Ao-kiji has no evident goals that parallel Luffy's nor a tragic past or any of the other tropes commonly associated with Straw Hat members. So there's absolutely no precedent for him joining other than wishful thinking/fan wankery. Saying Ao-kiji will join at this point is akin to saying Woop Slap will.
But that's not what makes it impossible. What makes it impossible is that Ao-kiji is a former admiral. I don't see how you can't understand how much the power scaling in One Piece would be royally fucked after having one of the strongest men in the world suddenly join the Straw Hats. He is the type of man (strength wise) that Luffy is aiming to be, not an underling.
Do you think Shanks will join? He's got more in common with Luffy than Ao-kiji. Garp retired too, he's perfect Straw Hat material!!

I've read OP forums for years. Trust me, I've seen so many theories that defy logic and reason that calling them stupid is an understatement. Truth is, not many theories end up being plausible, and the worst part is that people don't learn. Take the "next female for crewmember" for example: many times, as soon as a female character appears, endless fantards theorize how she will be the next nakama despite the logic of the story showing otherwise, and MANY times they've been proven wrong, yet the cycle repeats itself.

It's pretty obvious that raftel has a lot to do with the void history, and Robin knows this too. Think back the Gold Roger's message on the bell-fry, and Rayliegh's words to her.
And we don't really know what Ao-kiji's motives at this point. He left the marines only because he didn't want to serve under Sakazuki. Implying he might have had some sort of tacit consent about the WG's past. OR he was just completely ignorant (which seems unlikely). Maybe he will try and uncover the past, but that's pretty weak speculation (at this point) and doesn't serve as a good basis for a potential crew-member at all. Not that it makes any sense that an admiral would join a bunch of NW rookies to do so in the first place.
Keep in mind that we haven't seen anything to suggest that anyone other than Robin, like Ao-kiji!- knows about the potential secrets that raftel has. If he were so diametrically opposed to the marines he would join the revolutionary army.

Strong as he is Luffy would still lose badly against Ao-kiji. This dude permanently changed the weather of half an island. Having someone that strong with them would mess up the whole crew dynamic and would mean smooth sailing until they hit people like the Yonkou or Aikanu. Why do I even have to say this.

No. For one, BB did not "eat" another DF. he asorbed the power from Whitebeard without EATING a second DF. That is how Oda got around the whole thing he said at another point of they can not eat a second DF without the person trying to exploding.
Its speculated that BB used the Darkness DF effect of gravity to asorb the aura of Whitbeard's DF. Since Luffy doesn't have the that ability, he cannot asorb another.
Besides why would Luffy want to COPY the guy that was responcible for Ace's capture that led to his death?
My point was not to excluding strange plausibilities early on in the story, before we know future plot twists, as there may be things that now seem totally implausible right now, may not seem so bizarre in les say 200 chapters in the future. Oda is well know for unexpected turns of events in his stories. Personally I think Aokiji is not going to join, nor I think it would be good idea. He certainly is not going to turn out any time now saying "Hi, can I join?" - that's stupid hypothesis. Saying Aokiji will join based on fact we don't know at this point in the story and events that are going to occur in the future -that does not seem likely, but saying it's implausible is equally ungrounded as saying there is hight possibility for it to happen. Don't take it personally, though, after all great minds are only wrong when they claim something is never going to happen.
