Haven't seen Heki in action for a long time. Finally will get to see what kind of strength allowed for such a mediocre guy to reach position of a general. Perhabs behind the bland clothes hides a real beast. Heki will show his moves. Can't wait to see.

Your sights are far too low for Heki-Sama. He'll kill Riboku and bed Yotwana.

Last week post:
I wonder if I ever said this before, but the Fasha will adopt someone in this war and he will redeem himself. I love how the author is getting comfortable in adding his humor. I loved every single detail of the chapter.
The unnecessary kick, them almost losing their heads, Heki looking depressed all chapter until Yo Tan Wa reminds him why they are going this far. Which is the right strategy that way the mountain tribe can focus on one side and overwhelm.
The orphan probably knows that their supplies are low. That is why he has not been showing the real number of troops, just keeping the attrition going. So I wonder if they will change tactics knowing that Qin is reaching their limits and try to launch an all out attack.
The Fasha hate is real, how can you doubt the guy that Ou Sen manipulated into a trap and still managed to survive, which got out done by Renpa knowing that Ou Sen would mess with his troops like that.
–--- Merge with new post because of new chapter------
LUUDIN!!!!!!!!!! I'll give my thoughts after a few responses.
! Seems like they did go for an all out attack. I can read you, ORPHAN! Just try to target Heki again, you will get adopted.
-
Went exactly as predicted by you. Now it's showtime!

Newest Kingdom volume
-
Completely forgot that there was a chapter again last week.
I wonder if we will spend a longer time on that frontline and then how long that arc is supposed to be.But I have yet again a problem with the 'genius strategy' depicted here. Targeting the enemy commanders? Isnt that what they have done since day 1? And they were not exactly hidden or hard to spot. Isnt it just the usual strategy of marching against your enemy frontally and hoping that your opponent is dead by the end of the fighting? How is that in any way or form something to be impressed with?
I can only assume that Yotanwahs real strategy is something else (I have read that she wanted to empty the enemy city of soldiers, that seemed pretty plausible). I also have a feeling that Yotanwah will decide the victor of that campaign, because if she triumphs she can either march to Ryou or fall into the back of the Zhaos at the main battle (which makes Riboku sitting on his arse and having all the time of the world instead of crushing his enemy with his superior forces even more irritating)
-
I don't remember anyone claiming it was a genius strategy. It's basically the only possible course of action for them.
The old man's tribe is probably going to be a crucial factor. His name escapes me. The one that looks like old male Kyokai. Could that be a mere coincidence? :ninja:
-
It is still described as a breakthrough, as something that they only now do as their last chance, when it should be the very thing that had been done all the time.
Also, the raw are out (or chinese/korean scan whatever)
! its Hekis time to shine, but nothing else happened. there might also be an indication that we will skip scenes next chapter. damn, its hard reading that weekly, even if for me it had been practically two chapters in a row.

They all gonna die.
http://reader.sensescans.com/read/kingdom/en/51/555/page/1I'd bet Akou is gonna bite the dust but obviously ousen's plan wont fail so how many people die is up to the writer. I can definitely see this being the low point in which they have to rally from to beat Zhao here but depending on how many arcs are left who knows
-
To no one's surprise, Akou will also bite the dust and it's up to the youngsters to actually win the battle.
-
It will be a stretch by Hara,if he takes out both of Ousen's right-hand and left-hand man(Makou is already gone) so early in the game and gives the command to Shin and Ouhan. Though it will pave the way for this generation to rise even quicker pace…
-
Wondering how depleted the Ou-sen army will be at the end of all this. So much for him becoming a King.
-
actually would be nice if ouhon would get command of the wing, and shin has learn to swallow his pride and follow orders (and even doing better then those orders)
-
To everyone's surprise, the author will pull a Ippo. Next chapter Shin, Ouhon and Kyokai are permanently crippled in battle and go on to live their lives as peasants. The manga becomes the story of how Riboku proceeded to conquer Quin and unify all 7 kingdoms.
(Come on! Ever since this Zhao conquest started it seems every other chapter something horribly backfires on the Quin armies. Are they ever going to achieve anything at all at this rate ?)
-
Guessing Hara felt that with Mouten turning the tables on Riboku on qin's left wing and Ouhon and Shin proving themselves capable on the right that things were going too swimmingly for Qin, so felt like he really needed to artificially raise the stakes by
- having all of Heki's food burn
- having Zhou food supplies outlast Qin food supplies
- fucking over the Akou army
Overall the pace of this battle just feels very uneven when you get some interesting shit happen and then whatever momentum gets built up gets smothered a few chapters later.
-
I dislike the author telling us in advance that stuff is about to backfire for the QIN
-
I think Riboku's talk with whatshisface alone would have been enough to bring some suspension.
This way, might as well say "things will backfire for Qin for a while, but then they'll recover somehow".
-
I dislike the author telling us in advance that stuff is about to backfire for the QIN
Same here, it will take away heavily from the impact whenever things start to go south…

It is for only creating some 'tension'.Eventually Qin will turn the tides, that's the fate.
I don't dislike it, but i feel it unnecessary. -
Liked this chapter. Shin was less dumbfounded by everyone and more focused and composed.
-
I liked the chapter and the banter between the two units. Somehow for quite a while these interactions felt more funny or meaningful then the One Piece ones.
With the proper fighting starting, next chapter will probably be boring/uneventful and I expect only the week afterwards to have some new development. Obviously, the huge downside of the Qin plan is that Akou has to hold back three divisions on his own. Sure, he may have been in a strong defensive position, but somehow the Qin side seems to have forgotten that he not only has to repulse them but also keep them busy.
It would be pretty fatal if two Zhao divisions pin him down and someone like Bananji goes around and falls into the back of Ouhon and Shin just as they are going for Gaku_eis head.I wonder if that is roughly what Riboku is planning, or if he does somehting will all his surplus numbers being lazy in the center.
-
I PREDICT ouhon will need to go support akou and shin will get to slay his man
-
Are we on a break week also because of golden week
-
I PREDICT ouhon will need to go support akou and shin will get to slay his man
Ok, then I predict it's going to be reverse. And Shin will get Bananji.
Not sure whether Akou lives or dies in the process. Maybe gets wounded? Just to make things a little different from the left wing.

Ah yes, I knew that orthopedics was the solution.
-
Meh is all i can say… Totally meh
-
Was hoping it was something more elaborate. And realistic.
And that it won't become completely useless once Bananji figures it out. Well, confirms what Riboku told him, anyway.
Where are the archers? What's the point of such an awesome defensive formation if you don't have archers picking off the chargers who are stopped in place?
-
Archers should be difficult to put in such formation. They can't be positioned in joint sections, as only strong infantry can cope with the pressure.Putting them at front will make them pretty useless. And finally if they were put at back, then there is good chance of their own men getting hit in the mille. Only from a high position like siege tower or mountain peak can they pin point the targets in this situation.
-
All they need is to shoot over their own ranks to hit the enemy that is in the middle or back of the formation. So the first line of the attack can't be reinforced properly. That's certainly nothing unmanageable. You could almost say it is as simple as protecting the HQ from sudden ambushes.
It's not like the archers have to be planted into ground. They can move a lot easier than soldiers in full armor and tower shields.
This way, Akou is starting to seem less of an intelligent strategist and more of a one trick pony copycat.
-
Ideas on how Akou gets out of this?
New chap is out
-
@They:
Ideas on how Akou gets out of this?
He doesn't ? I've read the chapter but can't figure what exactly it is that we're seeing.
! Is this Akou pincered by both Bananji and Gyou'un on the last page ? And old man Gunei getting cleaved in 2 right before that ?
-
Pretty much what you said in the spoiler.
Curious about Shin's behavior.
-
It would be great if Akou ducks and Bananji and Gyou'un hit each other.
-

Lol, that'd be quite the upset. I mean the way the top dogs slice through their opponents this should end in a brutal triple murder either way, haha.
-
I love that Hara didn't waste too much time on this.
Gyou'un seems to be suffering from the form of Houkenitis. Apparently no tactics or tricks work against him because he's just that strong, so fuck all. Don't really like the fact he can just breeze through the army to get into Akou's personal space.
Anyway, my bet is Ousen realized what was going to happen and did something. Riboku saw it, he should have seen it too.
The fact Bananji and Gyou'un are right upon Akou doesn't have to mean much. I mean we had spears already stabbing Banyou before Shin killed everyone holding them in one fell swoop.
-
We need somebody very strong to interfere in this battle though. I won't be surprised if Ouhon, who was stalled ,somehow managed to see Gyou'un advancing and actually switched his target.
-
Only if he took a small detachment and left the most of his force where they were. Hi Shin would be fucked if left completely on their own.
-
Well, Shin has Kyokai and plot armor . Or else we need Ousen himself to intervene at this point.
-
Like I said, I don't see Ousen falling that much behind Riboku when it comes to battlefield awareness.
Or maybe it's part of calculated risk from his side. So he can achieve some kind of advantage in middle or left later on. He's been suspiciously absent these last few chapters.
-
It has been a while since I post here, I have been keeping up to date, just distracted to put my thoughts down. Since last I was here, I remember there was a discussion about the 'genius tactic' that Yo Tan Wa presented them. I do not think it was meant to be displayed as such. I think the tone was: tomorrow is the last day we have to kill them, so there is no room to play it safe, we must make sacrifices. Moving on:
Chapter 553:
- Why does old man Enpo call Yo Tan Wa, Man-Tanwa? Everyone has been asking that since he started. Also, he said no right away, does he want to die?! I am expecting Orphan to try to make another move against Heki.
Chapter 554:
- I like what Heki and his army showed this chapter. Some good old fundamentals, that do not depend on an super elite soldier(like Gyou'un) to make it successful.
- Why is the ship between Kitari and Heki so strong?
Chapter 555:
- I wonder what Kanki is thinking. His conversation with his lieutenant confirms that the food storage from Zhao will outlast the Qin, so what is his plan? Or what is he expecting to happen so confidently?
- I was also not happy about the author giving us the result before we see it. But I guess it must defy some sort of expectation.
Chapter 556:
- I see no merit in Shin killing Gaku'Ei, he already killed the latter's master. It just seems like a step down from that. So I think that it will be Ou Hon that will get the kill.
- Glad to see Akou employing tactics.
Chapter 557:
- I am not sure how to feel about the weakness they were talking about. This is Akou's first time using the formation, how did Riboku know they would be using this one and that the weakness would be such? I think it would have been better if Riboku told them after, not before the fight. Maybe it is implied that Riboku told him after the start of the battle, but their conversation seemed to imply something different, not a counter to this specific tactic. Like, using the fact that Akou's men trample over their own allies to keep moving forward. I think a weakness related to that would have been better.
- I think I understand better, the joints are merely connecting each shells, once a shell is broken, the joints move accordingly to make a new shape.
Chapter 558:
- Damn Shin looking serious. As I was saying I do not find merit with him clashing with Gaku'Ei, but if in turn Shin cuts him down in one slash, I guess it would be okay. Although, I am far more intrigued by a matchup between Gaku and Ou Hon.
- Akou bob and weave! BOB AND WEAVE!
-
The match against Gaku'ei is for Shin to get real hang on Ouki's glaive. He seemed to be bit out of breath carrying that thing in the last chapter…
