Toriko II: Ichiryuu's Slimy Insides!!
-
-
! Birth-Cry Tree taking root in a freaking mountain range! Epic.
-
Tedious chapter.
-
! Rain Land, Giant Land. This is the Mushroom Kingdom on crack.
-
Somehow, this area already seems more appealing than the one before. Seems more like a dangerous adventure
-
Haha, those Sea Kings that are all the time popping up in One Piece made a cameo this chapter!
-
Honey, I Shrunk the Kings.
-
well i think this chapter captured the essence of adventure i got from early toriko chapters.
Amusing to see the size of the car at the back, and my prediction that Zebra would get agitated seemed to have come to fruition much earlier than i expected.
-
FUCK YES, this is what I've been waiting to see. Go wild, Zebra.
-
If this arc is ever animated, they should use this track throughout:
-
This post is deleted!
-
I'd like to take what I said couple of posts back. I was getting cocky and impatient.
Area 7 and the monkeys should adapt to Zebra. He's the rule himself lol. -
Best part was of course 'Sharkchoo'. Such a cute sneeze.
-
This continent is nuts!!! Blades of grass that dwarf the Denshark? lol… beginning to think that maybe Bambina isn't that small after all.
-
Screw the rules, I'm fucking Zebra!!
-
Screw the rules, I'm fucking Zebra!!
NOBODY gets cocky around Zebra. Bambina better adapt.

They've found world 4 of Super Mario Bros 3!
Good chapter. Its so weird to have Toriko describe something as the "second largest" or "third tallest", thats some unusual restraint

Well, its the largest continent and everything there is giant compared to the rest so that special tree not being the largest and tallest, leaving room for something even bigger, is already crazy.
-
Anyone think that that monkeys mouth was a homage to Parasyte which is about to get an anime and live action movie…..
Quite funny since Shima-san did the same thing a few chapters back with a human cockroach like in terraformars....lol....love these little details!

TIME FOR ANOTHER INSTALLMENT OF TORIKO MATH TIME.
Area 7 covers 840 million km^2. The chapter states that the "area of the earth we are currently living on is ~510 million km^2". This is correct but 510 million km^2 is actually the surface area of the entire earth, not just it's land. In fact, the area of all the actual land on earth is only ~150 million km^2. This means that this continent has more than 5 times the surface area than all the Earth's land! And it is only the second biggest one in the gourmet would.Crunching some more numbers, if each of the ~7 billion people on Earth was distributed uniformly on this continent they would each get about 20 soccer fields to themselves.
This got me thinking about the size of the Toriko world: http://www.mangahit.com/toriko/111/6
Here we are told that the Gourmet world is ~70% of the surface area of the planet. If we assume that area 4, being the biggest comprises say, 40% of the gourmet world and area 7 then is ~30% of it (I'm totally guessing on these ratios but it should be close) that means that the total surface area of Toriko world is ~4 billion km^2. [hide]
So the Toriko world has about half the surface area of Neptune.[/hide]So what does this mean for gravity there? I've wondered about that since reading this page a while back: http://www.mangahit.com/toriko/113/15 This statement the manga makes isn't accurate unless the core of the planet is much denser than the rest. But I will leave such calculations for another time when we get more info.
If my surface area estimate is correct and Toriko world has the same density as Earth (~5.5g/cc) then the mass of the Toriko world should be about 22 times that of Earth. Doing some Physics gives this means that on the surface of the planet the acceleration due to gravity would be 27 m/s^2, about three times that of Earth (9.8 m/s^2). This means that you would weigh about 3 times as much there as you would on Earth! Your poor bones!
Also if you jumped off something and fell for only a single second you would already be traveling at 60 miles per hour! No more diving boards unless you want to go SPLAT when you hit the water.
-
So next chapter we are going to get our Monkey King after Zebra OHKO all of the pack? Shima, ffs.
-
also, yeah the gravity in toriko is actually the reverse of real life, so it'll screw with calculations.
My guess is that Shima as a writer didn't research it and probably went with the more "logical" guess as someone who knew nothing about physics.
-
Who knew that a shark sneeze could be so adorable? haha And I love the look of area 7. This environment just seems like it will be a lot more intimidating than area 8 rains, though probably not more wacky.

Honestly his numbers aren't bad. I was hoping he'd say what speed the shark traveled so we could calculate it's enormous momentum

i love you so much.
-
That is one thought that popped in my mind.
'How fast do they have to travel to get across this place!?'
I mean, of course they don't have to go from shore to shore but even just reaching the middle of it should be a long task.
-
Looking at the map of it, if you compacted it into a single block, Area 7 would be roughly six squares by nine in size. That rectangle would have sides of around 24,000 and 35,000 kilometers.
So to reach the middle by the shortest route, you'd have to travel about 12,000 kilometers (almost the diameter of the planet Earth); if the denshark can match the fastest train on Earth (roughly 580 kph), it'd take about twenty hours to make it. Area 8 is to the North of Area 7 though and they'd most likely be approaching it from that direction, which is a longer trip. It's more like 17,500 kilometers to the center from that direction or about thirty hours. Even at supersonic speeds, it'd still take about ten to fifteen hours for each.
That's for a solid block though; the coastline is a lot closer that than in most places.
-
Interesting chapter, but if the scale of Area 7 is so massive, then how big is that massive continent to the NW? It appears to be slightly larger…
Also, that monkey's Anatomy is bizarre. Mouth like a beakless nitro, and testicles without a penis. What's up with what?
-

Mitsutoshi wants to spare us that imagery, lest we feel…inadequate.

Whenever I see calculations done about Toriko, it reminds me of that one post about the incredible hulk vs the incredible hulk's weight in bees. Where 1,500 pounds = 7 million bees. Which is enough bees to fill several Titanics.
"I am not sure you fully understood exactly how many bees we are talking about here."

now I need the source on this

This is going to be one long arc, I can already tell just by looking at the proportions of the continent. I think it might even surpass the the Cooking Festival arc in lenght, but we are not sure of that.
And this is also going to be the first arc ever in the series with Komatsu out of the focus for the entirety of what the arc is going to last. Pretty interesting, uh? How are Toriko and co. going to even get a clue on how to find PAIR, let alone cook it.
So do you think this will be the arc where the other kings might get to meet their combo partners? We already know since long Brunch will eventually become Zebra's partner, but what about Coco an Sunny? Speaking of Sunny, I recently checked the Toriko volume 29.5, also known as the Toriko Databook, and among other things I came across something interesting that I thik I''m going to let you find it by yourselves in order to not break the surprise.

Noooo. So cruel. Sunny is my favorite! Would you be willing to send me a private message?

Call me crazy and all, but I am afraid of Toriko turning into the new Naruto in terms of pacing

Call me crazy and all, but I am afraid of Toriko turning into the new Naruto in terms of pacing
Well, WSJ does need a new magazine to fill that position.
Although really I'm not too worried about it at the moment
-
Call me crazy and all, but I am afraid of Toriko turning into the new Naruto in terms of pacing
With almost 300 chapters of fast, some times breakneck pacing? Lol, I don't think so. Naruto became like that because of Kishimoto alone. Though Bleach is even worse when it comes to pacing, so…

Wat? Shimabukurou would never spend 3+ years on some snorefest war or pad a fight with flashbacks every other page.
-
This is why I like the fast pacing of Toriko, it doesn't waste time around trivial things and goes to show always the important stuff.
-
Wat? Shimabukurou would never spend 3+ years on some snorefest war or pad a fight with flashbacks every other page.
I think he means the opposite, that the pacing is going too fast, which I can actually see. What I don't know is when did Naruto have fast pacing, since it's always been quite the opposite, even during the better days of old.
-
Maybe he means how he skips through the important stuff like character development or key plot elements and fun adventure and wastes time with boring shit no one cares about like Neo and tons of stupid emotional drama wangst.

shimabukuro is constanly doing historical development and key plot elements, its only the character development thats lacking ( the disiplines, toriko, utake are good eveloped tho ) we just need to see a flashback of the kings
and why dont you like neo? I think they are awesome
-
Neo is still an underdeveloped organization, but give it time and they will eventually become the stepping stone for both Bishokuya and the Bishokukai.

Because they're this random organization of vague mystery politicians shoe horned into the plot out of nowhere that hijack the plot with boring conspiracy theory bullshit, have an absurd backstory with their leader being a zombie, are not interesting as they consist of soley blandy mcbland characters and are unnecessary given we already had a big anti-Toriko group and all the introduction of Neo did was serve as a distraction as well as undermine aforementioned group. Kinda like Akatsuki…
-
Nobody ever roots for the illuminati :(
-
The illuminati is such a conspiratorial load of crap. The real power rests with the New World Order.

We will find you.

Neo is essentially a collection of kind of cool character designs at this point.

No Toriko this week ?
