Considering that they're nowhere close to conquering all of China just yet.
Probably more than just a couple years. And considering how long the war arcs are in this series, it's gonna be a long time.

Man I wish the scans would come out quicker - althought I'm greatful they do bulk releases. The anime is good but they seem to be rearranging a lot of things… don't flow as well as in the manga.
I haven't been following the anime, but don't they still have to cover like the palace girls and those smugglers who got Ei Sei out of Zhao in that flashback?
they on that arc now.

Seriously, c´mon, there are like 8 chapters released every week which is really fast in my book. If the "Turnip Farmers" group can keep up the pace, they should catch up to the raws in approx. half a year which is really impressive considering the large amount of chapters still waiting to be translated.
For how much longer do you guys think the manga will go on? From 351.
According to this article Kingdom has not even reached the halfway mark
He foresees "Kingdom" eventually spanning 70 to 80 volumes by the time it comes to an end. The author is also making strenuous efforts to create episodes taking place up to the unification of China under the rule of Qin.

That is true… although it's not 8 chapters every week... but beggars can't be choosers I suppose.
I guess I'm just upset that a manga this good has been neglected for so long.
I assume nobody has a link to the "Social Kingdom" projects' 26th volume of this manga?

Wow, that's awesome! xD
Thx.

This is great, thank you.
I hope the scanlators try to scan this as well, I would love to read both versions in English.
Today I started watching Kingdom anime! The manga scans reached the second season :)! The anime is really better than the first season, but they still have some bad CG, but right now is only in some places.
Who are the people that make the translations? I don't understand why they put the names in Chinese if in the anime the characters talk it in Japanese. Is really hard to me to keep up, because in the manga the names were in Japanese and in the subtitles I read a name, but hear they talking of other.
R.I.P Ouki!

Isn't it Kewl who does the trans for the anime? Probably basing it off of the Chinese pronunciation of the Kanji as aohige explained or something to that extent. Iunno, I read everything in the beginning with the Chinese names so it was never a problem for me until the scans only used Japanese names.
But Turnip Farmers has a spreadsheet of all the different names anyway: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0ApSEKDo9ekB8dHpQQjM0bjhMLUFoR2JYUi1vYzNKd3c#gid=0

This manga is SO damn good. This makes me really happy to know this.
I know everyone is saying this, but I'm so surprised that this manga hasn't exploded yet and became even bigger than it is now. I had no idea what I was missing.
The Riboku oneshot has been scanlated and posted to batoto: [http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/li-mu-r9692
J](http://www.batoto.net/comic/_/comics/li-mu-r9692)ust for reference, the whole thing uses the chinese names, so just keep that in mind, although the only ones that really matter in the story are Li Mu (Riboku) and Hai Yin (Kaine), as it chronicles Riboku's time in the northern lands before he goes on to slaughter the Xiongnu horsemen.
In Japanese threads, people call him Reebok. LOL
BTW, anyone knows how do the chinese (and other non-japanese asian people) feel about this manga? Seeing how some koreans are seeing japanese nationalistic supremacist extreme right agendas behind every mangaka, how do the rest of Asia feel about a japanese author telling the story of China's unification?
My first guess would be that they'd like it, seeing how respectful it is and how badass everyone portrayed is, but who knows. . .

i don't know about chinese, but from what i know (books, movie), there's a version that they slaughter every qin's people after successful rebellion in 2nd emperor's era (sei's son)…

Damn the lack of a successful anime…!
there's a lot of chinese tv series drama/action based on qin's unification and the 2nd emperor (with different version from history), i've been watching those in video cassette format/betamax machine since i was a kid… that makes me understand why kingdom's manga/anime didn't get too much attention for chinese (i'm indonesian)
if i'm not mistaken, jet lee's movie "Hero" take qin's theme too...

Yeah, basically Jet Lee is able to put the well-being of China above his own thirst for revenge after he understood that Zhao Zheng´s (later Qin Shi Huang) merciless behavior was not fueled by personal greed but by his wish to unify China and end the misery of war. Well, Hero was sometimes criticized because of the glorification but Ei Sei in Kingdom is pretty much the same.
Yeah but it also doesn't help that the animation for the anime is pretty bad.

true, but that movie is a famous one with qin's theme… can't remember any other movie got that attention with qin's theme... well, for me, qin dynasty is a tragic one, not a happy ending story.
Is the one-shot canon?
New chapters out
Jesus, i reacted to the conversation just like Shin, sitting on the edge of my seat. Just as i suspected, Riboku will play a huge role in the story, probably as frontier Shin will have to overcome. I just love when characters can keep their calm and think very quickly and rationally when everyone else is losing it.
Politics and war are what Kingdom does best, and the last of these three chapters gave an excellent dose of one, or both even.
I really hope this manga maintains this level of quality for a while. I do worry about any coming war arc though, there'll need to be something to distinctly spice up warfare so they don't feel like repeats of the last two wars. I don't suppose Quin had a navy, historically speaking?
Somebody told me that the scanlation of the manga seemed to have caught up with the second season of the anime, more or less, so i watched the first two episodes. Both episodes were really good, so i am probably going to keep watching them after the respective chapters get released.

E](http://www.batoto.net/read/_/185933/kingdom_v17_ch177_by_turnip-farmers)ven more chapters were released.
As someone who just caught up to Kingdom, this fast release rate is brilliant.
I still could not believe that a manga of this calibre remained inconspicuous to majority of online scanlators and to most mangareaders outside Japan in general for such a long length of time.
Turnip farmers is really fast on their releases for Kingdom, 8 chapters per week! Damn they must either have a lot of staff, time or probably both. I can't wait for the English scans to be on par with the raws that I saw on senmanga….Damn Qin COUNTERATTACK!!!
Your patience will be surely tested when a heated battle comes up. :( I wish other groups will form an alliance with turnip farmers and scanlate more chapters.
^I recommended it multiple times, but it wasn't until the anime aired that people actually took notice.
I'll refrain from spamming "I told you so". :ninja:
Actually, I think it was being translated in Chinese, naturally, and had a decent following there.
Those folks don't seem to come out of baidu much tho.
Well there's that and that the series hasn't been seriously scanlated otherwise til this year.
But yes… you can say "I told you so" :ninja:
SPOILER ALERT! Do not click the link unless you have read vol. 26

*It is actually fun to watch the Social Kingdom project one more time now that I know who the characters are…most of the redrawn panels are really hilariously outrageous the one with otakus on it had me in stitches all night...hehe
Posted a page back with specific points as to where contributions are by people of interest like Oda and Araki
Oda, Kishimoto, Araki are given
But also Inoue (Slam Dunk, Vagabond), and uber veteran Hiroshi Motomiya (you guys probably won't recognize his works, but he's one of the huge bigshot veterans in seinen manga industry) had panels as well.
Turnip Farmers are only 2 guys unless it has changed. And anime aims at making the manga more famous so it works with scanlation too. Magi scan were boosted by the anime too.
Saw those prominent panels already long ago but what Im on to right now are the panels done by non familiar folks, Im still looking at the panels piece by piece since I last posted that message….man there are some funny versions in there...hahaha...Granny Gramps combo still makes me laugh whenever I remember them...hehe
182, 183, 184 are out at Batoto …the bonus squad leader contest was funny.
Shousa/Chousa watever his name is...must be the most laid back character in this manga series. Hehe
I am excited to see how the historical events will unfold
Can anyone share some light on this chinese general named Wang Yi? I'm just curious of how he became Ou Ki's template.
I feel like going on a new manga binge for the first time in a while, and I've been eyeing Kingdom ever since I heard Aohige first hype it some time ago. I have just one question before I start: How does this compare to The Ravages of Time. That one is a masterpiece, and even though Kingdom's style and target audience is vastly different (at least from what I have gathered) it might be wise to contrast the two before I start expecting too much and find myself disappointed.
Any opinions?

I would say the most significant difference is that Kingdom is a much more personal account of a specific part of Chinese history while Ravages of Time is a partly fictional record of the turbulent times that lead up to the Three Kingdoms, meaning Kingdom uses the setting and the background of China´s unification by Qin to tell how 2 specific characters rise up and achieve their respective dream.
I don´t think it´s really a matter of quality but rather of preference. Sometimes, Kingdom gives off a little shounenesque vibe, especially with its protagonist Xin.
185 - 187 are out. It looks like the scans have finally caught up with (or passed) the anime.

Despite the similar setting, the two series are very different in scope and tone. The main cast of Kingdom is pretty small, so there is much more focus on the characters and their development. RoT (which has a freaking huge cast and no real main character or faction) is truly epic in scope and focuses more on events rather than the characters.
I'd say that the main similarity is in how well the battle elements are done both series. Kingdom doesn't have the "badass general taking on 10,000 mooks" thing that always happens in RoT, but a lot of attention is paid to the actual battles (tactics/strategy) themselves.
As MiyamotoMusashi said, Kingdom has a lot more shonen elements than RoT, but this is not really a bad thing. Best thing of all: you wont have to do any homework to appreciate it fully (you know what I mean).
Read 188, checked Wikipedia…
! Apparently the real Sei goes on a massacre after the Chancellor hooks up the Queen Dowager with another man with whom she has two children (in secret). The man later attempts a coup so Sei kills the man, his half-brothers, imprisons his mother under house arrest until her death, and the Chancellor commits suicide.
Sounds like this is going to get a lot more interesting if the author aims for historical accuracy.
No idea how they are going to do this. I am gonna be neutral but i suspect that the mangaka showed us their relationship too early, unless he changes some historical facts.
Is the anime any good? I feel like I'm reading too many mangas, so for once I'd like to try the anime instead. Do anyone know the chapter/episode pace?

Approx 3 chapters per episode seems to be a roughly correct estimation
Second season is really good, first not so much

I'm really really tempted to take a crack at this.
I'm really really tempted to take a crack at this.
One Piece (weekly)
Vagabond (just started it)
Onepunch-Man (the one by One)
AssClass (just started)
Vinlard Saga (just started)
Shamo (just started)
Dorohedoro (re-started)
It's not my fault I'm not popular (almost reached the latest released chapter)
Gintama (only watched the anime, so I wanted to try the manga)
I am a hero (just started, not liking it so much though).
It may not be a shitload, but it still is a lot for me.
@Musashi: Thanks, buddy.
