To PS3 and Xbox 360. Trey and Matt are writing the script for the game. Which is good news.
South Park: The Stick of Truth
-
-
This totally takes me back to South Park for the N64.
-
Both South Park 64 and South Park Rally were awesome games. So I can't wait for this.
-
could be cool, but I don't think I can take this game serious (which may be the point though)
-
Ahh, I have fond memories of that cow cannon . . . .
-
RPG? I hope its just mindless bullshit fun like the 64 game and not something like a final fantasy rpg.
I want more like the 64 action adventure type of game than an RPG.

Yep this will totally be like Final Fantasy, no question about it.
Man this game if done right can be so great, I want it now.
-
at level 66, you learn White Noise. It's the most broken attack in the whole game.
-
I think South Park was the first game that I ever bought out of love for a licensed franchise, despite being mediocre overall (Though I had the Playstation version of the game, I don't know if the N64 version was any different/better).

T](http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=454179)he game will have a similar battle system to Paper Mario and Mario & Luigi which is great, since those have my favorite battle system for RPGs. My excitement has risen.
-
Sounds to me that it's South Park meets Paper Mario with a more fantasy element to it (Return of the Lord of the Rings to the Two Towers springs to mind.)
-
RPG of the year 2012!
-
I have no clue how this will play or work overall but I'm interested, I can say that much.
-
-The player will play as the new kid in town, the main theme of the game is fitting in and being accepted.
-The story begins with your character participating in a live action role-playing game that the neighborhood kids started, which eventually evolves into a real adventure.
-Eric Cartman will greet your character and help you decide your class, which are wizard, paladin, adventurer, rogue, and a fifth unconventional class made up by Cartman.
Okay, now I'm hyped, and a bit frightened.
-
Maybe they'll have a lot of them and it's different every time you play. That'd be awesome.

Dude this is Eric Cartman we're talking about, you really think he's going to be nice to the new kid?
-
Personally, I'm hoping the 5th class will be "Jew".

It will be the hardest class to beat the game.
Jew-only walkthrough.
-
Low class citizen.
-
"Meheecan" for the fifth class..

Color me unimpressed. I mean, yeah, it looks exactly like the show but… I guess I was hoping for something more grand?

You mean in 3D? Nah. South Park would just look really odd in 3D
But this. It oozes of Paper Mario. And if it's anything like that it'll be excellent.

Why would you want it to not look exactly like the show. I mean south park could easily change their art style in the show to me more like say one piece or hell even 3d'ish like some cartoons, but it has its art style and sticks to it. The art is part of what makes the show so great, so why would you want a video game based on the show to not look exactly like it?
-
I like it a lot how they're able to pretty much recreate the art style of the show in game form.
-
I actually wasn't talking about the art style at all. I'm talking about how combat seems to be being handled.

I wasn't aware the show had an interactive combat system.
-
@RobbyBevard:
I wasn't aware the show had an interactive combat system.
Oh, then clearly the game shouldn't have a combat system at all to be a "true" South Park game. I was merely hoping the combat system would be more fleshed out than what these screenshots are letting on.
-
They wanted it to be like a RPG. They went with Final Fantasy type. Don't see anything wrong with this at all considering the amount of chars you're controlling
-
Be kind of neat if they had MULTIPLE play styles depending on the part of the story you are doing.
Like most the game is the typical turn based final fantasy style, but then when you are say playing as Mysterio it switches to like Arkham city play style. Or when you are doing something like playing cops and robbers it switches to a first person shooter or third person shooter. ECT.
-
-
Ohohohoh! Looks exactly like the show. Awesome!
-
I really hope this game doesn't go down with THQ's rapidly sinking ship. Anytime you get the actual writers involved with these game crossovers the quality is just miles better.
-
I know I'm knit picking at all the grounds in this delicious kettle of coffee, BUT is anyone else bummed out that Kevin made a Star Trek reference? Other than that, it is quite remarkable how much this actually looks like the show. I look forward to giving it a rental.
-
So does this play like a mario rpgs or Final fantasy early games. You know you stand there and select attacks and watch enemy attack you ect.
-
16 bubbling brown characters of Yes ^
They were taking Paper Mario as an inspiration for this game.
-
Cool, really liked the first paper mario I played. Disliked the next one i played. I liked the whole classic RPG stand off style. I mean I'm all for advancements in RPG's combat when it works. Heck I love Tales of, and some of these other more action RPGs, but still treasure the classic style.
-
Loving the amount of detail they've put into the game from South Park's past (like the Security Guard from Cartman World and Stan's Dog being summon attacks) This is one of the few third party games out next year that I'm genuinely really excited for.
-
Huh….I didn't realize this was going to be a retail game, I was under the impression it was downloadable only.
-
BUT is anyone else bummed out that Kevin made a Star Trek reference?
Doesn't he… always do that? (well... a sci fi reference) :wassat:
-
I think he usually does a Star Wars reference I think. Not that it really matters. I just got the impression he's a Sci-Fi geek
-
Finally we have a release date: December 10. Plus, there's going to be an $80 collector's edition.

The gameplay looks great. I did got a good laugh from what Cartman said what the new kid in town about his name. Only one more month until this game comes out.
-
Here's a youtube vid copy of the first 13 minutes of gameplay:
OMG this game looks awesome. Like literally playing an episode of the series. Aaaggh, I wanna play it why do I have no moneeeeeyyyyyy!!!!!!!
P.S: Sano, I change the title so that people can know this is the official thread for the game more clearly.
-
Wow, this game looks surprisingly good! Definitely going to buy this, although i may wait a few month until the price drops.
I'm glad Trey and Matt did all the writing for the game. With it, it actually seems like you are playing a long SP-episode. -
Game hasn't been on my radar but yeah that looks really good. Too bad that I'm going to be playing dark souls 2 so this will have to wait.
I'll wait on bug reports obsidian doesn't have the best track record although as I understand it, it was mostly because of time contraints. Given that this game seems to have been given plenty of time we might see the first game from them that's not riddled with bugs on launch. -
Another mini-gameplay trailer here showing what I'm guessing is mage gameplay:
And so a beginning mage spell is . . . . . . farts. Oh South Park.
-
Wait. This is coming on the PS4!?
-
-
says PS4 on the video
-
A typo in the title I'm pretty sure. The video itself only lists PC, PS3, and 360 at the end.
