Luffy will keep it and eat if after his first fight (and loss) vs Blackbeard. BB will win, steal the Gomu gomu no mi and spare Luffy while mocking him. Luffy will then eat the Mera mera no mi and come back carrying his brother's will like it was foretold in Whitebeard's dying speech

Along with the picture of the prediction with Luffy being surrounded by fire in the future, it does seem plausible. I can see BB doing something like this as well. It would be a shame if Luffy didn't have his fruit though, I feel his personality fits him perfectly and it would be disappointing if he were to ever loose it.

I do not have much a clue what is going to happen, but I will write the two scenarios that I would like to happen:
- Sabo eats it if he is alive. Very fitting in my opinion.

a lot of people seems to think that an admiral needs a logia for his position. But that would be nonsence. Garp could have been promoted to admiral but declined it himself(no logia) and sengeko must have been an admiral before becoming the fleetadmiral. he also doesn`t seem to have a logia power. So why does the next admiral need an logia(pointing at kobi and fujitora)?

Personally,I don't think I really want it anywhere near the crew.
We have enough fire attacks in the crew already.Luffy has Red Hawk and may well have other incinerating strikes in his Haki arsenal,Sanji has an entire moveset of Diable Jambe's fire-based attacks,Zoro may or may not get a fire sword in the future,Franky can breathe it and Ussop still has his Phoenix Star of which he may or may not have a heavily upgraded version.
So yeah,Pandaman or someone should eat it instead.

I believe that the devil fruits “demon DNA” impedes itself into the DNA strings in the nucleus just like a HIV virus, therefore I believe that the reason that why Blackbeard has an atypical body is either he has an extra DNA set (which happens really rarely in real life) or has a “twin” on his body somewhere.

I See Blackbeard as the Don Krieg of the new world, he uses extra devil fruits instead of hidden weapons. Therefore I believe it would be very poetic justice to have luffy, in much the same way, be the spear that pieces his armor.

I want him to gain Fire Breath and Manipulation (Flame Whip) from the whip and his increased skill in fire will allow him to create clouds bigger and quicker (hot air helps create clouds)

If all this happens I hope he in the future becomes a one sword user, with fire whip manipulation for his offhand, while having all the charistica of a mythical zoan. Also being able to generate lightning from clouds, which I think is what Dragon does.

In real life people have a 1/3 chance of surviving getting stabbed in the heart. And Oda doesn't kill characters unless it's absolutely necessary.

There is no way that fruit is going to be sitting on some mantle in the Thousand Sunny or on Ace's grave. Someone's going to eat it. Knowing Oda to be unpredictable, there's no way of guess whom, but I can almost say for certain it's not going to be a crew member. Coby honestly makes by far the most sense, whether you like it or not. I'm honestly not to excited about this new development. Oda's going to have to really pull something out to leave me satisfied. -

No Jinbe won't be stronger and Sanji… We had such discussions with Franky and Robin in the past as well with them kicking out Sanji or being as strong as him blurb blurb... the rest will simply grow on a much bigger scale comared to Jinbe they are just entered the NW... Or do you think Jinbe will be stronger as Zoro or equal later on or at the end? Would mean stronger as fucking Mihawk.

Overall I don't think nor I want Sanji to ead this DF cuz one of the main reasons I love Sanji and Zoro are, that they are absolute monsters without it but sadly in one point you are right. With Luffy he is the most likely candidate if you believe someone of the SHs will eat it

- Luffy and Zoro both get legendary teachers and Zoro even one fitting to 100 % to his fighting style... Sanji got 99 masters to beat and an island of butt raping Okamas chasing his ass for 2 years day and night... While for sure amazing and more than other training it still be "weaker" as the other 2 trainings.
So the fruit would compensate it and not overpower him at the beginning cuz he first has to master it.
- Sanji is "limiting" himself with the whole not using his hands as martial artist... So a fruit add something to him while he can still hold his trademake

What's the point? The fruit will not sink to the bottom of the sea you know that right? It will just float away till some Luffy enemy will find it and eat it then ending up to fight Luffy, this will be the worst option ever.

I don't think the Strawhats will get a power up by eating a devil fruit. Oda has shown that he is more than capable of adjusting their fighting styles to power them up rather than giving them a "god-given" power up.
He will do something meaningful with the fruit but it won't be eaten by a current Strawhat. Also the fighting style changes much more if someone were to eat a Logia compared to another type of fruit. -
