You guys are weird. Lion King isn't even that good compared to some other Disney movies? :V
But yeah jokes aside compared to what?
I mean the only other 2d animated disney movie that I probably like almost as much is Mulan.

Lion King has a great nostalgia factor going for it and it still holds up really well today. When it was re-released in theaters a few years back my coworkers and I saw it and sung every song. Truly one of the greatest Disney movies ever made.
It'd be interesting to see what Disney animated movies others think are better than Lion King.
The Fox and The Hound, Mulan, Tarzan, Brother Bear, Lilo & Stitch…
I don't know, really. Lion King was pretty good, but it was never anything special to me. The story is as generic as it gets. (Then again, so is Tarzan's) :P
My favorite Disney movie is 101 Dalmations
Dalmations has some of the best direction and shot composition of any Disney movie and I think it's the most underrated masterpiece to come out of the studio. So many shots in it are just Too Good. I have several framed sketches and drafts and I'll never let them go.
Oh god yes, 101 Dalmatians. How could I have forgotten about that. She's right guys, this is futile. 101 Dalmatians just takes the cake hands down, it's that good. It was always my favourite as a little kid (alongside The Fox and The Hound) because of how good the direction and the actual sequence of events through natural plot progression was in the movie.
The sequence of scenes where all the dalmatians are trudging through the snow in the blizzard… I don't think any other Disney scene ever has topped that.
Poor Hunchback of Notre Dame never gets any love…unless it's from a pretty gypsy lady.
And of course no mention of Beauty and the Beast?
Everyone always mentions Beauty and the Beast though. 90s/Keane's Disney is super popular with my generation since it was ours. Like they were incredible and it was a real renaissance and all but yeah definitely popular as hell. (No Hunchback though, I'm sorry that movie is really horribly flawed and maybe the sign that the revival was over)
I don't even want to argue against any kind of disney movie at the end of the day most of them are just fantastic.
But it's interesting to see other people's favorite.
What about the 3d animated ones? I often feel like most would say the Incredibles, someone here that has a different favorite?
"The train terminates here" <- is this a correct expression?
Because it sounds dumb. And it's what's being said in our newest metro, Metro 4 aka the we rushed this sh- so we can look good for the elections. They didn't even paint the walls, or anything. It's the concrete all along.
Robin Hood, the Jungle Book, Aristocats, the great mouse detective, Mulan, a Goofy movie.
There are just to many damn good disney films. But Aladdin and the Lion King have always been closest to my heart

See I feel as if I'm the only one that ever liked that movie. That and Hercules while definitely not in my top faves were both really enjoyable for me and still are today. They still get so much flak. :/ Hunchback, like Beauty, had that whole dark theme and loving someone for their inner beauty rather than their appearance but unlike Beauty the hunchback didn't turn into some beautiful prince at the end. He was who he was and he stayed like that, outward and inward, at the end of the filmh and that's life. I enjoyed Beauty more, definitely it's a great story, but I find Hunchback more tangible/real. As realistic as you can be with talking gargoyles.
the great mouse detective
Good man.
To be fair, any movie with Vincent Price in has a head-start on having something going for it. Also, villain songs are the best:
You can't have a proper villain song without nazi hyenas
puts Great Mouse Detective on his To Watch list

I love Hercules, specially snything involving Hades :]

Hercules was great. Only a total grump could say otherwise
I am not alone. T_T

I hear yeah on that one, dude!
Aladdin was the shit back in the day, with one of the reasons being my no.1 favorite disney princess, Jasmine!! :D
Well, Don Jon was certainly interesting. Pretty dissapointed that you didn´t gouge out Dryisn eyes by the way. I was hoping fury. I even brought my camera :(
And in personal tastes, i really like The Little Mermaid b:
Frozen was a bit ehh for me, and that's usually my reaction to Disney cashing in on the whole CGI movie thing. Pixar(I know it's part of Disney) and Dreamworks are just so much better, especially in the animation department IMO. Frozen and even Tangled just seemed rather… eh.. "safe"?
My favorite Disney movie is Alladin. Followed by Lilo and Stitch. Then Lion King. Then Tarzan. If I gotta pick a rather dated one, I like Dumbo.
emperor's new groove is pretty much perfect in every way

i liked tangled but compared to frozen, the animation was simply not as good. there, i said it. Frozen animation was simply on the next level
But but but in Lion King, Mufasa's death scene is unmatched. UNMATCHED, I SAY.
I watched Lion King so many times growing up, that I have whole scenes of dialogue memorized
"Be Prepared? For what?"
"FOR THE DEATH OF THE KING."
"Is he sick!?"
"No, fool! We will kill him.. and Simba too.."
I can keep going but this is really more entertaining in person. I'm pretty good at the voices o.o

I absolutely adore the intro background music to the song until 0:12
I think Hercules has my favorite songs and i was really into mythology when I was younger. Also it wasn't as popular as the other disney movies so seeing it was always a treat. and the titans were cool. they made for great Mcdonalds toys.
We owned The Great Mouse Detective and that movie always creepy me out a bit. Like from start to end it was just a tiny bit creepy, sometimes like when Ratigan loses it, it was really freaky. Now i appreciate it more but back then.. that was like a once a year play.
Favorite Disney movies, eh?
I loved Hercules, but mostly because James Woods absolutely sold the role as Hades and practically carried the movie himself. I mostly tend to enjoy films based on how well their respective villains are, because I believe that the villains are the ones who ultimately drive the plot forward (the villain acts, the hero reacts). So I would say Hades, Ursula, and Oogie Boogie remain as my three favorite Disney villains, though Frollo gets an honorable mention.
But my all-time favorite Disney film, the one beloved Disney film that is most nearest and dearest to my nostalgic heart is without a doubt…

Just come back from the weekend.
It sure was nice not having internet these past days. :P
About to go to work.
If I had to choose, I'd say Mulan and Lion King. They both have characters I adore, beautiful animations and scenery and the stories enchant me and a way no story can. It can also be because the Hungarian voice of Mufasa is the same as Papa Smurfs (I loved the Smurfs) (fun fact, yay). And you don't have to wonder too much to know why I love Mulan. Another fun fact: you remember the scene when Mulan prepares to go to instead of her father. She cuts her hair so it's shorter. I thought back then that short hair means men and long hair means women~
Beauty and the Beast gets an honorable mention because… talking personalized everyday things; seriously, that amused me as a kid and continues to do so even now. Tarzan, to be honest, was kinda meh to me. Don't get me wrong, I don't think it's bad, it's just that... I don't feel as strong towards it as other Disney film. As for Lilo and Stitch, I can safely say that I appreciate it more as a grown up (sort of) than as a kid. Now I can understand all those struggles that the characters go through. Hercules is another classic for me, along with Aladdin. 101 Dalmations? I've recently rewatched it and I started to cry at one point (when they were walking through the blizzard) because it was so heartbreaking and well done.

1 Tangled
2 The Lion King
3 Sleeping Beauty
4 The Emperor's New Groove
5 Goofy Movie
I'd certainly like to see Mother Gothel and Scar have a sing-off. Frozen was great too. It had the best music story-wise, as far as I can remember.
Ugh, Fox and the Hound… That one should probably go above Sleeping Beauty.

Yeah, Emperor's New Groove is right up there too. It's just a really funny movie. Makes me smile every time.
… seriously, what's with all these really good Disney flicks that I keep forgetting about. Even Jungle Book. It was always one of my favourites, but when it comes to listing good Disney stuff I always forget about it. v_v
^^Some movies just don't stand out above the crowd. Even if they shout out loud. Until their face is the only one you see. They just gotta stand out until you notice them.

I guess it's the cruelty of the man's mind.
That didn't make any sense
I find it interesting how most sequels to classic Disney films aren't as good. Lion King 2 is kinda meh, I can't even remember what happened in Hunchback 2.
That's what, for example, Lion King and Aladdin are to me, yeah. They're not bad by any stretch of the imagination and anyone who would say that is out of their minds, they just don't stand out because I have no special emotional connection with either one of them. :P
Stuff like Emperor's New Groove and the Jungle Book, though… Even 101 Dalmatians... I'm starting to think I'm becoming demented at 20. >_>
(Also Robin Hood, but that's a total guilty pleasure of mine because I fully acknowledge that it's not that good. Still definitely one of my favourites though because nostalgia. :3)

Holy crap, have you seen Mulan 2? It'll make you wish you've never owned a VHS player to slip that thing into. Though, I'm sure by now it's on DVD too. The horror. ~_~

I think I have, but I remember absolutely nothing from it. At least Lion King 2 wasn't bad, but wasn't anything up to the original. I guess you can't have a good Lion King movie without Mufasa and Scar.
The Little Mermaid 2… e_e

Repressed memory, lol.

Yeah, any old Disney movie with "2" in it I just stay away from. Though I do admit I didn't hate Hunchback 2 or Lion King 2.

This slanderous insult will not stand. Know that this means war Birdo
jumps from a burning stone castle into a shallow pond and swims to the shore using a reed for breathing
It's probably my favourite Disney movie. But I never dare say that aloud because it's just not the greatest thing ever. :P
I forgot about Aladdin.
For me Lion king & Aladdin are tied for 1st. Then Mulan, then maybe Cinderella.
Ahh Aladdin.. As a young Muslim kid growing up I remember being so shocked that a Disney character said "Salam" (old merchant dude at the beginning) I was probably like OMG OMG OMG DID HE SAY SALAM WTF and my sisters would tell me to shut up and stop talking, lol.
Emperor's New Groove was great, was it Disney? To be totally honest, I don't think I associate things with Disney unless they're 'classic' Disney, or involve a princess.
Also, I never could get over the fact that Brock Sampson was a bumbling comedy-relief guard.
I'm surprised no one ever mentions Ratatouille when it comes to the 3D Disney movies.

!
Sadly Hades never had his own song :(
That's because Ratatouille is Pixar. Only uninformed people count Pixar movies as Disney movies even though Disney bought them. They're just not the same in any way if we disregard the upper management.
Dreamworks goodness:
I love the two dudes from road to eldorado for one reason. They're dubbed by these dudes.
Words out of my mouth!

Not a Disney Film (20th Century Fox), but still one of my favorite Animated films ever.
Anastasia for best animated female protagonist (Chihiro excluded because obviously no one tops Chihiro)

Oh my god! This made me instantly remember Bartok the Magnificient, that movie was one of my favourites as a kid, I had completely forgotten about it!
I have to watch the original Anastasia someday.
EDIT: Hey it seems like a movie about Maleficient is going to air on May, I knew nothing about it.
Pocahontas 2 was good enough. And Emperor's New Groove is listed on their 50 animated films countdown, so I assume it counts…
Emperor's New Groove is Disney. Ratatouille is Pixar. Sorry for the confusion. v_v
Used my movie employment to score me and my mom tickets. She saw Noah, and I saw Captain America.
Twas an awesome movie.
@Monkey:
Ok cool, so the two dudes who shall we say "shot people" told you they didn't shoot anyone.
Which means you know more about it than the shooting victims and their close confidants, as well as eye witnesses to the scene of the crime.
That'll hold up in court!
If these two guys ar ethe two guys I think they are then I think we might actually be on the same sort of wavelength for once in our Arlong Park Forums history.
I decided that i really care about the book project that i have (called Salaryman) so fuck the government. I'll send one from the previous years.
