However I could bet anything that Jinbro gets 10, as for the others you mention, yeah if they get numbers far away from the SH's that definitely will mean something.

This is why I want people to agree to it before hand, so that when said character doesn't get that number, and said posters go back to rooting for them for "Reasons" saying stuff like it's not cannon etc. even though if it had been the opposite way and they did get those numbers they'd be shoving it in our faces, we can at least call them out on their bullshit

I don't know the scheduled dates of the packs, but I know that they are alternating between old arcs and post-Sabaody arcs, like Artur has posted on the other topic:

BP2: (Supernovae) "Bege, Bonnie, Kid, Apoo, Drake, Urouge, Killer, Law, Rayleigh, etc…"
BP3: (Arlong Park) "Nami, Arlong, Tashigi, Smoker, Dragon etc…"
BP4: (Impel Down) "Pacifista, Akainu, etc…"
BP5: (Alabasta) "Chopper, Dr. Kureha, Vivi, etc…"
BP6: (Whitebeard Pirates) "Whitebeard, Marco, Ace, Sabo, etc…"
BP7: (Baroque Works) "Crocodile, Nico Robin, Bon Clay, etc…"

As you can see, Bonney will come soon (BP2), and Kinnemon will probably arrive in BP12 or BP14 (don't know when is that, though)… but we're far from Carrot and Pudding, especially because some arcs may need multiple packs, like Dressrosa.

All that said, if the next Strawhat is already an existing character in the story, but their card comes before their time joining the crew, I'm not sure if Oda will want to spoil the information with their number.

Oh I agree, but I'm pretty certain the last crew member will be someone who hasn't shown up yet, which means oda won't be spoiling anything if those guys aren't the next crew mate

all he'll be destroying is people's fantasies about those particular characters

and I doubt oda reads threads to see who's debating which characters will join, I doubt he cares about squashing someones dreams of carrot joining

Regardless, even more important is the following: even if you are sure that the next Strawhat hasn't shown up yet, you shouldn't take that as an absolute truth and consider the possibility that, if the character is already a known face, Oda may not spoil him with his number... so you can never be sure.

Oh I didn't mean to act like I was 100% certain that we haven't met the character yet, it's just my opinion, I could tots be completely wrong and have missed all the signs, I didn't mean to come off like an arrogant jerk

It's just what I'm thinking, hell even in the case with carrot who I don't think will join, there's at least some chance, and I actually really like her as a character, I'd be upset about being wrong but then I'd get over it because we have a badass Bunny girl tomboy in the crew

Obviously not, that makes zero sense. If they get 10, 11, yes, it means they are joining, but the opposite is not true unless it is revealed those numbers are being kept for the future SH - which I find REEEEEALLY unlikely.

Jinbe getting 10 is perfectly possible since it is all but set in stone he is a SH, but within one year we'll mostly get the cards for every character revealed so far and obviously Oda is not going to go "oops, I am so secretive about the SH, but for the sake of keeping the book in proper order I had to spoil everyone and have Perona card being 11. Can't trigger my OCT."

As long as it remains clear that a character gets one number only, I don't see why I can't agree to this, personally speaking. It really depends on where Jinbe is placed, because him not being #10 at some point is out of the question. But he could be placed among the ID or FI cards with either 10 or a temporary number, or not given a card at all to keep it vague. So unless we get something clearly disproving the number theory, I for one will accept your terms.

Jimbe will definitely have 10 by the time the data cards come out for WCI. It may be different with Fishman Island. The number 11 card intrigues as a lot of people are thinking we're going to meet them in Wano.

Not necessarily. If Oda still isn't putting him with the strawhats in the colour spreads or in the volume intros, then he's unlikely to put him alongside them in the card book.

I've been saying it for the last year or two. #13 is the Thousand Sunny, it's why the soldier dock doors are set to 1 and 3, giving the appearance of a giant #13.

The means #10, #11, and #12 are likely to be nakama.

If Sunny is 13, it's reasonable to think that Merry is 12.

That said, we haven't seen any ship yet (like Shanks' or Roger's) and Sunny could have been released in this first pack together with the 9 current Strawhats.

The latter. Both Nami and Robin look very similar as do most of the series' females so on top of that, it's probably commonly hoped that the next nakama is both female AND not just another copy-paste face. Not necessarily a non-human but definitely one who won't easily be mistaken for the other two with only the hair on their head being able to definitively tell them apart.

How do you figure? We don't have a very good candidate at the moment so it could be literally anybody. Why is it necessarily a low chance of someone who isn't a carbon copy of Nami and Robin? We've seen tons of examples of females with different aesthetics as Oda has improved his artistic style (look at all of Big Mom's daughters and the variety there) so why assume he'll settle for another one, unless we infer that he's going to do that as a means of taking the easy way out? I prefer to give him a little more credit than that.

I'm personally just backing what makes the most sense, regardless of gender. But no, there's no legitimate argument to stating that the last member will be female. It's just what they want, simple as that.

You know what? I should say I hope for a mold breaking female. My gut feeling says low chances, but my head cannon wants it to happen. I give him all the credit in the world, it's just so far we've clones, but of course there was some ladies in WCI were interesting.

Wasn't this due to some pattern speculation? Nami was the second crewmate in the East Blue, Robin the second crewmate in Grand Line and [insert female character] would be the second crewmate in the New World.

Dead mentor, dream that is achieved by joining the crew, nothing holding her back, can hold her own in a fight, put on the same level as the crew on the hero cover, clear role on the crew, gags aplenty, etc…

I like Carrot as a character. I just wanna see how much focus she gets in Wano. Because even now, I don't think she'll join, respectfully.

Alright, you got me there. In regards to Carrot, We have tidbits of panel time of her and Pedro passing the mantle to her. I want to see if Oda will actually focus and flesh her out further along side the other Strawhats. If that is what happens, then I'll definitely admit she's there to stay. I do like her though.

Are you saying more eye candy is not customary in the genre? Or at least that the mangaka who provide more aren't the type who are looking out for their fan base? I mean, I used to be mad into DBZ but that was pretty much my only exposure to anime for a while when I was first getting into it and now that I've expanded it out, fewer of them seem to indulge on the level that One Piece does, so Oda's been doing a great job with that. It would just be nice for a new one to become a permanent fixture in the crew and a part of all the new color spreads and such.

All other factors aren't equal though. Since Oda is much more creative with his male characters, a new male strawhat would probably bring more variety than a new female strawhat.

Clearly that concept went over some heads. So if there was a new character with all the brilliant uniqueness of a new nakama, and the only ambiguity was about what sex they were, is it not correct to say that being female would be even more, shall we say, 'special', among the crew given the anatomy balance of the crew as it currently stands? Perhaps I could have been clearer but that was the intent of the statement. To make a new character stand out more, that one factor is pretty clearly going to make a bigger splash if it falls on the female side than the male side.

so ye, Shonen is highly dominated by boys, getting several of them in the main cast, in this genre, doesn't make it 'poor wiriting' in the slightiest.

I actually do agree with this. But the thought of a possible female that breaks cliche of the demographic, would frickin awesome. Though, hard to expect it from One Piece.

But the staples (or tropes, really) are males fighting and female eye candy on the side. So one or the other shouldn't automatically be precluded. Even if they're not perfectly balanced it is definitely tipped a bit too far on one side, especially with the crew getting separated so frequently now. Even some of the major villains are female which is rare, so you'd think more female nakama would be the logical response. Oda's been doing things way better than most other mangaka so continuing to break the mold is what we should expect.
