For me the gas is the same issue as the daylight was on TB:
it is a "dead end"-factor that gives this arc a time-limit. We will see what Franky does when those 20 minutes are over (since we don't know where he is right now, I assume he will solve this problem. Aside from CC Franky knows VP's works the best. Though IDK if the original gas wasn't only CC's work).

The fact that a person is a child is not an obstacle to join a pirate crew. Look at the small girl in Doffy's crew or Miss GoldenWeek (though she didn't know she was workin for a Shichibukai).
A bigger reason why Momo can't join the crew is that he - just like his dad - is no team player. He is more the "lonesome wolf" type, but so was Zoro b4 he joined Luffy.
It'd be cool if Monet sumhow redeems herself in the future. She said sth like:"If I don't do my job well, Joker will kill me!" I wonder how she reacts when the "Doffy-threat" is gone. And I'd have loved Robin VS Monet: both have sth like wings.

It would imply that Caesar actually competent in DF field. Well, he can feed fruits to inanimate objects (but everyone can do that if knows how), and can bring them back (but that's probably natural process).
Now I actually doubt his ability to invent something that doesn't involve his own power.

Really? I don't think he'd be the (previous) 2nd leading scientist for the world government if he wasn't somewhat close to Vegapunk.
He's already shown he knows a thing or two about devil fruits - experimenting on his own, compressing gas into a slime and feeding it a devil fruit and then reverting it back into a devil fruit (which was a shock itself).
If he was a rival to Vegapunk and trying to prove to the world government that he was better than him, I think there's a pretty good chance he's tried to make his own devil fruits.

Also, there's been a few cases of his gas causing hallucinations - first Brownbeard's crew mate, the kids, and now after eating a failed devil fruit Momonosuke starts hallucinating Doflamingo.

What if he's trying to make devil fruits for Doflamingo and injecting his gas into them like the candy?
With his ability he already controls their body, and with the fruits he gives people he controls their mind.
It would work well with new recruits, give them a devil fruit to join and they're completely loyal.

Well, surfacing upon the water level should be no problem. The real problem is the distance to Sabaody Mangroves. Only in that climatic zone the bubbles are stable enough to coat a ship with it or to use stuff like Bon-Charies (Hachi explained to the SHs that they shouldn't buy Bon-Charies but rent them cause they only work in the SA-clima-zone).

Exactly. He is mass destruction specialist. Genius level mass destruction specialist. All his creations involve injecting gas into something, or compressing gas,or anything else gas. Many people can feed fruit to object, you don't need to be scientist to do that, apparently. And we don't know for sure whetherit's Caesar's doing, or fruit got back into apple cause fruits always travel into nearest one. (Not his achievement again). So i somehow can't see him excel another scientific fields, and invent something that isn't a poisonous death.

This implies that at some point Doflamingo has met Kinemon, so we can also assume that by extension he has met Momonosuke.

So Momonosuke decided to seek him out to confront him so that he could regain his family's honor but at the same time he is scared shitless of Doflamingo. If Luffy were to hear such a story then there is our emotional connection to Doflamingo vs Luffy.

! very good chapter…the story was taken into the fights where it would likely end the arc now...interesting revelations.
! POINTS:
! 1. liked luffy and momonosuke's interaction..that conversation is funny as hell and the emotional investment had been tackled, so its a really good thing.
2. momonosuke hallucinating and seeing doflamingo being nice to him was confusing...
3. loved the color spread...robin and nami got the coolest costumes and zoro as well.
4. ceasar is the sickest villain in the series....
5. smoker proving his VA level strength...though he wa pretty beat up as well...looks like a back and forth fight.
6. i wonder why ussop and brook was ordered by robin to get kairouseki chains...its pretty obvious but still you have to wonder why.
7. monet is just evil....the "dont interfere" panel nailed it.
8. zoro fighting finally. i like the matchup.
9. synthetic devil's fruit....wow.
10. 20 minutes left...things will get more interesting now, all of them will meet at R-66 along with baby 5 and buffy i presume.
11. this just reminds me of sanji not being seen for few chapters in CP9 saga....franky will do something to save the day.
QUESTIONS AND PREDICTIONS:

1. to me, it seems that momo's goal connects to doflamingo's defeat and his reason for boarding the ship…his "there's something i need to get absolutely done" and him being scared shitless of doflamingo's apparition (but doflamingo being nice) seems like to have a connection. though its just a hallucination from hunger, you could assume that he encountered doflamingo already.

something like, doflamingo actually entered the wano kuni and became friendly with him and kinemon, then in the end doflamingo stabbed them in the back...reason why he boarded the ship to look for doflamingo to either get something back from him or defeat doflamingo...then of course kinemon followed him and the rest is history.

! 2. robin asking for kairouseki…because of kidnapping ceasar plan?
! 3. will zoro use the "hardening" stuff too as against monet?
! 4. some questions and ideas had been raised in my mind regarding the man-made fruits...ill throw some random ideas, correct me if wrong.
! a) devil fruits have swirls and synthetic ones appears to have circles...maybe just one giveaway traits for it? then i assume the weird effects would be random...like zoan being unable to turn back to human, logias getting tangible etc.
! b) which brings me to an idea, are the devil fruit of the lower order (example: fire fruit that is lower than magma fruit) actually synthetic devil fruit as well.
since i thought it was actually kinda weird that the place where aokiji fought and lose...with a mad scientist on it (and vegapunk's second in line) will produce a snow fruit that basically came from nowhere (monet not having wings before, maybe no ability before as well?????)
would it be plausible if im thinking that the lower versions of the fruits are synthetic ones? i mean, tried to be duplicated and failed and became just a notch lower than the original fruit? (magma, ice)

hmmm....something just came randomly to me...what if baby 5 is from the wano-kuni and closely related to kinemon and momonosuke.....

doflamingo got permission to enter wano-kuni since he was friendly with the people there at first, befriending kinemon and momonosuke....then doflamingo showed his true colors and abducted baby 5....reason why momonosuke went out and tried to get baby 5 back from doflamingo.

then of course kinemon came looking for him.

It's possible, but they have to coat the ship before they go underwater, so i don't think being on the surface creates that problem, maybe the motion of breaking the surface does. Using the times in Sabaody isn't really useful since the bubbles can only "survive" in the atmosphere at SA, but it would seem useless if you have to sail all the way back there to get your ship coated again, I figured once you're equipped with the technology, you have to re-apply the coating, but it's like changing a tire on a car ; you don't have to remake the entire frame.

Momo is a little badass. The conversation was hilarious, even if the whole scene was a little too predictable.

Caesar is an amazing villain, nothing much to add. He is easily in my top 5 after this chapter.

Good boy, Smokey. Someone already said it, but it really seems that he is dominating. Vergo is obviously putting up a fight judging by Smokers forhead, but the silly hype around him should be over at this point. No heart, no game, eh?

Sanji kicking the G-5 to safety. It seems Oda found his balance again, please keep it up.

So Monet is a logia, and no, nothing was "obvious" until this point. Unless someone transforms or is called a logia, there is simply no proof.

Don't know what to think of the upcoming fight. Obviously Robin isn't allowed to get a proper battle, I should have known. Instead she is reduced to getting Zoro a ~~sandwich~~ seastone cuff. Seriously not liking that.

On the bright side, Zoro will finally do something after 20 panels of stupid grins and Kinemon fanboying, and I like that Monet turned out to be a real threat in the end.

Well, maybe fighting a snow enemy he would make a good use of Kinemon's ability to produce fire with his sword.

The problem here is that the 'frame' that surrounds the ship is the resin coating, not an additional equipment.

From when they left SA, we see there is an airbag that kept the ship afloat after the coating,
Yes, they would still have the airbag, but its not helpful here as it does not cover the ship. The coating is where there is a problem. Just because Franky is a shipwright, doesn't mena he can do the job of a coating engineer. The first time they were in SA Ray-san says there has to be an expert to coat the ship. This is re-inforced twice after the timejump.
1- When the ship Zoro accidentally boarded comes back up one persona sked if it was coated incorrectly.
2- After the Sunny's coating was ruined when they enterd the Fishman Island's double bubble wall, it was Den that said he would re-coat the Sunny. That indicated Franky cannot performa re-coating.

Beyond that , its that resin coating, not equipment, is what creates the bubble, which we know won't work above water away from SA. That is what caused the coating on Whitebeard's ships to bust. It worked as they stayed underwater until they reached Marineford, once they surfaced away from mangroves that create the resin, bubble is busted
(I'm assuming there may be a simalar mangrove on New World side for them to get coating before reaching SA),

I mean, he really gives me that idea of coolness the Strawhats have. He's an awesome samurai kid that excaped from home for some honor reason, I guess, and who ate the first human-made devil fruit we ever heard of. And he's a freaking asian dragon. It's perfect. We don't have a kid in the crew (now Choppa is a teenager), nor someone who can fly (Robin's 5-seconds flight doesn't count). And although he looks like a swordsman, like Zoro and Brook, by being a samurai, maybe he doesn't rely on the sword. I mean, an unsual samurai will be cool, right? All bushido and zen attitude, but no weapon.
So, yeah, maybe this is not even the right thread where to post this, but I'll really like Momonosuke to join.

Why would he have it if he isn't gonna use it? Some characters have weapons and only use them occasionally, but if he's just a kid, why would he be carrying a weapon if he isn't at least somewhat skilled with it, and why wouldn't he use it if he's skilled with it? Not trying to down your theory, but it just doesn't make sense to me.

Maybe he just took one of his father's swords to have some kind of weapon. And if he's stuck as a dragon, he probably can't use it anyway.

I think Mihawk took his eye so Zoro could focus better. Now his eyes don't get in the way of each other.

As for Momonosuke being blacked out.. well it's obvious he's clad in armament haki. Duh.

Yeah Doflamingo I think is the direct reason for Momonosuke's quest. Aside from the hallucinating his image, Caesar said he got the ok from Joker to kill Fox Fire Kinemon. Of course that isn't definitive but it does lead one to believe that Doflamingo already had a history with Kinemon before he reached the island.

Man I'd love for Jinbe to help out with the Doflamingo battle, if only to see his ugly mug again before Whole Cake.

Fire isn't really of "lower order" than magma. Magma may be considered stronger but fire isn't just a weaker version. It has it's own strenghts and weaknesses. How would Ace get his hands on a synthetic devil fruit anyway?

Are you trying to say that it's weird that a snow logia happens to be on an island that's half snow? Maybe Monet being snow is the reason Doflamingo sent her there.

Ceasar doesn't seem to be involved in devil fruit research. The dragon fruit was Vegapunk's creation. And, again, snow isn't a weaker version of ice. Admittedly ice and snow are almost the same but they do have differences.

This is 密航, which is stowaway.

密航 is not used for smuggling of goods, it's literally a "secret passanger".
密輸 is smuggling of items and goods, and literally "secret porting of goods".

The two words come from 秘「密」裏に「航」海する　and 秘「密」裏に「輸」送する

I was actually surprised to read "was smuggled" in CCC´s translation since i remembered your summary in the spoiler´s thread. While your translation suggests that he chose to board the ship himself, CCC´s translation suggests that he was taken, at least that is how i understood it.

There's no "Japanese doesn't indicate passive of active" involved in this case.
The active portion is included in the word "mikkou shita（密航した）", an act of stowing away.

There are cases of translations being open to interpretation. But this just isn't one of them.

Will that work against zoro, in a not too spacious room? He does have pretty wide range of attack. he has lots of ranged attacks, for example his tatsu maki+enhanced version and his pound cannons
