If nothing else, it's interesting that Hori is continuing with 'usually heroic things, but instead villains are doing them'. In the last arc, we had the villains using the power of friendship and teamwork. Here, the villain is literally being given a boost by the power of love.

Yeah I think it's a platonic type of love, which escapes being creepy for now. I see it as a familiar type of relationship. Actually could go pretty creepy directions if not handled carefully.
La Brava is like a better version of the poodle Oumagadoki character, looking for love and acknowledgement. I love the fact that the power of love quirk is used for a villain. What a cool/interesting concept.
Until this chapter I was giving her the benefit of doubt that she was not a kid. But now I'm unsure how much time passed between her Jr. High days and finding Gentle.
Deku's fighting is getting more interesting. Next time he fights with Bakugou that should be an amazing fight.

Dang, It's amazing what this series can do with Deku's quirk when it's literally just super strength and speed, that bank shot was great. Also, I kind of wish Gentle's Gear Second aura had more smoke hearts, lol.
I liked the chapter, but La Brava´s quirk is a little weird, a simple boosting/doping quirk wouldn´t be weird, but the requirement and the use of the word "Power Level" threw me away a little.

I would bet money that Horikoshi included LB's "Year Book" in that one panel very much on purpose to indicate that she's an adult (it sticks out like a sore thumb, jutting out like that). The drastically longer hair between middle school and sitting-alone-in-the-dark scene also indicates major passage of time. Her apartment (with the stacks of books and empty shopping bags) doesn't seem to indicate a kid living with parents (it's the quintessential trope living space for young NEETs, like in Welcome to the NHK and so many other series; traditionally, mothers/housewives are always cleaning the house, which is why Japanese school-age kids have spic and span rooms).
Most of all though, MHA is wayyyy too valuable a property for Shueisha to even give the impression of pedophilia! I doubt anyone on Japanese boards is bringing it up, because the context clues are just that clear.

Okay cool. I saw the year book but that only told me she was out of Junior high. I got a year book in elementary school so it wasn't a huge solid point to me. Deku even calls her miss? So maybe she "in universe" reads as an adult.
I don't think that Hori, a man still haunted by this previous cancellations, you include a pedo relationship, especially after Watsuki case.

Also like I pointed out when they first appeared, the duo is visually reminiscent of Black Jack and Pinoko (I think that would be something the average Japanese media-consumer is likely to note?).
Pinoko is mentally 18 years old (physically, 2, since she was a weird parasitic twin tumor), and she's like 2 feet tall (and made of plastic, so she won't grow). Meaning, "bizarrely tiny female who's actually an adult" isn't completely out of left field.

I'm glad other people are on the side of sanity, but this still undersells it imo!
The reddit person's theory suggests that she dropped out of middle school the day after getting rejected by the boy, sat around in her room in the dark, and immediately discovered Gentle (at age 13). But nowhere does it say she dropped out of school. The "ever since then" refers to "not believing in anything," not the "glued to my computer day after day" part.
Also, her hair growth alone proves otherwise! It grew about 2 feet between those two distinct flashback scenes, which is 4 years' worth of growth, making her 17 at the bare bare bare minimum when finding Gentle's vid, and 23 in the present day (when they have a romantic relationship).
I'd argue even older, because my instinct is that the yearbook is meant to be a high school yearbook, plus the whole NEET/hikikkomori thing.
For better or worse, we'll probably find out their ages in volume 19 when G + LB get character profile pages.
Damn, they took three of the most cancerous components of an anime episode ( filler + recap + pool episode ) and turned it into something entertaining and charming. The recap parts were by far the worst, but still, this episode is a strong start to the season.
Aw, the first episode was a recap. I'm not sure about the opening. The song feels wierd in terms of how it flows and the instrumental is wierdly incomplete.
It's all also really awkwardly edited together.
The opening was terrible. The visuals and song don't feel like they match and the song sounds unfinished. Uverworld usually make good tracks but damn this one sounds like garbage.
Yeah I agree about the opening. The first three were amazing, this is a big downgrade unfortunately. Then again, I didn’t particularly care about them at first. But I don’t see the new one growing on me like they did.
Yeah all previous three eventually grew on me, but I don't see it happening with with this one.
Least the opening was pretty to look at, but compared to the others, especially thw third, the music just did not match the animation.
The opening´s visuals are fine, but the song doesn´t really stick well with them. I really liked all Tomura´s scenes on it, the one with him and the noumus is pretty damn creepy.
On the other hand I am worried about Muscular, I didn´t really like how he looks in the opening.
Yeesh, yeah, this opening is a miss. There was pretty much no coordination between the music which, lacking a strong beat under it for large parts of the song, would have been better served by an emotinal, poignant opening, and the opening, which lacked flow and relied too much on out of context action shots and generic group shots.

I'm pretty much in agreement with the sentiments here. Opening visuals were great and the song was decent, but they weren't lined up well and made it a drag to watch.
Throwing in another comment about the wonky opening. I'm not sure if I'd like the music by itself or the visuals. But combined is just bad. Hopefully the season split with have something more fitting. I do like the end theme though with the pencil drawings.
I like what they did with the trope of a pool/beach episode. Girl's dignity still in tact, and doesn't feel wildly out of place between the last episode and this one. Next episode seemed to have some nice key shots with the Pussycats.
The song is fine, and the visuals are fine… but yeah, they did not coordinate at all to get those things to synch up.

This opening probably had the best visuals of all of them (except for the shot with all the heroes and teachers, which also was pretty random), but, even though the song is okay, we all agree it didn't fit the animation. Sigh…
! Well, atleast I hope there'll be updated visuals for this opening which would be nice, and I think that'll be the case since there's a shot with Deku and All Might sitting in a bench and that's inspired by the color page of the aftermatch against AFO
