain when you get into college: Don't. Fuck. It. Up. That is your goal. Maybe you should look at that time before college starts as an opportunity; I certainly would if I could turn back time. College can be hellishly fun if you try to make it so and embrace opportunities, but you need to remember why you're ultimately there. Do all that is in your power to keep this opportunity at a certain standard that will make it do what it is meant to: develop you as a person, and give you more branches into the future. I'm currently in between semesters, and did not like my performance last time at all. I'm actually taking a break. I'm not going back until I feel more like I will be mentally powerful enough – mainly regarding consistency, an insanely important part of a good responsible adult. I've got a little more than 6 months, and I'm not accepting any less than 6 months of me demonstrating to myself that I can be a consistently responsible adult outside of college before I go back in. I'm almost there, but there's some tweaks I need to get down.
! I'd look at this time as an opportunity. Make sure you are ready. Start something and make consistent, daily progress on it. -

Bought a new laptop to replace my 4+ year old one with the blue lines and black-turned-red colors.

Semester is finally ovuh. Just waiting on (craptastic) grades to all come in. I got like 10 hours sleep max during finals week. Moved back home for the summer. Got time to kill before I head to Canada for July to mid-August.
I don't even know what to do with my spare time, I feel like a liberated soul. I've just been sleeping and eating and doing geek things for the past several days.

Hmm, got a bit of a somewhat rude awakening today about having other people help you with finding jobs.
Essentially, I'm Junior in Highschool and my mother told me that she has a friend who has a radio station that could possibly use some help; considering my aspirations for my career (film and animation as a writer, director, and voice actor) it's a hell'va lot more of an interesting job prospect than working at the local grocery store.
However, due to the amount of time she's taken to do so I'm getting some considerable pressure to either 'turn something up' or bite the bullet and forced to work at the local hick town supermarket. Not that that's an inherently BAD thing; but still I'd much rather have the job I want.
So, from this moment onward I'm going to have to be significantly more personally invested in getting his attention myself. Though in some way I'm glad for this 'push' because in all honesty I'm the kind of guy who'll get nothing done if someone or something doesn't hold my nose to the grindstone.
I'll post more about how it goes.
-
Well work got more interesting. The boat I'm on left a few hours ago to head to dock because of engine problems. It'll take at least 12 hours to get there, probably a few days of work to get everything done, and another 12 hours or so to get back out to where we need to be. That's three more days at least of no "work" for me (I get paid every day for being on the boat whether I'm actually working or not). This is added on to the last 4 days of not having worked already. Been able to spend that time playing Devil Survivor 2, Kirby Triple Star, and been studying for the GRE.
-
Ugh…..I have two finals today but I think I'm coming down with a cold. My throat's been sore for days and I'm a little congested.

Good news: I got into the community college.
Possibly bad news: They're not sure if they have a room available for me, which might mean I'll have to drag myself there from home every day (around 45 minutes by bus, but hey, could be worse). Some other news: I bought a new 3DS.

Congratulations :D I hope things go well for you. At least things are happening and moving somewhere, that's most important.
Hopefully the bus ride won't be a problem. I always love the longer bus rides, had 30 min to gymnasium and now 40-50 min to college depending on the traffic. Allows me to calm down, listen to music and just enjoy the ride. As long as it's one ride without a lot of switches, it should be fine. The worst case I've encountered was a classmate in gymnasium - she had two buses per day, one in the morning and one at 16:00. If she missed one she had to call the taxi.–----
On a personal note, I bought a bike some week ago. I haven't biked for years, it was amazing! A little worried since I'm living near the country capital of bike thefts, but there's no point being anxious about a theft that might or might not happen. On the other hand our mail box was wrought open last night. The mail was still left there, just fine, but it was a little unsettling. We've had construction workers in a poorly isolated apartment corridor as well, so my regular anxiousness is a bit higher than usual. I'll manage though, it isn't until summer that my anxious reaches... troublesome levels. I'll laugh it off until then, and I have a time with my counselor booked and no bad vacation planned. Maybe a few frogs, I wonder if they have frog invasion season here. And lizards. I loved playing with the lizards back home, but now they're gone.
But anyway, back to the bike, I was exploring the area with it and discovered that I can reach a nearby shop centre in 15 min! They even have takeout food, game stores and other fun stuff! Granted I can only bike with so much luggage and I'm out of shape, but still. There's also tons of rabbits, seen both numerous little babies (one was about as big as my hand) and even a hare! I've never seen hares before. You'd think moving from a village to a suburb would make me encounter less animals, but since they're so accustomed to humans here it's the opposite. The only things missing are a bigger variety of small birds and some deer.

I did it fairly often as well. However I rarely do/did it during the hours when trains are full :3

Ugh, this week sucked. Not only did i end up becoming so busy at my job to the point of having almost no energy to work on my projects or even do my chores at my apartment, but i also had multiple power outages for a few nights in a row due to the constant amount of severe thunderstorms we've been getting this week. On top of all that, i've been itching so much that i've barely had much sleep for the past few nights becasue of all the crazy amount of scratching. Not even the itch medicine helped. :(

Yes. For 4 weeks I'm on a boat, and I only work 6 hours each day, and unless there's paper work I need to do, the rest of the time is for me. Then I have 4 weeks at home, which is all free time. As for the 6 hours of working, sometimes I'll think of the post then type it down.

Work: Started working with photos of the 18th century, the second time I'm going to work with old stuff. I'm digitizing the pictures to put in the library collection. It will even have a white room with a prejetor, showing the photos in 360 degrees.
I suggested an exhibition of Pac-Man, and apparently, it will happen. Maybe I can put Mr Game&Watch in the expo.:ninja:
Tomorrow is the birthday of the museum, so is time to be happy.
Life: It's so nice to talk to a professional about your thoughts and feelings, it's like a huge weight had been lifted off my back.

Not sure where you live, so your opportunities will vary, along with what your background is (mainly what you studied in University). By job title is PSO (Protective Species Observer) and PAM Operator (Passive Acoustic Monitoring). I do work in the Gulf of Mexico and subcontracted through a company called RPS from the Houston office. They usually prefer someone with a biological science degree, but have hired other types of people before.
If you are interested, I would suggest looking up the job titles and finding places in the country/area you live in. Many places usually want citizens, so there is that to consider. If you have other questions you can PM me.

Franky Tank is actually Aquaman. or maybe Jotaro

That's insane. You did biological science in Uni I'm assuming?
-
Went to the museum birthday festival, to my surprise, they had a food truck selling caramelized rice <3 I bought some vinyl records, mostly tango bands. I want to learn some new songs in my accordion.
Edit: Things I forgot to say.
They also had a antiques fair, live music, a small cosplay contest and a handicraft fair, it was a fun festival, I like this small cosplay contests.
I started to play HearthStone, it reminds me of Magic the Gathering, but is hard to be a noob…But my friends are helping me build a decent deck.

That must get interesting during hurricane season.

I'd be closer to Aquaman. I get to listen to them during my work, but I can't communicate with them, and I don't understand what they are saying.
Funnily enough the only reason I came to like Jotaro was learning his eventual occupation.
@DHL:

Yes, I did a 4 year degree in Marine Biology, and I've been doing this for 2 years (tomorrow is exactly 2 years from doing my first offshore trip.
That must get interesting during hurricane season.
If a Hurricane is going to come through, the boat will head to an area where the hurricane won't hit. After it passes through we then go back. So at most it causes a few days of down time.
The crazier stuff happens with coming back to shore, especially if you don't do it during a normal crew change. Yesterday I got off, but the boat taking me back to shore didn't arrive till 10am, instead of 6am like it was supposed to. They had to bring supplies to a different boat nearby first, and that ended up taking hours. Didn't head to shore until 4:30pm. Got to the dock at around 10:30 PM, and because of various stuff, I had to wait until 12:15am this morning to get picked up. Didn't get to the hotel until 1:45 this morning, which I had to leave the hotel by 7am to get to the airport. After delays, I finally landed back home at 11 this morning. All in all, for what I get paid, not much to really complain about. Back home safely and now have some time off.

No, I flew from New Orleans to Bush in Houston. Thankfully I missed all the bad weather so I didn't have to worry about cancelled flights.

With so many old photographs to digitize and restore, I don´t have time to be aware of the museum's news. I found out that they will put arcades machines on display, they will do a little competition of Pac-Man. The exposition is going to be about 80´s video games, with others arcade games.
People are calling it the geek museum.:ninja:
And boy, restoring old photos is just like a surgery…one mistake and it´s over.. Or worst, work with movie reels, that any moment they might explode.
I am happy though, I am working full time in the library. It is not that I hate the museum, but I like the library atmosphere, especially a technical library as this one.

After 2 weeks of struggling to breathe properly when lying down,
swelling in the legs and balls due to liquid build up,
and completely losing his appetite, becoming weaker and weaker,My Dad has finally been able to see the doctor, and we found out he has heart failure.
Now he's been admitted to hospital where they've told him his heart is enlarged,
his kidneys are messed up and need flushing out, and the drugs he's currently on aren't doing jack.
This is on top of the diabetes he already has, and his irritable bowels.I hope they can sort him out soon, I'm really worried for him. He doesn't deserve this shit.
When I hugged him goodnight yesterday, he said "I can't go on like this, I need help…" and it shook me.
Please get well soon, Dad. -
Job: I might have posted about my situation in the library, that the head librarian will retire at the end of this year, and that there is three persons that she selected to be her successor in the job (me and two others), so….I have good news, one of them quit his job, so is just me and other guy.
Ha, one of the museum staff said "How about we put the Pac-man soundtrack on loop at the expo ?", I said "Of course not, we don´t want a massive headache in the museum."
Life: Time to see some old friends...Let´s see how things works.
And maybe I get a tattoo.

Good lord, this week sucked for me so far. First the shifts of my co-workers got moved over to the afternoons, leaving me doing the work all by myself in the morning. At Tuesday, there has been a mix-up in a personal matter that left me a little too aggravated to do my job which fucked everything up and left the parking lot in a complete disarray. At Wednesday, my belt broke and i was unable to afford a new one at the time so i take the time to fix it which was a pain in the ass. At Thursday, I found a dead kitty while i was doing my usual shopping cart round ups which left me very disturbed, not to mention that suffered a bit of a heat stroke and heartburn simultaniously latter that day which left me unable to work for the rest of the shift.
I just pray to god nothing bad happens today. :(

I too, hope your father gets well soon. Fingers crossed. -

And to top it of the restaurant where i did my apprenticeship gave me a Victorinox knife set worth $160 as a graduation gift

About my life, I am going to another concert of classical music tomorrow with my father. Another thing, I am practicing some tangos from Astor Piazzolla in my accordion.
-
What pieces are you learning, Ugly? I don't know a whole lot of Piazzola, but I love what I've heard.
-
@Kubihige: Libertango and Verano Porteño. I know they are hard to play, but I grow up listening to Piazzolla.
Maybe I should start practicing with "easier" tangos ? ahahaha.
Edit: Just got back from concert. My dad surprised me. He said that the concert would be a medley of well-known classical music (Rachmaninov, Mozart, Beethoven, Bach..Those guys).
But when I saw the booklet, I was surprised to know who was the conductor, none other than João Carlos Martins. But the surprises didn't stop there, they played Libertango and "
" at the end, the audience sang along.Great.
-
I think I've had enough literature for a while. In at least 3 languages. And it's not over yet~
-
Outerspec… Silver R. Bolt... King Cannon... I give up, who are the other new red stars?
-
IT'S NOT APRIL 1ST
what's going on -
:O
Well that solves one question… but raises two others

Can I just say that you're the most cultured person on AP?
Fascinating library career, going to classical Music concerts, and you play accordion?Honestly you've got a fascinating life, almost like a character out of a book yourself.
-
Congrats to our new red stars!
–
Was out biking and exploring when I stumbled upon a Game store, and turns out the whole brand has been forced to close and they're having a gigantic 40%-50% sale on everything! My game library has been expanded thoroughly. Also bought some cover plates only to discover they're for the new 3DS, so some wasted money there. Not a big loss though. Almost tempted to pick up one of the consoles or any of the older games for sale.
I've added three new bird sightings to my list. Haven't been able to identify any of them yet, but I think I recognize one and another I'm almost certain was a Nightingale. Almost biked over a fuzzy little baby bird, the poor thing, had to chase it into the bushes. Add to that a crow without a tail, and a young Magpie. And for the first time I've heard some frog songs! Edible Frogs. Not very beautiful and they keep croaking with everything they got in the middle of the day, but still a fun occurrence.
-

Thanks, but I don't deserve this, I don't do nothing "star worth", I just post.
And also, I make a awesome quiz game. Can I just say that you're the most cultured person on AP?

I can´t say I am that cultured, I still have to learn about a lot of stuff. But thanks anyway. Now stop that..I am getting awfully blush, so much that I will turn in to a tomato. And Captain Tomato is not a good forum name, maybe for a tomato sauce mascot. But not for AP.Job: Two thousand 18th century photos to restore and to digitize, we already did one thousand, wow… It Is almost over. How did we get these photographs ? you ask..It was a donation of the descendants of the Brazilian Royal Family.:ninja:
And we already did the order for the T-shirts, now, we just have to wait for them to arrive.
Life: My mother is feeling better, she even made a doctor appointment to cure the cataract in her eyes. About myself ? Listening to some Stan Getz and playing HearthStone, it reminds me of Magic the Gathering.
In the weekend, my father is going to make a small show in a bar, he is going to play Stan Getz, and he invited me.
Edit: With the current death of Christopher Lee, the museum staff decided to make a section of movies dedicated to him, LotR, Dracula, 007 and others are in the list..And guess who made this suggestion ? :ninja: Not this weekend though, it's Valentine's Day in Brazil, so they decided to make a "couples in crime" movie section.
