More like not relevant enough and not owned by Nintendo
Aha, so the same as the dude from xenoblade, right?

Nintendo owns monolith soft and consequently the xenoblade IP. Also, xenoblade was a pretty big game on the wii especially in japan

Nintendo publishes bayonetta 2 and now 1 as well. And both franchises are no big sellers. It makes no sense saying there is a reason bayonetta 2 shouldn't be in the game while shulk should.

Publishing is different from actual ownership of the IP. Nintendo actually owns Shulk and the rest of the Xenoblade franchise, and Monolith Soft is an actual subsidiary of the company. That's like saying Sonic is auto in smash because Nintendo did publishing for Lost World and winter games when he's still treated as a third party character
Well nintendo is too busy putting various clones into the game instead of more varied characters. Not saying they must put bayonetta in there, but other nintendo characters who don't mostly play the same would have been a better addition.

The thing is Bayonetta is not out yet, they need to see how it does and how it resonates with Nintendo fans, she might be in the next smash or a future DLC character.

Clones are easy to throw in and can appease people, even if they're not that great, but they cut back on a lot of dev time. Not negligible with the playtesting, but definitely easier than adding characters. Not saying I'm happy with it, but it does serve some sort of purpose.
But regardless, Nintendo literally does not necessarily have the rights to Bayonetta because she's not a Nintendo chracter.
Ehhh the thing that bothers me a LITTLE bit about putting Bayonetta in there is that she's a bit err…comically explicit? Wouldn't that piss off soccer moms?
Yeah, I know Snake is/was in Smash, but apparently parents don't really nitpick with violence nearly as much as some "sexual" content in a Nintendo game. Parents will definintely have more of a hay-day with Bayonetta than Snake in terms of putting what they deem is "appropriate" in a family friendly game.
There's already people mad that Samus has those short shorts and sports bra outfit.
It will be revealed that Bayonetta is a playable character in Smash 4 to divert attention away from Zero Suit Samus' stupid high heels
Heck, would Nintendo even allow her to talk? I mean half the thing she says ends up having some sort of sexual innuendo in there (and that doesn't include the name of her moves, poses when conducting the moves…yeah Nintendo's PR department will probably be working overtime to sort that out with grumpy western parents. The Japanese probably wouldn't care though).
Bayonetta: CLIMAX strips
Soccer mom walks in
Soccer Mom: Oh my god, I don't remember buying Jimmy a pornographic game! That's it mister. I'm smashing sponges into your eyes to wash out the filth you just saw. No more Nintendo for you buster!
Nintendo: we're all about family friendly
in the sense that there's something for everyone in the family
I always wanted to brofist Bowser.
So, the first print run of the game in Europe… is this.
Not a CE, not a SE. The regular priced first 15,000 copies release.
Once again EU gets something cool but NA gets nothing. Fuck you Nintendo of America.
If the WiiU was region free you wouldn't have to worry about it either.
Actually, disregard that. They clearly don't know WTF "First Print Edition" suggests. It actually is a CE that will be sold for the equivalent of $100. In this instance Europe is actually getting screwed, as the $60 equivalent is just Bayonetta 2. Europe has to spend another 15 bucks to get the edition that includes Bayonetta 1.
Picked it up, annoyingly it's a GAME exclusive. Their cs and shipping are dodgy so I hope I actually receive it ok.
And that price is about standard for an LE in the uk. Games cost a lot when they come out here, but on the flipside they drop like a stone within a few weeks unless nintendo made it.

How do you know that the special edition with the first and second game will cost 15 more? I haven't seen the price anywere yet.

Ah okay. If I convert the rates of the special edition it costs around 57€, which is less than full price normal ps4 or xbone game or even a new full price game on ps3 like destiny for example, and you get two games.^^
more details on the Nintendo costumes.
The Samus and Fox suits making shooting useful seems odd to me.
Did Bayonetta quip when activating Witch Time in the first one?
Wait so I thought the Nintendo costumes were for Bayonetta 1. They're usable in both? Or just in 2?
Both .
That's pretty full of win XD

Yessssss
It comes out….October 24th? Ah, something in between Smash and Pokemon.
I really hope there are even more secret costumes. Both original like the chinese dress or whatever that was and more nintendo ones.
DigitalFoundry got an advance copy and from a technical standpoint… the game is a little rough. The game struggles to keep 60fps, often being in the high 40's and early 50's during combat and sometimes even dropping into the 30's. Also the game is native 720p, not 1080p like a lot of the bigger Wii-U titles.
http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/digitalfoundry-2014-hands-on-with-bayonetta-2
I don't even think any WiiU games are 1080p. And most Nintendo games focus on framerate over graphics so why didn't Platinum do that here? I doubt anyone would have cared if the game looked the same as the first game. Though I haven't played either so I don't know how this game looks better if it does at all.
I recall an article where they said they were targeting 1080p 60fps. Maybe it was bullshit.
The game seems perfectly fluid for me even if the FPS stat says otherwise. That's all that matters. It's not like the game has huge slowdowns like in the PS3 game.
Anyway, good job PG. Whenever I get a Wii U, I'll be sure to pick that game.
So i just found out that everyone gets bayonetta 1 with bayonetta 2 in every country except the UK. Over here we have to fork over an extra £15 to get the special editon which comes with bayonetta 1. What the fuck nintedo of Europe
Well here in germany special edition costs about 59€ and just bayonetta 2 45€. Basically bayonetta 2 alone costs less than normal new ps3 or 360 game, while both games cost like a new ps3 game.
Bayonetta 2 is now out in japan. let's see how long we last till the NA release without getting spoiled.
also
A day, at best? Depends on how popular it ends up being, I guess.
I'm looking forward to it, especially since we also get the first game and the ability to play in a Samus costume. Hopefully that's available from the start.
Already out in japan? Oh man what the hell. Why didn't the release it worldwide at the same time. Smash and this. Other games manage to do it. And we have to wait for a nother month. :(
It's not like they need to work on it, it's completely done already.
Playthroughs already up on YouTube. The dialogue is in English, didn't know it had dual-audio.

and i will be avoiding them like the plague till it comes out here.
Edge just gave bayo2 10/10.
Oh man the game is fully available in english and we still have a month to go. Btw is edge a respected review site?^^ But we all know the game will be good anyway, it's platinum, so far they haven't made a bad game.
Edge is a UK gaming magazine that's been running since '93. They do serious articles and critques, and are one of the most trustworthy going. I only really trust them and Metro Gamecentral with reviews.
Are there any good gaming/review/journalism like sites to go to? I don't really read reviews anymore since I know what I like more than any other reviewer, but I'm curious since most sites like that seem crap now. I'd also prefer one where they focus more on games/game creators rather than about journalists writing about themselves or other journalists.

Gamecentral for reviews and interviews:
http://metro.co.uk/ents-tech/gaming/
They're part of a London newspaper, and as such they don't have to worry about getting gaming advertisements and so forth, so they're completely free to write what they want. Their interviews are very good.
Then there's rock paper shotgun for features, although it's purely for pc gaming:
http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/
Good sites are pretty thin on the ground these days I'm afraid. There's good stuff in Edge, GamesTM and Retrogamer, but those are all magazines.
Thanks. I'll check them out.
Don't know if this counts as spoilers or not (I have no idea how far into the game this section is), but there is an interesting easter egg in this game for Nintendo fans.
http://www.twitch.tv/maximilian_dood/c/5176032 (Bayonetta 2 gameplay starts 38 seconds in)
! Also, I really want to see Platinum Games make a Star Fox game now. Well, more than I already did.
! Bayonetta 2 will be the best Star Fox game in years
They should just give platinum every game that they wanna revive.^^
It will be revealed that Platinum's next Nintendo game will be Ice Climbers: Upclimbing.

I suspect they will use the vanquish engine for this one.
The game only sold about 38,000 copies in its first week in Japan. In comparison Bayonetta 1 sold about 135,000 copies on PS3 and 64,000 on Xbox 360 during its first week in Japan. Yes, the 360 version of Bayo 1 sold more than Bayo 2… and the 360 always sold piss-poor in Japan.
