I'm with you on thinking soma could be too pretty much just off the back of these spoiler images appearing so early. kinda glad it isn't, just cause i feel the big 3 raws come out way too early, but it'd at least be nice to see internet response be great enough that soma's held in the same regard, huh

This part, I wasn't serious , just complaining for the heck of it so in that sense I hope people can stop discussing it.
Educating me on why the raws aren't as fast rather feels like being educated on the logistics of train scheduling after complaining about why the train is 5 minutes late.

The dormmates grow their own crop here to use in their cooking.
Megumi's cooking skills are finally shown, she makes some excellent onigiri
She doesn't perform well at school because she's too shy and intimidated to perform in front of many.
! The first graders (Soma, Erina, Megumi, etc) have to go to a class school trip.
This is the first "trials" freshmen have to face, and about half of them will fail.
Anyone who don't pass the rigorous cooking tests at the trip will be sent home and expelled.
Megumi is already frightenend, but Soma doesn't seem worried in the least.
Isshiki-senpai believes all the dormmates will survive this trip and return home safely.

No, it never did. The closer it did was 2 color pages over 3 chapters (ex : 9-11, 20-22, 169-171). Besides One Piece, I don't remember the last time something like that happened.

Badly drawn…BADLY DRAWN?! What shonen comics have you been reading with art that surpasses this? (Don't say One Punch Man).
It really depends. The art is drawn by a pornography guy so you will be seeing a lot of food orgasms, but if you just...skip those pages, you will encounter some really enriching tidbits about cooking in general. The story is written by someone who actually KNOWS their stuff so it is pretty professional while the art is done by a separate person. So if you are really intrigued by some culinary content, this stuff in this comic is really good if you can skip the orgasm panels (which is really not that extensive, but it is pretty frequent).

He's not giving them orgasms per se. More like foodgasms. Foodgasms are the best. When you eat something really good, the flavours dance on your palette and there's a party in your mouth with hookers and blackjack.

Actually, I felt the same way as u did at first. The foodgasms are a bit hard to go through, n its kinda a put-off for new readers.
Why I picked it up again? Well, so many people here gave it good review, and since it's a new title it only had like 10 chapters or so. So I thought, "However bad this title is going to be, I'll just have to stuck it out for 10 chapters". And now, it's one of the title I'm looking forward to every week.
I could try to write lengthy paragraph about why this title is good, but I won't bother; instead I'll just say this:
If u've been in this forum a while, u'll know these people have good taste for manga, and this goes for Shokugeki No Soma as well. Just read the first 10 chapters, if that doesn't get u interested then just drop it.

It's funny how a lot of people have resumed this manga to the tentacle picture and misinterpret it. That was just a joke about the artist previous manga. Contrary to many series where the ecchi is useless, Souma one is included in the plot, creative and funny so that even I don't mind it.
So, the sumo's foodgasm is meant to be a fanservice for some readers…
Seriously, I can get why some people don't like the foodgasms. But there are so many great things besides that in this manga that I think it's a shame to only focus on those panels.
I don't think u can blame people for misinterpreting those foodgasm panels. Considering how many ecchi manga is out there, including those who provides frequent fanservice. And those panel appear in no less than the 1st chapter of Souma, so I can perfectly see why a lot of people are put-off by it.
Just remember, now we call them "Foodgams" because we know what the title is all about (and how good it is). But for a new reader, those panels are just another attempt at fanservice.
This is probably a similar case to Negima, a lot of people needs convincing that the story is good, apart from those early blatant fanservice.

I'd suggest reading up to chapter 4. By then you'll an idea of what kind of series this will be and if it's your thing.
But those fanservice scenes are just part of the story's setting. By chapter two, or even by the end of chapter one, I think it's safe to gauge whether you'll be okay with those types of scenes or not. And that's really personal preference. Still suggest though to keep reading to chapter 4 to have a gauge on the story though. By the way, this series is surprisingly equal opportunity at the fanservice.

The ERO is most definitely one of the major appeal of the series, there's no "misinterpreting" that.
I wouldn't recommend the series to anyone who is easily offended by those.

nor am incapable of appreciating the fun immaturity, I enjoy my smut fine, and if there's more to it than just smut? Bonus.
The manga is hitting all the right buttons of a mainstream shounen manga, and since smut doesn't bother me, it's all nothing but plus.

I'm one of those people who really dislikes fanservice (of the era variety) immensely. It's ruined a lot of Mangas that other seem to have enjoyed for me. So I understand that. It undermines the point of the Manga if they're getting cheap cartoon underpants in there to appeal to pervy jap kids.
But the point of this manga isn't undermined by it, just appreciate the hilarity and over the top ness of it. I see the foodgasms as 9 parts genre satire, 1 part plot progression.

accualy a stopped reading negime because the story was boring and there were no interesting characters, only anoying ones. In the final arc i just couldn`t get fired up to read even one chapeter more

this manga has unique but straightforward premise..but same premise put some constraints…..as long as author keeps the objectives straight,it will remain very popular...so i expect this manga will last like 150-200 chapters....if stretched more,story will go downhill......

I like Soma far more than Luffy. He has wit, consistent effort and creative originality, is not dumb, and is aware of his responsibility. What is more, he can satisfy any woman with his meat. He can probably murder people without using poisonous substance, since they would die from the sheer intensity of the pleasure of tasting his food.

I'd argue Arlong was the first time Luffy really got serious. ALthough yeah, Alabasta is the first time Luffy really lost a fight, and then we have ennies Lobby where Lucci only lost to Luffy because of a miscalculation about the strength of gear 3
