Chapter 666: Yeti Cool Brothers
-
Monet next crew member:ninja:

Yeah, we only saw his back… If he'd turned around so we could see his face, we'd know for certain.
It's not like he ate some Devil Fruit that lets him change his appearance at any time he wants. :getlost:
I wonder if he'd get a visible scar that wouldn't go away if he got hit by a haki attack.

@HTC:
There's always the possibility that there are 5 different types of flying enabling DFs but there could also be variations within those 5 types.
Think of Lucci and Jyabura (SP?): both inu inu no mi DFs but different models (leopard and wold, respectively).
lucci ate the neko neko no mi model: leopard , with mone/t what about the bird people race in strong world? that had feathery arms and could fly
@HTC:
You are correct: my bad.
Just checked.
I knew i had seen 2 models of the same fruit somewhere: The dog-gun's DF, from Arabasta, is from the inu inu no mi family and so is Jyabura's DF.
I had just given the wrong example

It is actually possible, because losing all of your limbs (if that's what happened), would make for a pretty tragic past.
Also, having to work for CC in the first place, is pretty bad. Too bad she's a carbon copy of Robin with Nami's looks. -
killing one of the main rival of the protagonist just like that would be awesome! /sarcasm
btw, does anyone else think that law switch smoker's heart with somebody else's heart before giving it to ceasar? IIRC law left the room before coming back again to gave ceasar the heart. why didnt he gave it first time around instead of carrying it out and into the room again before giving it.
I stated the exact theory last chapter. Anyways I think a good way to find out is for cc to stop the heart.
Edit:you do realize cc is supposed to be an antagonist right? If he's given permission to get rid of his enemies and has the perfect opportunity he should. The only thing I see stopping him right now is being distracted by the sh or something. Maybe even waiting until the perfect time to make the attempt.

The thing is that people have been saying that phrase ever since she appeared, and it happens for pretty much every new character that is introduced.

is quite obvious CCs and Monet
s relationship is way closer to Croco
s and Miss All Sunday…He
s constantly looking after her and seems to be happier when she
s around. He totally trusts her and whatever she says. If anything they are more like siblings or husband and wife. You can clearly see there´s trust from both sides. -
I think the drugged candy cc gave to the children is the same rumble ball candy oda just invented to correct his mistake about chopper transformations. (obviously, only cc's ones are drugged)
sbs vol 66:
- Oda-sensei, Chopper said the he only needs the rumble ball for one form, and can change to the other six at will. Guard Point is included in that, right? Because in Volume 62, Chopper ate a rumble ball and turned into Guard Point. Why is that? Please tell me.
- Right. In Volume 65 we learned that using a rumble ball, Chopper can fight in his monster form. This means he doesn't need a rumble ball for the other forms!
- In Volume 62, before turning into Guard Point, Chopper ate something that looks like a rumble ball, which the evolved Chopper shouldn't need. Of course I know that's a rumble ball candy, which is very popular right now, but the average reader wouldn't know that, and might mistake it for an actual rumble ball. Stop confusing us, Chopper!
- Damn you, Chopper! Because of you there were a lot of comments from readers about that panel. Do you think you should be eating candy at the bottom of the sea? But speaking of which, here are the current seven forms of Chopper:
Brain Point, Walk Point, Heavy Point, Guard Point, Kung Fu Point, Horn Point (transforms at will anytime - sometimes craves rumble ball candy)
Monster Point (using rumble ball - lasts 3 minutes)What about Jump and Arm point?
-
What about Jump and Arm point?
Apparently been fused to form Kung Fu Point, or something along the lines. I'm still disappointed that Chopper's initial 7 controlled+Monster form have been reduced to 7 overall, INCLUDING MP… Oh well.
Edit: I mean, of course I agree that mastering control over Monster Point is a great feat and so on, but from where I stand, there's no logic behind just seemingly "forgetting" a whole form when he's previously been able to have one more.

He didn't forget a point of transformation. He combined two, obviously so he wouldn't have to switch between jumping and arm point. That's logic if you ask me.

Not the point I was making. If you had the potential to transform into 7 different forms, each with their own strengths, and most of them evolving with his 2-year training, PLUS an all-out monster going berserk which you can now control - why'd you lose one of the original forms. You have the potential for 8 full transformations, so why lose one.
-
Ever since the crew entered the New World, the chapters felt somewhat more mature (we still have our gorgeous comedic moments, mind you) and this chapter was the same. Great read:
- the Yeti Cool brothers are fuckin' amazing so far to put it bluntly. It's still too early to say that but I bet they make for some formidable opponents
- so that's what Law and CC's relationship is about. Not very surprising considering Caesar's cruel personality and Law's way of benefiting from various situations
- Yeti Cool brothers v2: they simply vanished when Luffy tried to attack them? Huge and unbelievably fast? Awesome
- Oh Monet! Like many of you I've already fallen in love with her character. She's so intriguing and her background-story- honestly I'd be satisfied with any kind of story involving her- will be nice for sure
The cliffhanger was a good one as well, albeit a little bit expected. Law's got a good heart in my opinion and that will show in the chapters to come.

My mistake! Maybe i'm slow, but what form did he forget exactly? / He may have had ot forget one to be able to master his monster point?
-
The only thing is, Law has been on PH for 2 years now (or was that Caesar? Don't rememeber when he arrived exactly, but the flashback had a black background so it was a while ago). If his crew is still alive that's a particularly inefficient disease, isn't it. I am wondering if his crew isn't just gone altogether.
Monet to me seems like typical fanboy bait. Every other post about her is how "hot" she is or something of that nature.
The problem with the other things you list is that we simply aren't given enough information about Law's/Caesar's plans or the Yetis to make anything other than wild guesses for now.
Problem with those is people tend to cling to their own theories when there aren't any facts to the contrary, and start stupid arguments.Think a little, and you will see that he has not be on that island for 2 years.
He even might have gotten there a few days ago.–- Update From New Post Merge ---

He forgot Jump and Arm point like i said before and he probably forgot his strongest pre-timeskip attack.
-
He forgot Jump and Arm point like i said before and he probably forgot his strongest pre-timeskip attack.
He didn't forget them though! he merged them together..It's way more convenient in every way. he has the agility of his jumping point and and strength of his arm point, without having to switch back and forth, still having that same move most likely. He didn't forget anything.
-
Wat ? So far Monet has nothing more interesting about her than Blackbeard I'm sorry.
It depends on the respective person to deem something interesting or not. If you'd like to put her on the same level as Blackbeard then go ahead; couldn't care less. But I still find Monet to be a fascinating character so far and won't stop doing that. :3
-
I don't understand why people are saying the Yeti Cools are fodder.
Seriously, they are synchronized, fast (Soru level it seems), and huge (so strength is there).
CC said he might be going overboard sending them, and that is AFTER he was told the SHs are probably stronger than their current bounties show.Monet is overhyped here, but there is still some interesting aspects to her character. She doesn't seem quite as cold as CC,
granted she is still seems bad, she did ask Law if he could help the prisoners. I do wonder how she became acquainted with CC.Are people saying BlackBeard isn't interesting? Because there are still a lot of questions I want to see answered about him.

I dont know if this was already covered, but mangareader and mangastream translation are very different in what Law says to CC about not talking to Joker: In Mangastream's version Law tell CC he is not going to inform to Joker about CC's toys; while in mangareader's version Law asks CC not to tell about him being in PH. Which translation is correct? Can anybody help me with this?
-
Is it just me or does Oda have a fetish with long wavy hair these days? I swear Monet's hair is exactly like Nami's.

This only makes sense in Pokemon.

This only makes sense in Pokemon.
If Pokemon could freely evolve and devolve between their evolutions it would make sense.
But, I took back what I said in the above post. I don't consider combining 2 transformation points to be "forgetting" anything.–--

ONE PIECE 666 RAW
Thanks as always.
Hopefully C3 will find time to translate the whole thing. At the moment so many lines in the chapter are vague/ambiguous that I'm already looking forward to a clear and qualitative translation. -
The Yeti Cool brothers seem like a good challenge, I imagine if you're going to be an assassin/bounty hunter in the New World, you better be pretty god damn strong.
-
What an interesting chapter. I guess these Yeti Brothers arwe going to be a big threat if they beat Zoro, the second strongest in the team (in my opinion). I wonder if they'll get some damage in on Luffy as well.
This was a great setup chapter. We now confirmed Law is not exactly chummy with CC and he may help the Straw Hats down the line. I kind of felt bad for Brownbeard a bit, despite him being such an idiot. CC's also really shaping up to be a good villain, since Oda's already made me hate his guts. And then Franky will play a role in this arc as I had hoped, seeing as this is all related to Vegapunk. I really want some more info on what Franky learned. Of course the fact that Nami is in his body makes it even better. Then there's Chopper who is established to have a big role in this arc as well. Things are looking very good. This is so much better than Fishman Island for me.
-
As for chopper losing two of his points it could be because the rumble ball deals with the "wavelengths" of the DF and maybe there is only so many wavelengths a DF user or Zoan DF user can control/use without dying? Just a suggestion, the Yeti Cool Brothers look cool but I don't like that they need big effin cannons if they are assassins. Also they are subordinates to CC so Luffy should make quick work of them. I mean the only reason he took so long to beat Hody is because Hody had 3 distinct advantages 1) underwater, good for Hody, weakens Luffy greatly 2) Hody had undergone a transformation 3) Hody kept healing himself temporarily w/ ES giving him more strength. In an on land 1 on 1 fair fight w/ no distinct advantages Luffy would have one with one hit. Luffy is now on land so he can use his attacks at full power, which in a weaken state owned the Kraken and Hody. My point is I don't want the Yeti Cool Brothers to give the monster trio trouble or that would be too OP. Not saying the New World shouldn't be hard but CC should be the first difficult fight for Luffy being a logia in the NW (Caribou was a rookie).
All things considered Law as a Shichibukai with mysterious motives, the enigma of Joker, CC's plans, Kinemon and his son, and Harpe along with the island being a Vegapunk ex-lab & the battle sight of Akainu & Aokiji have made this arc very good and it promises to be better. I just am not a fan of the abilities of the Yeti Cool Brothers, maybe Oda will change my mind but atm they seem OP and pointless.
-
Just because they are subordinates to CC doesn't mean they'll be out the picture quickly. They seem to be killers for hire, so CC's power level is irrelevant when judging their potential as they'd probably work for someone far weaker than them if they're paying good cash. Also they could be crazy strong and just not have haki, so CC will always be better than them even though against anyone but logias they'd kick ass.
I think these guys will be a physical challenge and CC will be a more psychological challenge. Mangastreams translation says that the candy is filled with a hallucinogen gas, if that's the case then I imagine that CC's strength comes from his gasses being able to mess with peoples heads. Also if he can produce different gasses then he could produce nerve gas, sleeping gas or even lower oxygen levels in a room to lower his opponents performance (this would be good against Luffy's gear 2, even if his blood is pumping faster than normal, he won't have as much oxygen in his blood and his muscles won't work as well).

I am not sure what you mean by no distinct advantages in terms of environment. During the Drum arc even Sanji commented how difficult it was to move in deep snow, so I imagine with the Yetis being large and accustomed to the environment, the snow will be a disadvantage. Not too mention there are two of them. I can't see why underlings in the new world can't still be powerful. Hell Lucci was Spanda's underling, and there was no question he was more powerful than Spanda.
-
I like how New World is dark not only on words, but in action too. Kids being drugged, people getting gassed and now a side character getting shot point blank to death. It really shapes a proper atmosphere, even more through the contrast to overall One Piece feel of a quite sunny story. This way these events stand out even more.
I'm happy bounty hunters are finally introduced in a proper way. It was about time for strong headhunters to appear - someone must be interested in catching pirates while not being a Marine. And despite Luffy's fame he is not a real threat in the eyes of CC - also a nice touch to the powers of everyone in this ocean.
Wonder how Law will get out of all this mess - he can't lose his status so soon.
Good times, good times. -
Is mangastream back? great scan as usual but as some some people said the translation is not the same
-
New chapter was good, although I will admit it felt a tad bit messy with everything going on in it.
I'm glad to see that Bon-chan is still in action, although I didn't mind him dying as it made his self-sacrifice hold more of an impact, and I considered him to have died, despite the low fatality rate of non-background/fodder characters. Still, great to see he's alive still (though his hidden face raises questions–perhaps its either serious build-up for later story events, or just build-up for a gag on the next chapter cover.)
Caesar is starting to seem kind of bland and, as others have commented, Law and Monet seem to be the more interesting characters for this arc. Hopefully CC steps his game up and gets more interesting as the Big Bad of this arc (I doubt Joker will show up/be unveiled until a later story arc.)
DEM YETIS MAN. DEM F--KING YETIS. Finally, New World Era enemies that aren't complete pushovers! With that size, speed (and strength too, I'm assuming) as well as DEM GUNS, I think that they will make for some formidable enemies.
Anywho, can't wait for next week's chapter.
A side thought that is off topic somewhat:
-I still wonder what Buggy's been up to. That letter he got from the WG after the Marineford War makes me feel that he's possibly a Warlord of the Sea, though I have doubt for that as he was a member of the Pirate King's crew. Hope to see him sometime in the New World, possibly stronger.
Actually another side-thought/comment that's pretty off-topic:
-Any wonders as to what Vegapunk looks like? Perhaps there's a chance him and Caesar possibly have a similar theme/motif?
Before CC even showed up, I always imagined him as an old dude (with wrinkles around the mouth and eyes) that had spiked up pink hair (think along the lines of Super-Saiyan styled haircuts). Its pretty far-fetched, but his name just gave an image like that to my brain.
How old is Vegapunk supposedly anyways? Have any clues ever been given? I'm assuming he's around CC's age, and CC looks to be past 30.
Just so many questions surrounding this mystery man!! And CC's appearance is making me anticipate his unveiling even more!!
-
Dunno if I'm assuming to much but in this page : http://www.mangareader.net/one-piece/666/6 Monet is seen with a harpy themed pen, so I think she probably is a df user. Despite this it's always possible that she had some obsession with winged animals and thus asked law to give her the wings etc. :/
Sorry but no. That is the type of pen they use in OP. Its the only style of ppen seen when someone is writing. Think of it like a quill one would see in Harry potter fic, instead of a single feather, its like a little wing.
I think people give Pell way too much credit. He is no Crocodile who knows shitloads about devil fruits, for example.
There might be 5 flying type fruits listed in the devil fruit book - but that (as we know) means nothing. See the 2 unknown fruits consumed by Kalifa and Kaku.
If Oda intends to introduce more than 5, he will (and I hope this goes for Monet).
I'm also extremely in love with Monet atm, such a great character… and I admit I already wish she would join next.
Job on the crew? She will replace Zoro on the observation deck!I agree that Oda can indroduce more if he wants to, after all it was a character that said that about flying types, and as we've seen with Jabra, characters can have the wrong info.
I agree that she would do a better job than Zoro…okay everyone on the crew does a better job than Zoro as he sleeps or focus on training LOL But we've seen she has great eye sight for long range.I don't like the idea of 2 different Mythical Tori Tori no Mi. Plus, like I said before, flying creatures aren't limited to birds (bats, dragons, pterodactyls).
Of course, this is all assuming that a harpy would be part of the Tori Tori class, but even if she was part of the Hito Hito class instead, we already have Sengoku filling the spot of Mythical Hito Hito.
I do not think that a Harpy would fit into Mythical Hito Hito. In mythology, the harpy is seen as a totally different race than humans, like hoe mermaids were seen as a different race. So I doubt the harpy would be grouped under as a mythical human.
@HTC:
I knew i had seen 2 models of the same fruit somewhere: The dog-gun's DF, from Arabasta, is from the inu inu no mi family and so is Jyabura's DF.
I had just given the wrong example
Irony is that to date, there are no less than 5 examples(thought it was 4 until someone reminded us that newest one was just introduced on the covers in the mini "From the Decks of the World") of Inu Inu no Mi. In order of apperance:
Chaka - Jackal
Lassoo - Dashound
Jabra- Wolf
Vic-Admiral Dalmation - Dalmation
Minochihuahua - chihuahua -
Hell Lucci was Spanda's underling, and there was no question he was more powerful than Spanda.
Very true, I anticipate the cool brothers to be on par with Cesar as far as power goes. The cool brothers have already established themselves as a threat capable of leaving Luffy in the dust, and CC will probably use extremely underhanded weapons of mass destruction during his combat moments (probably amplifying his DF like Enel). I foresee this Joker acting as a Spanda, for all the hype on his character I think Joker is Buggy.
There is also a high probability that Joker is working in G-5, witch makes me wonder what G-5 even looks like. How many marines are based on G-5? How far into the new world is G-5? Is Smoker really the leader of G-5 or is it a large fleet with multiple ragtag marine groups with Disgraced Vice Admirals at the helm?
-
i didn't like mangastreams translation. Mangapandas is more like the spoiler and at some points the context is off on mangastreams

I can't explain it but i'm fascinated with monet as well. I would love to see her join (mainly because there'd be another girl to their manly crew) but only really if it's a devil fruit power rather than law magic.
I think they are/were assassins for higher who live on punk hazard in the employment of Caesar to get rid of powerful intruders
-
Just to point out, Chopper needed the rumble balls pre-timeskip to use all 4 "additional" transformations (and monster).
So he hasn't 'really' forgotten any (since he could not use them "naturally") as far as he's gained the ability to use 4 additional transformations at will.
(maybe a single rumble ball could theoretically give him arm and jumping point again if needed but he thinks kung-fu is just as good and doesn't need drugs…. also sounds cooler).
They're my thoughts on that anyway.
Also ; Instead of Monet, as i'm in the "Law did it" camp when it comes to her appearance, what about Monet's glasses ..... having a DF??? (info info no me?? anyone see what I'm getting at) [only a joke if it turns out to be untrue :D]

would be cool if she had an ancient zoan type model archeopteryx and only used her wings instead of full body transformation

I think it's 'Loch' because that's Scottish for 'lake' and his brothers called 'Scotch', which is the name for Scottish whiskey. Like 'Loch Ness'. Scotland's pretty cold, too.
Thought they were laying Caesar's evil on a bit thick there what with the whole Brownbeard massacre up there. Yeti bros.'re cool as fxck though. I hope Nami works out how to actually beam some shxt.
-
OK, yes, that would be waaaay cooler
-
Just crossed my mind, if Monet asked Law for wings couldn't he just put them on her back instead of replacing her arms?
-
i'd figure that the yeti brothers are about par with pre-ts luffy, so a good tag team fight for zoro/sanji, they're probably well known in the NW as bounty hunters (fingers crossed) so smoker being there and probably witnessing what happens will merit a bounty boost for them. I guess that leaves Luffy vs cc, hard to tell what law's role will be in all this, perhaps he'll save the kids, operating on their malfunctioning organs because of the drugs. Or maybe CC will turn into a buggy character when law swaps luffy's and his hearts around.( gomu gomu no…. gas clouddd)
and if law is the cause of her wings, how could she use them if she didn't have them hooked up to her arm slots? i doubt he can create new muscles to make them move.
-
maybe there's a bird somewhere running around with arms?
