Your blood-donating experience sounds a lot like mine, Nolus. Except I don't mind seeing blood and having big needles shoved into me. :D And I got offered free food and drinks. If they didn't give you any, I strongly suggest you eat and drink well. Otherwise you might feel a bit weak, though feeling slightly odd is perfectly normal. Happened to me, too. :)
To be honest, the sight of blood didn't scare me or anything. I found my blood beautiful. Although I still hate big needles~
Oh, they gave me mineral water and some snack but I also brought some with me so it was all right.
I'm good now. Although I still can't use my left arm to its full extent, but I write with the right one anyways, so it's no biggie.
