Now, here's a little something to start off 2014: the One Piece 30 Day Challenge! I've seen this on Tumblr before, and thought it would be fun to have here, too. Each day, I'll post a question from the list and then you can give your answer. If you miss a day or so on, and wanted to say something for it, that's fine. So without further ado, let's begin!

Day 1: Favorite Straw Hat Member
This is a tough one, since I like all of the crew members fairly equally, but I'll go with Usopp on this one. He's a pretty relatable character, being as even though he's a bit of a coward, his courage shines through when a friend is in need. Also, he can be pretty funny!

Akainu. He gets shit done, love to hate him. Arlong and Spandam get honorable mentions here. Seeing Robin break Spandam's spine was great.

Kizaru. I liked him from the minute he was introduced for being so goofy and nonchalant about everything.

In any other series, he'd probably be on the same team as the heroes, which really makes him more of an antagonist than a flat-out villain. Still…he's my pick.

Enel, or Eneru, or Eminem, whatever you want to call him.

The dude was unstoppable at that point in the story and no one on Skypeia besides Luffy had a chance in hell against him. Even if he fought against a Haki user, he'd still be a really tough opponent.

Plus, his laugh is epic.

Casting my lot for Enel! There was something really refreshing about his relaxed and hedonistic lifestyle. The way his character was developed was a nice change of pace from what we'd grown accustomed to from villains up to that point in the narrative. He wasn't just another loudmouthed, eccentric blowhard. He was unflinchingly confident and refined.

Doflamingo is a close second; brilliantly developed thus far!

Yup, I'm in agreement on Enel. I'd have to say he's my favorite major villain for that reason, and it was ever so satisfying watching him get his ass beat by Luffy.

Some type of thread like this will surely come up again where I'll get to answer this question, so I'll say that I would have put Doflamingo, except for the fact that we're in the middle of his arc and I want to see exactly how he's handled.

For now, it's Akainu. A wall of rigidity that has the means and ferocious desire to shape the world, and more personally for us, pursue Luffy with intent to kill. Akainu doesn't so much "kill" though as I'd say he eliminates. He can and does eliminate people - often undeserving - in horrific ways that can leave no trace of life, he eliminated Luffy's spirit completely (temporarily - still a huge feat), and he seems to slice through the story protection that the good guys usually have. He also even changed our main character's appearance forever. With someone like Crocodile or Enel, I sit back and enjoy their villainy. Akainu gets me emotionally invested and makes me despise him, like some of his fellow Marines.

The fact that he's Fleet Admiral and the methods he's been known to employ lead to something a decent portion of us wanted, One Piece becoming even darker. The hard-lined face of Akainu looms over the world, displeased at all the unwanted grime, and he's coming to scrape it off.

Black Leg

It's a toss up between Arlong and Crocodile for me. I'll go for that detestable blue bastard with the cool hat.
