It's more comraderie than anything I assume. Zambai is the typical tsuppari figure who'll call anyone that is BMF enough to kick his ass master.
Chapter 380 "Enies Lobby Main Island Express" Discussion

I'm not sure what prompted Paulie's. I'm sure ooshi's done it already but his "it doesn't matter" seems pretty… I dunno the word. Curious ?
Then again I'm probably reading too much into that. Ehhh~
i think paulie's reaction is more along the lines of "it wouldn't matter what you call me, i would be here even by myself". but then again… i'm only so so at reading the minds of 2D characters...

If all the past enemies do show up at one point, I hope it's just Luffy's chance to say "go away, bitches, you lost."

That's what it felt like to me, yeah. It was more wondering if anyone was taking it seriously enough to think that the entire FF was going to join (which reading on the rest of the thread now (thank you work. You take time out of my forum habits. what a kick :P) seems like it did happen XD)…

That totally makes sense ! Don't worry, you read their minds better than I do.
-
Finally finished reading it.
Cool chapter if not slowing down the story just a tad (though it is cruical). Mainly were just seeing how the Frankies and Galley-La are doing from the looks of it pretty well. They (or should I say Paulie and rather nicely too) managed to take down the second giant only to run into more trouble as the reinforcements arrive and a rather nasty looking bunch they are too (Ouch, poor Paulie). Hehe cool spread of the Rocketman flying over the gate though. And Zoro and Sanji finally join the party.Yayness!
Overall good not great chapter but then again were close getting to the juicy stuff.
-Edit- Hmm the more I think about and read the other posts. The more I can see the Frankies and/or Gallay-La joining the Straw Hats. With the threat of the Buster Call by the end of this arc, having some more people and a powerful ship wouldn't be such a bad idea.
-

carly is thinking "i want to send ooshi78 ONE BILLION DOLLARS"to me this was another filler chapter…

nice chapter, About the FF joining that would be cool and could be quite possible too. If franky joins than the FF are bound to follow.

Carly is thinking she's not a 2D character.

I see Zambai saying "we are strawhats" to thow the navy onto the strawhat gang and not the FF when they leave . The SH, FF, and GL could stick together for awile untill Iceberg shows up later with the new ship .
-
If the FF joined it would ruin OP. Plus Oda said he was having trouble with 7 straw hats. You really think he would add 50 more?
-

While I originally thought FF would have a hard time carrying themselves after they declared as such (with respect to the Govt chasing them etc) so long as they change their image, doesn't that declaration keep their AND Galley-La's identity safe? Yeah we have to admit it would take a bit of comic book logic, especially with Oda's Attach running around taking snapshots, but at very least this verbally throws all the important people off the right track.
-
Does anybody else think that this could possibly be foreshadowing for Zambai becoming a crew member?
It's unlikely, I admit. But it's a neat possibility that Zambai would want to join, considering his declaration just now.

Nah, that makes sense too. Here's true genius at work, when you find double meanings in just one sentence. Even though I agree that that is most likely true, my gut impression is that it's just kind of a nice kick to lighten the mood… but then again you're better at guessing about this kind of thing than I am in any scenario
-
My pick for Badass Shot would have to be Zambai, Pauley, Square Sisters, Lulu, and Tileston standing on Oimo's battered body. I mean, imagine what those Marine's must've been thinking, "Holy crap, these guys took down two giants!"
-
Right now, the best fit for a new crewmember would have to be Franky, or Zambai, oda keeps building up zambai for some reason, most likely because i think he will be left in charge leading the franky family as dismantlers if and when Franky joins. I just dont see Paulie joining up anymore, he just doesnt fit, and ever since kaku and lucci whooped his ass, he's been a sissy ever since.
I mean… Franky is handcuffed and he is biting people, that shit is diesel compared to paulie uhh, tieing up someone with rope, and then getting stabbed in the arm by someone who zoro and sanji will be thinking nothing of after they beat them in a couple panels next chapter.
-
….riiiight he just toppeled a FRICKING GIGANT who can crush a building with a flick of the hand that in my book out-weighs biting someones head though franky have done some equaly badass stuff before,
and honestly Zoro have gotten those stabs that Paulie got a million times,
some asshole suprises him and puts a blade in his gut but what makes both of them bad ass is that they dont just lay down in defeat after wards but instead keep fighting. -
he's been a sissy ever since.
yeah, that's cuz sissies risk their lives breaking into the WG and then beat the crap out of a couple giants .
and honestly Zoro have gotten those stabs that Paulie got a million times,
some asshole suprises him and puts a blade in his gut but what makes both of them bad ass is that they dont just lay down in defeat after wards but instead keep fighting.exactly what i was thinking.
-
Who doesn't get injured?
Everybody gets their fair share of injuries; Straw Hat, support character, or otherwise.
-
….riiiight he just toppeled a FRICKING GIGANT who can crush a building with a flick of the hand
The thing is it wasn't just Paulie who toppled the giants. Sure, the ropes did come in handy but with both giants Paulie needed assistance to knock them down to make up for his lack of strength.
I think that shows that no matter how tough the enemy is, proper teamwork can defeat anyone. As mentioned by others, I'm sure teamwork is going play a major role in how the strawhats will beat cp9. It may start off as 1 on 1 but I think in the end it will be a big brawl.
-
well with the first one they teamed up but with Oimo he was the one who made up the plan and he roped the guy then he he just told them to get the seakings to pull so basicly he did it himself with his wits and skill and a little assistence of sodoma and gomorra(that their name right ?).
but of course i agree on the teamwork part.
-
while pauly played a major role in pinning the first giant he had assistance of Kiwi/Mozo/Tilestone and others but with Oimo we only saw him doing all the work with the help of sodoma and gomorra in the sheer power department
-
Yeah, Pauly is badass. I can't follow any form of logic that would conclude he is a "sissy" in any way.
BTW, when Bevin mentioned Sanji being in "Mellorine" mode for the first time in a while, I just noticed that it feels like the chapter is precluding that the Strawhats are BACK. DON
-
I would like to see Paulie join the main crew while Franky and the FF form a second strawhat crew. It would also give us another cover story to follow and allow the strawhat name and dominion to spread even further.
-
Man Oda is on a fire!! This chapter was really cool (not as funny as the last one but still cool). I'm glad to see Sanji acting "normal".^_^ What will oda do next?
-
Look!!! A Panda that's also a man!
-
I didn't catch that. What page is Pandaman on?
-
pg.6, bottom panel. He's between the Marine's legs.
-
nice find, cool pandaman, guess he wasnt just for a show when he appeared in ch 377
-
I would like to see Paulie join the main crew while Franky and the FF form a second strawhat crew. It would also give us another cover story to follow and allow the strawhat name and dominion to spread even further.
Replace Franky with Zambai and you've got yourself a winning idea. Franky belongs on a ship with the Strawhats and you should know by now why:
-He's the only freaking cyborg in existance!
-He's had a heartwrenching past like the rest of the crew.
-He has a ridiculous amount of special moves like the rest of the gang.
-He's appeared in a colorspread with the rest of the Strawhats.
-Let's face it, nothing else like him on Earth. He's just SUPER!He's a Strawhat nakama through and through.
Now someone tell me why Paulie keeps getting called a sissy? Especially after that whole deal with the giant. All he needs is another move like that that no other person who can weild rope can pull off plus a hefty backstory and more moments like this chapter's and you've got a sure-fire winner.
I really really don't think I like where Zambai was going with that comment. I can see him joining but maybe not. But Oda will be hearing from my personal ninja assasin squadron if he thinks throwing the Square Sisters in with the Strawhat crowd is going to be an honestly good idea. >=( They're ugly as sin for christ sakes and all their purpose has really been serving is that they're Franky's personal cheerleading squad. Unless I've missed something.
-
-
haha lol  best quote yet!
I was a personal fan of when somebody said 'that shit is diesel'. I'm going to try to incorporate that into my everyday vocabulary…
Waiter at a fancy restaurant: Did everybody enjoy their meal?
Me: Yeah, that shit was diesel, homie. Tell the chef that he deserves mad props.
-
Oh god. Someone else uses 'that shit is diesel' besides me ?
-

Zambai is too weak to be the captain of a second division.
-

I think they look better than Calipha. The long nose is hawt.
-
I like the one with the glasses.. :P
-
Saying Pauley took down Oimo by himself is like saying Zambai took down the last one because he shot it in the face with a bazooka and tricked Oimo into hitting him. Pauley did a cool thing by roping up the giant, but he obviously didn't have the strength or the power to do anything else. If Sodom and Gomorrah weren't there, Oimo probably would've just broken out. It was a team effort.
Plus, Oimo got up a few minutes later.
And the problem with Zambai joining is he most likely doesn't have shipwright training. Remember, he's a dismantler. And it's not the kind of thing you can learn overnight. I still think Franky is at the head of the running.

OH NO. I'm sure he's petrified and is re-writing the story as we speak.
-
@Cap'n:
And the problem with Zambai joining is he most likely doesn't have shipwright training.
Wasn't the Franky Family constructed of people who weren't qualified to be in Galley-La? Or was that just the Square Sisters?
At any rate, if he's capable of dismantling a ship, then he should have fairly good knowledge of how they're constructed. The guy is probably a decent enough shipwright, but not on the level of Pauly, Lulu, or Tilestone, let alone Franky.
-
but you can say like i said that Paulie toppled a gigant cause thats what he did he formulated the plan he used his skill to rope the guy then he used the seakings to pull i wouldnt call that a team effort,
and simply that you can with your skill and wits knock a fricking gigant of his feet just screams badass to me.
how come franky is at the top of the shipwright chain ?
he hasnt been doing any real such work for years whilst the galley-la boys have been doing it daily for the latest years atleast probably more,
and i assume that they have been taught a thing or two by Iceburg specialy Paulie since he seems to think that Ice made him who he is so id recon that they are atleast on par with franky. -

Paulie have been taught a thing or two by Iceburg, which makes Iceburg superior to Paulie. And in the same Instant Iceburg is Franky´s equal.
Like it or dislike it none of the Galley-la shipwrights is equal to Franky. Iceburg and Franky are the Ying and Yang of Water 7. Both were Tom´s apprentices, the one is now the mayor of the town and boss of Galley-la, the other one is the underworld boss of Water 7 and the head of the dismantlers called Franky Family. Iceburg and Franky are on one level. Paulie is just to Iceburg what Zanbai is to Franky. -
But see, it wasn't just his skills and wit. Sure, he started the attack, but the others finished it.
-
and who ordered them to do it ?
yeah thats right Paulie they would just have stood there looking if he hadnt told them to Pull so yeah it was his skill and his wits coupled with a little bit of leader ship that knocked him off his feet i just dont see how you can argue with that,
but then again i argue on a lot of stupid stuff to XD.they were on par when they were young but now its what 8 years later ?
and franky hasnt been building any ships for that long and his skill should have become a little rusty i just think that hes not as good as he used to be,
but on the other hand this is Op and you could probably sit on your ass for years and eating lots a food and still retain a six pack XDand just to point out they could have surpassed their teacher he thought them all he knew and then they have simply become better than him,
-
I'd respond but I can't understand half of what you're saying.
-
I think Pauly could have beaten Oimo, though. He probably only did that because a team effort is easier.
And while it's true that they could have surpassed Ice, I think Franky was better than him anyway. He wouldn't be that rusty since he's been in the dismantling game for all this time.
-
I think Pauly could have beaten Oimo, though. He probably only did that because a team effort is easier.
tru, plus it's faster and they were in a mad hurry.
and i think paulie might have surpassed ice. or (if he sticks around) he will surpass him later on.
-
@Cap'n:

oh thats nice pick on the kid with the poor english skills:laugh:
but lets put it this way i dont consider using two animals as tools to pull as a team effort to me that is just like Paulie using his ropes.
a team effort to me is when a couple of People think of and follow a plan and attack togheter.
-
franky has experience building warships, besides being able to take ships apart is more useful for the mugiwara then putting them together..

So far I haven´t seen anyone at Galley-La who can build something that comes even close to a Battle Franky. True it was eight years ago when we last saw one, but that means that Franky already was able to build something in the past that hasn´t been topped in the present so far.
Other then that he is a freaking cyborg, in other terms he is half machine and machines need maintanance if they are supposed to keep on working. This also includes technologic skills. Just because we didn´t see Franky work on his body it doesn´t mean that he didn´t do so. In fact we didn´t even see what kind of ship Paulie can build all by himself. The only one who´s final products we have seen are Tom, Iceburg and Cutty Flam. I haven´t seen any product in this story that shows me that Paulie´s (or anyone else´s) skills are even close to either one of Tom´s workers.
And last thing, Franky was a genuis in building things. You don´t lose that skill especially if you still have a dream that has something to do with this skill.
-
So far I haven´t seen anyone at Galley-La who can build something that comes even close to a Battle Franky.
Considering that we've not really seen them build any ship, that really doesn't mean much. We saw a galleon under construction that was roughly as large as all of the Battle Frankies put together, but we don't know anything about it's capabilities.
And what was so special about the various Battle Frankies? They were basically just floating weapon platforms designed to defeat a Sea King, which would seem to be a singularly useless attribute seeing as civilization has done perfectly well for itself without needing ships for just that purpose. At best, it might make crossing the Calm Belt a less dangerous proposition, but I have to wonder whether or not that would even be a good thing.
And last thing, Franky was a genuis in building things. You don´t lose that skill especially if you still have a dream that has something to do with this skill.
Again, I still have to think that dream of his is the single biggest thing against him joining the Straw Hats. He's pretty much already on top of the game as far as shipwrights go with only Iceburg likely being his equal. If he builds his ship, where does he go from there?
-
There's always maintaining the ship….
-
franky'd be way cooler with a pair of pants
