@Purple:
Lmao how buried up your own opinion do you have to be to keep repeating this sorta mantra
When we jump from "I hope there's a season 6" to "season 9 confirmed by anonymous source", skepticism needs to be restated.
The announcement of a movie DOES change things. Its the first confirmation of extra material in 3 years. It's more than we've had. So it warrants new and different speculation.
Like, maybe since they keep doing it in hourlong bomb blocks, they're just dropping the pretense entirely and doing movie format, and so now we are getting season 6… in the form of 4 or 5 hourlong movies, once every couple months, (as the bombs work anyway) like how that one season of Futurama worked out. (Where they did 4 movies that they then later split into 16 episodes.)
It's the most optimistic I've been about it in a year. I still haven't heard a single good explanation for why they wouldn't announce an official extra season once they had it confirmed, which would have had to have been at least a year ago. Except now, if its as a series of movies then each movie can be an announcement and an event and that's actually finally something that makes a little sense to space out. (though announcing 4 movies at once would work just as well I would think.) .
But it's still a good idea to temper expectations according to what we do know is there, rather than immediately jumping to celebrating that we have another 100 episodes.
Another handful of episodes in what, September? And it should be super clear after those what's what regardless of what's been announced.
But hey, movies are on the plate now. ANd finally a confirmation of more. Just... not how much.
