Alright, put me down for three Strategists, six Barbarians, and a Master Lord.

All the classes video, gief lotz of Battle monks pls :P
Famitsu gave the game a 9
Some thoughts about the classes:
-I wish since they gave Armor Knights the ability to use Axes from the start with Lances in the similar way Cavaliers use Swords and Lances.
-I'm intrigued by promoted Thieves being able to use Bows and Staves now. Will probably stick with Assassins.
-Don't really like that Falcon Knights are stuck with Staves instead of being able to choose between them or Swords. Well, I usually am more for Wyverns, anyways.
-Speaking of, I think since Gryphon Knights only use Axes, they might have some skill or critical increase to make up for that.
-So, Dark Knights are just Jugdral Mage Knights with a new name and appearence? That's fine, just thought it was something related to Dark Mages.
Anyways, that's just me.

Second DLC with Roy and Leaf:
http://www.nintendo.co.jp/3ds/afej/dlc/dlc_0426.html#dlc0426b -
Roy looks a little… different
--- Update From New Post Merge ---
I want the next batch to be lyn and ephraim. And then Ike and Micahia as i assume they are doing main characters first. I don't want Eliwood if we have roy. Hector would be cool but i prefer lyn and erika is just another lord class. At least ephraim was a different kind of lord. I don't mind elincia instead of micahia either

I was looking at the Boss Data over at Serenes Forest and
! Correct me if I'm wrong, but are the twelve bosses minus Inverse in Chapter 22 the same as the Twelve Dark Warlords from Genealogy of the Holy War? Have the same names.
-
don't no. I've stopped looking at info about this game so i don't spoil myself. I'm only looking at DLC
-
ive only played 2 fire emblem games.
Fire Emblem 6 and FE7.
i didn't know what to expect going into FE6 because i had never played a Tactical RPG before or since.! my god was that game hard, numerous characters died and i just barely was able to defeat the dragon at the end thanks to hector.
i am yet to complete FE7 but so far no1 has died and ive maxed out a couple chars properly (in FE6 i used to upgrade them at lvl 10 like a noob)
however overall i think that FE7 is easier.had no idea they were making one for 3ds until i saw this topic too bad i don't own a 3ds v_v
-
Which one is 7 & 6. Is 7it lyn eliwood and hector and is 6 roy and liliana. If so 6 is so much harder. However 7 was my first and favourite

lyn eliwood hector marcus = FE7 (hard)
eirika ephraim ross seth = FE8 (easy)i got it all muddled up i havent played 6 therefore roy and liliana = FE6 (no NA ver)
-
I havn't finishd 6 yet for two reasons. the story's not as good as the others and it is a lot harder than the others. Sacred stones was easy though, the only easier one being shadow dragon
-
Sacred Stones was pretty easy, if only for the ability to level grind, and kinda short. Not that many characters either.
However, I still liked it because it brought back some unique ideas like trainee classes, monsters, a traversiable world map, a non-Dragon final boss and also branching classes, and the first-ever Lance-exclusive Lord among other things.
-
Sacred Stones is a good place for newcomers to start, however, it is one of the very few games that plays the way it does, with a world map.
The game helps and hinders new players to some extent.
-
Did we just forget about this?
Anyway, a free demo's going to be available for download on the 17th.
-
Sweetness! I was a bit worried after we didn't get the last Fire Emblem game, but oh man, I'm really looking forward to this.
-
And the FE Awakening demo is out, in NA at least
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Just tried playing the demo on lunatic difficulty- my ass was handed to me on the prologue
-
Marth sounds like a chick, which is kinda amusing. Weird they didn't let you play classic mode. Also the 3D murdered my eyes.

I played the demo, and I'm very impressed with how polished it looks and sounds, and at the amount of options it looks like the game gives you as you progress. Since I've never played a Fire Emblem game before I went with Normal mode, which I suspect is actually Easy since I expected the enemies to dish out a little more than scratch damage. But it is only the beginning after all. I'm looking forward to playing the final version come February.
I'm disappointed that the demo didn't allow you to customize your character.
-
I wonder if they pulled the bullshit they did with Radiant Dawn and made Japanese "Hard" mode into American "Normal" mode.
-

Damn game comes out here in April I believe no demo yet :(, turn it off I haven't used it since I bought the system.
As for Marth don't read the spoiler if you don't want to be spoiled.
! Its not actually him.
-
Normal difficulty was pretty easy from the demo. Hard was significantly more challenging and actually required some more strategy in keeping my characters alive although I beat both stages without a loss (which is good considering I plan on playing classic mode). Lunatic difficulty was evil and killed me quickly during the prologue. I don't even want to think about the unlockable lunatic+ difficulty. I heard that in that difficulty the prologue has an enemy with a hammer than can one shot your paladin

So Frederick's the Titania/Sothe/Seth/Jagen of this game, can't wait to retire him after chapter five.

Can't wait to get home and try out demo.
But yea I hate how Fire Emblem games always toss you some upgraded unit at the start. It's so dumb, they are just overpowered and clear board easily by self without needing any help or healing. But this prevents you from leveling up anyone else on your team so you end up just hiding him in a corner. Or really you just abuse him/her if you can. You know the whole "hmm i will ALMOST kill him with her/him, so you attack, then let your weak guys finish the guy off"
Even then I would prefer to have two weak guys gang up versus using the power guy, cause a weak person gets like 1/3 a level from just attacking in the beginning.

One thing you can do in awakening is pair him up with other units. Only the main unit will usually attack (although there is a chance the other will join in and thus get xp too) but it will increase the main unit's stats. you'll also get an occasional guard from the paired unit. Just note that if you want even the slightest hope on lunatic difficulty, you need to abuse the hell out of the paladin. (and thats if you want a chance, I've tried a ton of times and I still can't beat lunatic difficulty on even the prologue)

Whats the save situation?
I recall in the Wii fire emblem you could save whenever and wherever. This made it almost too cheap, cause you could save right before any time you leveled and thus get near perfect level all the tiem if you invested any time in reseting over and over.
But then again I would like to have at least a mid-way point save. Nothing worse than being on a map for over and hour and ending with some super weak ass leveling like no stats or just hp or something on a couple guys. Makes you want to restart it soo bad, yet hate to redo a whole level for just that.

You can save whenever you want in casual mode, but not classic. That said the demo doesn't allow saving at all
-
What is casual mode?
There is most likely
Easy
Normal
Hard
ect.Where does casual mode fit in?
Can you change difficulty at all or only before you start?
-
Casual isn't a difficulty level, it's a mode with no permadeath and as I mentioned, you can save anytime. The difficulties are normal, hard, lunatic, and lunatic+ (WHich is only available on a new game+) . If my experience with lunatic proves anything, Lunatic+ is going to be a hell from which the only escape is death. I don't think you can change either setting after you start the game

My heart bleeds that I won't be able to play this for what maybe ever…
nintendo region lock cursing and ranting

what? where do you live? NA gets it on Feb 4th, Europe gets it in April. and of course Japan already has it.

It's rather a matter of me trying my best not to support nintendo with their stupid region lock. When, if ever we'll get a region unlocked 3ds I'm fine but as a multilingual person and as a person trying to learn japanese I can't justify putting down money on the region locked 3ds.
I'm a EU resident so which one would I even get? The american one since eu has been getting shafted for a lot of releases be it the speed or the actual release.
If I get an american one I'm stuck with importing and sometimes abyssmal shipping fees. Should I get the japanese one? Since that would ensure me pretty much getting every game as early as possible, but then again stuck with importing and I'm not at a level yet where I can comfortably play everything in japanese. Get the EU one for comfort and just hope for the best? Also getting either a NA or EU one would bar me away from potential japan only releases, and if the game is interesting enough I'm willing to spend the time and energy to work my way through it and learn some stuff as an added bonus.I'm also definitely not putting money done for multiple 3ds…
Nope every choice seems crappy to me... -
After not getting Secrets of the New Emblem I'm just glad we're getting this game at all.
-

-
Just played the demo. Really enjoyed it. I'm just so glad we're finally getting another FE game.
When the game does come out, I think I'm actually going to play it on casual mode first since just once I'd like to have a comparatively relaxing play where I don't have to worry about losing my units. After that I'll definitely do a run in regular permadeath mode.
-
Okay, the first map on Hard wasn't very difficult either, but the second one got hairy towards the end when the enemy decided to start ganging up on certain characters. Then I tried Lunatic and…
!
When it comes to the final release I'll probably use Normal for my first run with a guy and then go Hard with a girl (huuhuuhuu) and just use a coin flip to decide whether I'll go Casual or Classic.
-
I did a quick run on hard of the demo. I like Fire Emblem games (and strategy in general) but haven't honestly played many. The concept of being able to keep characters when they die just stunned me, because FE has always been the franchise I thought of for the opposite.
Anyway, I really liked it. I think I'll have to pick this one up. I don't know if a casual FE run appeals to me or not. We'll see when the time comes I suppose.
-
I got around to trying the Lunatic mode. That's some Fire Emblem 5 bullshit right there.
@Cyan:
So Frederick's the Titania/Sothe/Seth/Jagen of this game, can't wait to retire him after chapter five.
He's actually supposed to be an Oifaye, meaning he's useful if you use him.

The isea behind the early-game pre-premote is usually is if you get overwhelmed, to have him on the side of your forces to help kill them off, and to be the meat shield for archers and clerics.
-
I think the Fire Emblem guys wanted all of the characters to be useful this game, instead of handing you 20 or so units you would never use unless you really liked them a lot, so Frederick is actually decent.
-

Yeah, you could see like in Akaneia games there were like 11 cavaliers alone, and like four or so paladins. Nowadays, it seems like just a Myrmidon, just a Mercenary, but more useful.
I still wish there was a Barbarian, though. I'll probably reclass Henry into one, but still.
-
Well I managed to beat the demo on Hard without anyone dying, so that's an accomplishment for this Fire Emblem newb. You really have to mind Lissa though, since the enemy loves ganging up on her the instant they can. There was a scary moment in the first map when Garrick got a critical on the Avatar, but he hung on my the skin of his teeth and Chrom finished him off. Looked good.
-
I just like how healers get 25 exp. for healing instead of 10-12. Takes out the annoying part of grinding for them.
-

While once he/she does level up more, he/she does improve a lot, but the Strategist in the early levels is less "Mercenary with magic" and more "Mage with sword", as the Strategist is pretty squishy at first.
-
Can anybody explain why they went Kunta Kinte on everybody (cut their feet off for those not familiar with Roots). Other than that the demo's left me wanting more and hopefully I'll get it come next Sunday.
-
The review embargo has been lifted for those interested. The reviews seem to be very positive right now
–- Update From New Post Merge ---
Oh yeah, on an additional note, I've heard reports of gamestops breaking street date in canada

Game Stop appears to be taking preorders again too. I decided to cancel my backordered Best Buy preorder and go with them since there's a Game Stop right near my college.
