So in the latest chapter, Doflamingo was revealed to possess Ace's fruit. Since it immediately became a hot topic, I decided to create this thread. That way there's room for other discussion in the chapter threads.
Share your thoughts on what will happen to the fruit. Will someone in the crew eat it? There's also a poll, so we can see what the general opinion is.

I see:
–Luffy keeping the Mera Mera no Mi stashed away somewhere safe on the Thousand Sunny.
--A GREAT amount of time will pass (like Luffy will become the Pirate King, and defeat Fleet Admiral Akainu time pass).
--During the final scenes of the series, a kid who looks up to Luffy will "accidentally" eat the Mera Mera no Mi, and Luffy and crew will have the same reaction Shanks and crew had when Luffy ate the Gomu Gomu no Mi.
--This will be a passing of the torch, of sorts. To the next generation. (Heck... Maybe the Gomu Gomu no Mi belonged to the brother/step-brother of Gol D. Roger, and he kept it safe after his brother/step-brother died early similar to Ace). (Maybe, just maybe, if the Strawhat's acquire a Cabin Boy, he will be there instead of Luffy (if Luffy dies) when the kid eats it).

Hey. It's a good idea. Better than 80% of the other garbage ("ROFLMAO!!!1!!!! LUFFY GONNA EAT!!!!!1!!") that pass as theories on the subject of the Mera Mera no Mi.
It actually makes sense, and goes with the "Passing of the Generation" theme One Piece has.

They don´t want to see an asspull regarding Coby becoming an Admiral in the current story timeline. Nothing he has learned in the 2 years would justify such a jump, not even towards the end of the series, so they want him to get a nice powerup with the fruit.
I have the opinion that Coby will not become Admiral without a timeskip anyway.
I picked "It will not be eaten and will be kept on the Sunny as a keepsake because this is the option that makes the most sense. No way in hell anyone will eat this fruit that loves and respects Luffy"

It'd be pretty funny/awesome if Diamante tries to pit Kinemon and Kanjuro in a fight to death or something, but in the end they both kick his ass and Kinemon see's the Mera Mera fruit and comments on it looking similar to the fruit he ate and tells Kanjuro to eat it. Doffy's plan would blow up in his face and Luffy wouldn't even see the fruit, he'd just want Kanjuro to join the crew cause' of his awesome ability.
Someone else will eat it…I just don't know who yet...

100% this and hey by that logic a logia makes you auto admiral level… And Coby fir sure is THAT important to Luffy after all.

Your existence in this thread is proof enough that you do care about the Mera Mera no Mi. Otherwise, you wouldn't be posting in this thread.
In any case, I'm neutral on this. Whatever happens to it, I'm good with it. Though, I like the concept of slapping the mera mera no mi onto each of the straw hats.

I think no matter what happens with it, it will play a big role in the next arc. So no stowing away until… The thing I would like the most is a new crew-member eating it because that would mean finally having all crew members aboard.
The new member would have to be somebody they meet at Dressrosa but most likely not Kanjuro because the samurai of Wano seem like Vivi. Staying until they arrive at their homeland.
Or another possibility is that the fruit is destroyed during the fights on Dressrosa.

Keeping the fruit as a momento sounds nice, but I wager with the way this arc is being set up, the hunt to acquire it would be perilious and dangerous. Almost being more trouble than it's worth?

I went with - "It will be kept on the Thousand Sunny as a memento of Ace. I don't want to see anyone eating Ace's fruit simple as that. Maybe it's because he is my favourite character and I'm used to seeing this power be used by him, but I just don't want anyone else having it. ESPECIALLY Coby! I may get a lot of hate for this but every time I see this guy it makes me want to punch the screen of my laptop. :ninja: So..yeah it shall be kept on the ship

I'd like it to be a new crew member. I can't see it being a current member and I wouldn't want it to be that. The whole development of their power would be flushed down the drain. It would be good if they could add a member who has a logia. Realistically it will probably be kept as a memento.
